Artificial Christmas tree topiary. New Year's topiary: a symbol of festive mood

Church holidays

Topiaries are becoming increasingly popular in interior design. These are small artificial trees made from various decorative materials. Paper, fabric, candies, ribbons, artificial flowers can be used in the decor of topiary - everything that the author’s imagination suggests.

New Year's topiary is a great idea for those who love crafts and new ideas. Topiary can be both a complement to the traditional Christmas tree in room decor, and a fashionable alternative for those who want something new.

Small bright trees will enliven the interior and enhance the feeling of celebration. The article will be devoted to master classes on creating such New Year's mini-trees with your own hands.

  • A tree made with your own hands using a similar technique consists of four elements: a base, a trunk, a crown and a stand.
  • The basis of the topiary is a ball. It can be polystyrene foam, polyurethane foam, a cardboard figure, wire or made of papier-mâché. You can simply crumple the paper into a tight ball and wrap it with tape.
  • The crown is the most interesting detail of a decorative tree. Ribbons, beads, paper flowers, coffee beans and seashells are used to decorate it. But since we are creating a New Year’s topiary, we will need the appropriate materials: Christmas tree decorations, balls, tinsel, pine cones, fir branches, artificial snow, candies.
  • The stand for the composition can also be different. This could be a flower pot, a bucket, a flat stone or a wooden beam. If the weight of the tree is large, then the stand should be massive and heavy.

Crown of New Year's topiary

The first master class will be devoted to creating a crown from Christmas tree decorations with your own hands. For this you need:

  • Christmas balls of similar size and color,
  • tinsel,
  • fir cones that can be covered with gold or artificial snow,
  • small branches with berries (you can take artificial ones),
  • satin gold ribbons,
  • toothpicks for fastening.

Let's take a foam ball as a base. To make the crown of a New Year's tree, you need to attach each Christmas tree decoration and other decorative elements to the base with a toothpick and glue, without losing the shape of the ball. The gaps between the large balls are filled with small parts, and to prevent the composition from falling apart, you can glue the parts together. Then all that remains is to decorate the crown of the impromptu Christmas tree with ribbons and tinsel, and you can spray some artificial snow.

New Year's topiary using natural materials It is created in the same way, but the decoration is fir cones. It is desirable that they are also the same size, and the space between them can be filled with small pine branches, strings of beads or tinsel. Very small plain Christmas tree balls will look good in combination with large pine cones. For a greater aesthetic effect, the cones can be plated with gold or silver.

Topiary Christmas tree can also be a good decoration for the New Year's interior. To create such a tree with your own hands you will need spruce branches, cones, beads and artificial snow. It is better to take as a basis not a ball, but a cone, on which the branches will be attached so that the tree looks like a real Christmas tree.

The Christmas tree-shaped crown can be decorated with fabric, sisal or felt will do. The fabric is attached to the base, then decorated with toys, threads, tinsel and other beauty. Your DIY Christmas tree is ready!

New Year's topiary tree can also be made from artificial coniferous branches, which are divided into small branches. The base is also taken - a ball or cone, to which the fluffy parts are attached. Then all that remains is to decorate the Christmas tree with toys, beads and small candies.

Embroidered Christmas trees look unusual. To make them, you can sew two pieces of fabric together in the shape of Christmas trees, stuff them with cotton wool to add volume, and embroider them with threads. You can embroider pine needles and attach the toys separately.

The master class on creating New Year's topiaries from candies is very simple. The base in the shape of a ball or cone should be wrapped in green tinsel and, using toothpicks, attached various candies that will look like bright toys decorating a green Christmas tree.

You can use a combination of Christmas balls and candies, pine cones and candies, fir branches and candies. Any composition will look elegant and festive, and most importantly – appetizing.

Trunk for New Year's topiary

The New Year's Christmas tree master class continues with ideas about what you can use to make a trunk for a festive mini-tree with your own hands.

  • If the tree is small, you can take several wooden skewers or Chinese sticks, fasten them together and decorate them with thick rope or satin ribbon of a suitable color.
  • You can build a wire trunk, if necessary, connecting several parts if the wire is thin. Such a trunk is decorated in a similar way. Wire is convenient because it can be used to create not only straight, but also curved trunks: such trees look more elegant.
  • An ordinary wooden stick found in the forest will also work as a trunk. You can pre-clean it and varnish it, give it the desired color with paints or decorate it with ribbons. The length and thickness of the stick can be selected depending on the overall size of the topiary.

