DIY decorative New Year's pillows

The highlight of the festive bedroom decor will be pillows with themed designs: Christmas trees, snowflakes, balls, deer, stars and, of course, Santa Claus. They can be knitted, with embroidery, appliques, and also decorated with ribbons, beads and decorative cords. Making beautiful New Year's pillows with your own hands is not difficult at all.

Pillows with embroidered silver or gold snowflakes are suitable for decorating a bedroom in any style. Snowflakes made from decorative stones, sequins and mother-of-pearl beads, the radiance and shine of which will create beautiful illumination.

Christmas trees are also very often depicted on New Year's pillows. You can embroider only the outline, and decorate the middle with beads, bows, ribbons, beads, buttons, and rhinestones. Pillows in the shape of a Christmas tree look very beautiful, made of velvet, satin or fabric that matches the color of the rest of the festive decoration of the room. 1. Decorate the windows with protrusions

Decorating windows with patterns and pictures cut out of paper is perhaps the most traditional way decor, especially in our country. If you want to remember your childhood, and also decorate your windows as quickly as possible, then paper snowflakes are what you need.

One of the classic themes for decorating windows with paper pictures is the theme of a Christmas town. This is exactly what we propose to depict on the windows in the coming 2019.

• Paper (preferably white);
• Soap and a little water (to make “glue”) or double-sided tape;

How to do it?

1. Print templates in the quantity and combination you need;
2. To cut out windows and doors, use either sharp nail scissors or a craft/layout knife;

How to glue protrusions to a window?

Method 1: Wet a bar of soap, then rub it on the back side of the protrusion and immediately glue it to the window. It is important that the window is dust-free, clean and dry.

Method 2: Use PVA glue - after drying it becomes transparent and can be easily washed off with water.

Method 3: Glue the protrusions onto small pieces of regular, or better yet, double-sided tape.

2. We hang a branch with garlands on the eaves

How to decorate a window New Year without spending a penny, and at the same time create a super stylish accessory that can be reused many, many times? Find a nice branch in the park, clean it of any dirt, trim it if necessary, and let it dry.

How to do it?

1. Wipe the windows clean.
2. Shake the marker, place the tip on a piece of paper, and gently bend until ink appears in the tip. Draw a few lines on the paper to make sure the marker is working properly.
3. Download the template from our article or search for Christmas stencils on the Internet, enlarge the sample to required sizes Using any graphic editor, print, cut and paste on the window.

• Attention! If you are not using a stencil, but just a picture, then it is best to glue it with reverse side window.
• If you want to print a large drawing, print it on several sheets using the service rasterbator.net .

If you don't have a printer, use the following trick: turn off the lights in the room and set the computer monitor screen to maximum brightness. Then attach a sheet of paper (it should not be too thick) to the screen and draw the outlines of the drawing with a pencil. Next, all you have to do is cut out the template/stencil and stick it on the window in the right place using tape (preferably masking tape).

• Cascading garlands, as in the photo below, are especially suitable for decorating windows.

5. Decorate the windowsill with mini Christmas trees

The window sill should also not be empty; it should be decorated with candles, cute New Year's figures, spruce paws, a vase or dish filled with balls or cones. And several mini-Christmas trees in identical bags will look great here.

You will need:

1. Several artificial mini-Christmas trees, indoor cypresses or junipers;
2. Burlap or linen fabric;
3. Scissors;
4. Ribbon or jute rope.

How to do it?

1. Cut out several round pieces from the prepared fabric of such a size that they can be used to completely wrap the pots of mini-Christmas trees. You can cut the fabric roughly, and it is better not to process the sections (they should even be “fluffed” a little).
2. Wrap the pot with the Christmas tree in fabric and secure the resulting bag with tape or rope. Voila! The Christmas tree is ready. Now you can decorate it with small toys or leave it as is.

6. Dress up the curtains

Do you want to avoid spending money on New Year’s window decorations and not having to clean the glass after the holidays? 7. Decorate the windowsill... with Christmas stockings

Do you regret not having a fireplace in your city apartment to decorate it with Christmas stockings for gifts? Don’t be discouraged, because instead of a mantelpiece, you can use a window sill by gluing small hooks to its end.

8. Paint windows with gouache

If you have drawing skills, then with the help of gouache you can decorate windows with a bright or, conversely, very delicate pattern. For example, it could be Santa Claus looking through the windows, fairy forest or bullfinches on snow-covered branches. True, it is better to use gouache not in pure form, but mixed with toothpaste or tooth powder. Here are a couple more tips for painting a window with gouache:

• To obtain gentle colors and halftones, it is better to mix toothpaste not with gouache, but with watercolor.
• If you have planned complex drawing, it is best to use a stencil or template (the template is best glued to reverse side glass).
• To erase a pattern from a window, first go over it with a dry rag or a soft scraper - this will remove the top layer of paint and speed up the cleaning of the glass.