Base for topiary

There are many options:

  • Foam plastic of any shape. This base is suitable for small, light compositions.
  • A cardboard stand filled with various fixing and decorating materials: pine needles, tinsel, cones, etc.
  • A flower pot that can be decorated in various ways. Suitable for larger topiaries.
  • Glass, mug, vase, jug, any vessel suitable in size for the composition.
  • A small wicker basket.
  • Stone or wooden block. But it is quite difficult to attach the barrel to such a base.

To fix the trunk in a pot or glass, you can use alabaster or cement mortar. This will also give the entire composition stability.

Topiary decor

A lot has already been said about decorating topiaries in our master class. As you can see, DIY decoration can be no less impressive than that of professional designers.

There are many ideas for decorating New Year's topiaries.

  • Decoration with Christmas balls. You can select balls by size, or you can use contrast by alternating large and small balls. Elements can be in the same color scheme, but 2 or more colors can be used. The combination of shiny and matte balls looks good.
  • Tinsel . It can imitate spruce needles or serve as decoration along with other toys. The great advantage of tinsel in design is the variety of its colors and shapes.
  • Natural materials : spruce branches and cones, acorns, small berries, leaves. Decorating models with coffee beans is not only beautiful, but also fragrant, and in combination with tinsel or pine needles, a wonderful New Year tree can be created. Tangerines and small lemons are used in topiary decoration; in combination with pine needles they create an excellent New Year's theme.
  • Edible elements : candies with beautiful candy wrappers, cookies in the form of various figures, etc. Such trees are not only beautiful, but also appetizing.
  • Textile . It can be felt, satin, lace, delicate organza, flowing silk - it all depends on what image the designer creates.
  • Ribbons and graceful bows - a win-win option in decorating topiaries for the New Year.
  • Knitted elements . They can be knitted or crocheted. These are, for example, snowflakes, snowman figures, Christmas tree decorations. It is quite difficult to knit such small figures, but this decor looks very beautiful and cozy.

Several ideas for creating New Year's topiaries

Master class on creating a fragrant coffee tree

Coffee beans are glued onto a cone base, which is best painted brown. The grains are glued in any order, on any side. The main thing is that the entire space is covered. Next, the crown is varnished, then the coffee beans will shine. For decoration, you can take lace and make small flowers out of it, the center of which is decorated with a bright red bead.

Several of these flowers are glued to the crown of the topiary. You can stick several red and white beads and bows between the coffee beans.

To secure the composition, you need to decorate the cup with lace and fill it with alabaster mortar, fixing the barrel.

Creative master class on making topiary from candies with your own hands

The cone base is decorated with ribbon. A bell is attached to the top of the cone with a wire, and the wire is also wrapped with tape. Candies are glued to the lower edge of the cone attached to the barrel. It is advisable that the rope and candies harmonize in color. The space between the candies is filled with tinsel and small silver-plated cones; you can also use small Christmas tree balls.

This composition looks very impressive with a curved trunk. The base is made of polystyrene foam, decorated with organza and candies.

Feeling of the holiday: topiary with tangerines

The master class on its design is very simple. To create a crown you will need a ball base, tangerines and spruce branches (can be artificial). Tangerines need to be beautifully wrapped with wire and secured to the base. Dip the spruce branches first into liquid glue, then into a cup with small white beads: they will look like they are sprinkled with snow. Fir branches will decorate the bottom of the composition, and the tangerine crown can be supplemented with fragrant bay leaves or tinsel. Decorate the trunk with a voluminous bow.

The base for such a topiary should be massive. A large clay pot filled with alabaster mortar will do.

Herringbone Topiary

A topiary that is suitable as a replacement for a Christmas tree will help create the final master class. A small flower pot with alabaster is used as a base. The decor for it will be white terry cloth, which should be wrapped around the pot and tied at the base of the trunk with a beautiful ribbon.

A massive stick is suitable as a trunk for the composition. Spruce branches need to be connected into small bundles and attached to the trunk. The composition will resemble a growing young spruce. The final detail is adding cones to the crown. You can decorate this topiary with small bows or balls. Decorate the trunk by wrapping it with ribbons.

Making New Year's topiaries with your own hands is a pleasant creative process. There are millions of options here, it all depends only on the imagination of the master. Such a decorative tree will fill your home with comfort and a feeling of the approaching holiday!

The most important decoration for your home during the New Year holidays is definitely the Christmas tree. And if everything is clear with live spruce, then in the production of artificial spruce there is room for craftswomen to flourish. A Christmas tree can be made from a variety of materials - paper, plastic bottles, pasta, pine cones and even coffee beans and allspice. Thus, thanks to your imagination and free minutes, you can create amazing masterpieces and decorations with your own hands. Crafts are in demand at any time of the year, but winter ones differ from others in their beauty and unusualness. The holidays make them that way, which we all adore, of course.

This little green beauty will be a wonderful gift, and it will also serve as a wonderful decoration for the holiday table. In this master class I will tell you in detail how to make a New Year's topiary with your own hands, using paper and other almost waste materials. You will learn how to make Christmas trees from paper, which you can use to amaze and delight loved ones on New Year's holidays, as well as decorate your office or home with them.

For the Christmas tree we need:

  • A sheet of A4 paper;
  • Aluminum wire;
  • Styrofoam;
  • Lining fabric;
  • Green thick threads for the Christmas tree;
  • Twine;
  • PVA glue and Moment glue;
  • Sequins of two types;
  • Christmas tree beads 50 cm;
  • Braid for decoration;
  • Ribbon for bows;
  • A plastic cup;
  • Construction gypsum;
  • Sackcloth;
  • Sintepon;
  • Candy wrappers.

Making a frame and trunk for a Christmas tree

We twist a paper sheet into a cone and glue it along the edges with PVA glue. Then we measure the height of the cone with a ruler and draw a cutting line along the bottom edge.

We will use strong aluminum wire as the barrel. We string a cone onto it so that the wire extends beyond the top of the cone, and put a foam cap on the opposite end of the wire, push it further, covering the bottom of the cone.

It is better to fill the internal space of the frame for our Christmas tree with old newsprint so that it does not become deformed during further work with it. Don't forget to treat the ends of the foam cap with PVA glue before closing the cone with it.

We give the shape of the future topiary: we glue the lining fabric to the foam bottom, and fasten its edges to the sides of the frame itself. We give the necessary shape to the topiary trunk: from above the top of the cone and from below using pliers, we wrap it tightly with twine. Then we wrap the frame itself several times with green thread.

And the last thing left for us is to wrap the entire tree from bottom to top with thick green thread for knitting. Don't forget to secure your work with glue.

Decorating a pot for a Christmas tree

It is necessary to choose a pot that is not too large, but not too small, for New Year’s topiary. In my case, it turned out to be a yogurt cup.
We cut the cup for work, glue the bottom with lining fabric and wrap it in burlap, the edges of which are folded inside the cup.

Now you need to prepare a gypsum solution to fix the topiary in the pot. To do this, dilute the plaster with water in approximately the same proportions so that the mixture ends up thick, like rich sour cream. Fill the glass almost completely with this solution.

We immerse the trunk of our Christmas tree in the solution and hold it in this position for a while so that the plaster in the pot hardens a little.

After the plaster has completely hardened, we decorate the cup. We put braid along its upper and lower edges, you can also decorate the center with sequins or lace flowers. We mask the surface of the “soil” in the pot with padding polyester and place gifts made from candy wrappers into it.

Now the best part: decorating the Christmas tree itself. We decorate the lower edge of the “skirt” with braid to match the overall composition. We put necklaces of gold beads on the tree, glue one short thread to the very tip of the topiary and mask it with a small gold bow on top. Next, we decorate the Christmas tree with bows, beads, and sequins in a free order.

At the end of the article, as always, I want to introduce you to a video about the creation of New Year trees, very creative and non-standard, designer Christmas trees from a florist-decorator:

New Year's topiary Christmas tree: we decorate the holiday ourselves

New Year's topiary "Herringbone" is one of the most beautiful decorative decorations. It’s easy to do – and the result will amaze everyone Almost everyone wants to make something with their own hands for the holiday. And if you haven’t practiced making topiary yet, it’s time to start. The New Year tree is traditionally made in the form of a Christmas tree. But the master class (MK) will tell you what the Christmas tree itself will be made of.

Coffee topiary: Christmas tree: preparing materials

Lovers of such aromatic drink as coffee will definitely like this gift. But just a coffee topiary is too banal, let it be a coffee... Christmas tree!

A Christmas tree made of coffee is a very fashionable modern New Year's decor that will not be out of place either in the kitchen or in the office

To make it yourself, you will need:

  • Coffee beans (about 200 grams);
  • Cardboard cone and cardboard circle;
  • Stick (pencil or skewer);
  • Glue moment;
  • Double-sided tape;
  • Gypsum;
  • Plastic cup for stand;
  • Jute twine;
  • Sackcloth;
  • Ribbons and beads.

The first thing you will do with your own hands according to this MK is prepare the barrel. Take either a pencil or a skewer and wrap it with twine. After this, you put the finished cardboard cone on this trunk. This master class also offers such a solution - you can weave braids from twine, tie a thread in the middle to the braid, thread it through the top into a cone and secure it on a skewer.

By making a mix of photos viewed online and flights of your own imagination, you can create your own original masterpiece

Then fill the inside of the cone with napkins so that it is not hollow. This master class suggests taking napkins as a simple option, but it can be anything - cotton wool, fabric, etc.

Tape the cardboard circle underneath with tape. The base for the coffee Christmas tree is ready. Make sure it is strong enough, because the next step is to form the crown.

Coffee Christmas tree topiary: decorating master class

Glue the grains one by one, tightly to each other.

The master class continues as follows:

  • The first layer of coffee beans dries in about half an hour, and only after this time can the second layer be applied.
  • The crown is ready, now it, or rather the tree, needs to be planted somewhere, in some kind of pot. You can also do it yourself. Take a simple plastic cup, pour plaster into it, and place the Christmas tree in it. Make sure it is firmly in the pot.
  • Now, following MK, the pot needs to be decorated, it should also be in an elegant form. You can do this like this: wrap the glass in burlap, use twine to weave another braid with your own hands and wrap it around the pot.
  • You can also easily make a bow from twine, in the middle of which you can decorate with a coffee bead. Such bows can also be at the ends of a braid that you pulled out through a cone, like a Christmas tree decoration.

The decor of the coffee crown is also created along with the design. To do this, you need to decide in advance what elements you will use.

The main part is ready, and now you can improve this universal master class. For example, put fir cones in the top layer of the pot to cover the plaster. Or paint the same coffee beans with gold acrylic paint. This Christmas tree in the shape of a coffee tree will definitely surprise your friends and family.

Topiary Christmas tree made of threads: original DIY decor

A Christmas tree made of threads is also, in its own way, a classic of the genre. There are many MKs that describe the process of creating such a tree. This may not be the most traditional topiary, since there is no traditionally high trunk, the pot can simply serve as a stand, etc.

A sleigh with the most desirable New Year's guest is a great idea for a Christmas tree topiary stand

Master class - Christmas tree made of threads:

  • Ideal if you have a foam cone. It will be a better base and you won't have to worry about whether the topiary is durable or not. But if there is no such blank, you can make something similar with your own hands.
  • Make a simple cone from cardboard or any other dense material. A papier-mâché blank will also work, although you will have to tinker with these.
  • Almost no MK “undertakes” to paint a foam plastic cone, but another cone, the same cardboard one, needs to be painted to match the color of the threads (so that everything is uniform).
  • The cone needs to be wrapped with thread. Which threads to take, decide for yourself - it’s better to be heterogeneous, for example, white-green, fluffy.
  • Secure the ends of the threads with glue. To prevent them from “running away” during the work process, they can be secured to the base with pins. The winding goes in the “bottom-up” direction.
  • When the entire cone is wrapped, secure the threads again with pins. To keep the spruce fluffy and nothing showing through from under the threads, wrap the threads in another layer.

Several ideas for decorating a Christmas tree topiary made of threads

Now the spruce topiary can be decorated. Decorative berries, beads, rhinestones, buttons - in the process of work it will become clear what will be useful.

DIY herringbone topiary: final design

It's time to make this New Year's tree look like a traditional topiary. This means it must have a trunk and a pot.

Use a wine cork as a stem. There are MKs that offer to simply paint the cork; you can wrap it with thread or twine. In a word, transform the cork with your own hands so that it looks like a trunk.

Next, the master class suggests gluing the stem plug to the cone. A heat gun will come in handy. Well, all that remains is to choose a pot. You can do this: wrap a regular plastic cup with sisal. Sisal has a pleasant texture, and you can choose any color. And then the master class is up to you: ribbons, lace, twine, mini-Christmas balls, tinsel... You can decorate the pot with your own hands in the way that suits your spruce, which should blend harmoniously into your interior.

Beads, satin ribbons, braid, bugles - there are no frames or barriers for decorating New Year's topiary

Here are a few more ideas from different MKs:

  • Such a spruce also requires gifts at its foot! A small case with elegant decoration is the best master class for giving gifts for the New Year.
  • Some MKs suggest combining the same threads and candies, or threads and coins as the top layer of a pot, so that financial success does not pass you by in the new year;

MK with spruce, the top of which is slightly twisted, is also popular; an aluminum cable will help create such a bend.

Decorating a Christmas tree topiary (video master class)

Such a tree will not only decorate your home. You can create something similar as a craft for kindergarten, the child will definitely be happy! And it will take only one evening to complete not the most difficult task.

Bonsai translates as “grown in a tray.” This art of growing an exact replica of a real tree, bush or grass in miniature originated about two thousand years ago in China, but it really flourished in Japan. Nowadays, artificial bonsai, made from a variety of materials, have become widespread, which also represent a miniature tree with one or more intricately curved trunks.

Topiary (topiary) is a garden with artistically trimmed plants and green sculptures. The art of topiary has a long history. In Ancient Egypt and Persia, people learned to give trees and shrubs geometric shapes. The most famous example of topiary art is one of the seven wonders of the world - the Hanging Gardens of Babylon in Babylon. Original small trees, for the production of which natural and artificial materials are used, are also called topiary or European tree. This is a decorative thing, and it depends only on the imagination of the creator what kind of crown his tree will have.

Oriental bonsai trees, like topiaries, are called trees of happiness, and if coins are attached to the branches - money trees, so everyone is happy to receive such a craft as a gift and decorate their home with it.

In the same section we place various types Christmas trees , except for Christmas trees belonging to the category suite design .

Master Class

Master Class (MK) - this is the transfer of his professional experience by a master (teacher), his consistent, verified actions leading to a predetermined result.

To publish a master class, the work must be original (invented and made by you). If you used someone else's idea, you must indicate the author. (The link to the source should not lead to a site containing sales of goods or services, since links to commercial sites are prohibited according to clause 2.4 of the PS).

Your master class should not completely duplicate the one already available in the Land of Masters. Before publishing, check through the search that there are no similar MKs on the site.

The process should be photographed step by step (see Tips for photographing crafts) or filmed (see how to upload a video).

The order of registration: the first photo is the finished work that is proposed to be completed, the second photo is the materials and tools necessary for the work (or their detailed description), then the stages of MK from the first to the last. The final photo (the result of the work) can repeat the very first one. Photos must be accompanied by clear and competent comments about the process.

If you have already published your MK on another site and you want to also publish it with us, then you need to follow all the rules for designing a MK described above. In other words: in an entry with the MK type, you cannot simply put a photo of the finished product and a link to a master class on another site.

Attention: all master classes in the Land of Masters are checked by site assistants. If the requirements of the Master Class section are not met, the entry type will be changed. If the site's User Agreement is violated, for example, copyright is violated, the entry will be removed from publication.

Almost everyone has balls of thread in their house. If you don’t have it, then your mothers or grandmothers will definitely have some yarn. I suggest you watch to find out how to make a topiary tree from threads with your own hands, a master class prepared by me. Making a Christmas tree from threads is quite simple, it doesn’t require much investment and it doesn’t take too much time to make. And it turns out to be a very original gift that you can give to your family, friends or acquaintances. Such a gift will surprise the person to whom you give it, because now it is very fashionable to give gifts made with your own hands.

To create a topiary Christmas tree from threads we will need:

- red yarn;
-scissors;
-cardboard;
-wire;
-skewers;
-PVA glue;
-small disposable cup;
-building plaster (can be replaced with putty or mixed liquid glue with cereal or pebbles, it will just take a little longer to dry);
- green beads;
-glue gun and glue stick (can be replaced with any glue you have at home);
- green satin ribbon 0.6 cm wide;
- green corrugated paper;
-Christmas tree made of crepe paper for decoration;
-green Christmas tree ball.

How to make a topiary tree from threads with your own hands

We dilute the building plaster with water to form kefir, pour the diluted building plaster into a glass. Place the skewers in the center of the plaster.

We make a cone out of cardboard. We glue a wire in the upper part of the cone, rounding one end so that the wire holds tighter.

Glue the Christmas tree topiary blank onto skewers.

We wind the yarn from top to bottom, pre-coat the cone with PVA glue so that the yarn does not move out.

Be patient, slowly wind the yarn tightly onto the cone so that the New Year's topiary Christmas tree made of threads turns out neat and beautiful.

We also wrap the skewers with yarn.

Attach a green satin ribbon to the bottom of the cone with glue.

We attach a satin ribbon bow to the tail of the wire using glue.

We glue bows made of green satin ribbon onto the Christmas tree topiary in a checkerboard pattern. I hope that everyone knows how to tie bows, and if you don’t know how yet, you have the opportunity to learn.

Glue beads between the bows.

We glue decorative stars between the beads and bows.

We cover the pot with corrugated paper.

We glue decorative elements to the pot, and the topiary tree made from threads with our own hands, the photo of which is located below, is ready!

We also suggest you do something like this
