A mischievous look from underneath thick eyelashes- an old women's weapon. Eyebrows also play their role in the matter of charm: sometimes they rise coquettishly, sometimes they arch ironically. However, nature does not reward everyone with luxurious hairs in the eye area. So women have to extend, constantly tint and curl their eyelashes. For the sake of thick sable eyebrows, which are now in fashion, girls resort to tattooing.

The result of such procedures is sad: the hairs become thinner, discolored, do not grow and fall out. A natural care product - oil for eyelashes and eyebrows - can save them.

Operating principle

The hairs growing in the eye area are called bristly and are the strongest. Unlike those on the head, they grow several times slower and stop growing at a certain length. Both eyelashes and eyebrows are 97% keratin.

The growth of hair shafts is ensured by bulbs located in the skin at a depth of 2 mm. The upper eyelashes grow in 2–4 rows. They reach 1.2 cm in length. The lower eyelid can have either one or two rows of hairs. The length of these eyelashes does not exceed 0.8 cm. On average, the life of hairs in the eye area lasts 3–5 months.

Genes are responsible for the color, length, thickness and curl of eyelashes. Heredity dictates the shape and thickness of the eyebrows. At the same time, these hairs are very “responsive”: when proper care their length and density increases by 10–30%. This happens by strengthening and stimulating the growth of existing hair shafts.

You can take care of eyelashes and eyebrows with infusions medicinal herbs: cornflower, sage, calendula. It is useful to apply cotton pads soaked in warm green or black tea to your eyelids from time to time. Such compresses not only tone the skin around the eyes. Daily massage helps speed up hair growth in the eyebrow area.

The most effective skin care product is vegetable oil. The fatty acids it contains envelop each hair with a protective film. This coating does not allow water to pass through, keeping it inside the hair shaft. In addition, the oil smoothes the cuticle scales. As a result, eyelashes stop thinning, breaking, and discoloration. Oils are rich in tocopherols – antioxidant vitamins. They contain a lot of beta-carotene - provitamin A, which stimulates hair growth.

The best way to care for your hair is with special cosmetic oils. On the one hand, they are sufficiently cleaned and do not clog skin pores with foreign impurities. On the other hand, in such means the maximum is preserved useful composition. You need to apply oil for eyelash growth every evening for 1-2 months. The most convenient way to do this is with a well-washed and dried brush. The mascara tube itself is also useful: you can hold oil in it. The packaging is also thoroughly washed and dried beforehand. The product is poured inside with a pipette or syringe without a needle.

What oil is used for eyelashes? The following are considered the best for strengthening and growth.

  • Jojoba is an oil that resembles liquid wax. The raw material for its production are Simmondsia nuts. Hypoallergenic, suitable for sensitive skin.
  • Castor contains a unique ricinoleic acid, which ensures active hair growth. It is an extract from castor bean seeds.
  • Flaxseed is the leader in the content of polyunsaturated acids. It is considered a “female” product, as it is rich in phytoestrogens.
  • Sea buckthorn is squeezed from the seeds. In medicine and cosmetology it is valued for its regenerating properties and high vitamin C content.
  • Wheat is obtained from the germ of the cereal. It is quite heavy in texture, so it is often used as an additive.

Before applying the product, you need to remove makeup from your eyelids. Next, dip the brush (or cotton swab) into the oil and, lightly shaking off excess liquid, run the applicator from the middle of the lashes upwards. There is no need to “stain” the eyelid itself - the product will flow there on its own. If you wish, you can lightly walk along the lower eyelashes. Make sure there is a little oil on the brush. If you overdo it with the product, remove the excess with a cotton pad.

Homemade compositions for eyelash and eyebrow care

This drawback can be eliminated by mixing it with light oils: almond, apricot, grape. Before the first use, the resulting product must be tested for allergies: 1-2 hours before the procedure, apply the composition to the inside of the wrist and observe the skin reaction.

You can also prepare a macerate for lush and long eyelashes. Make an infusion based on burdock and castor oil. First, put chopped parsley (tbsp) and dry nettle extract (2 tbsp) into the bowl. The herbs are poured so that the oils completely cover them. At the end, add 15 ml of fresh aloe juice. Infuse the product for a day in a warm place. Then the macerate is filtered through gauze folded in half. The herbs are squeezed out. The finished infusion is poured into a glass container. Store the macerate sealed in a dark place.

Oil for eyebrow growth, obtained from the fruits of woad, better known as usma, works real miracles. Since ancient times, in the East, women have used the plant to tint their hair. However, woad is rich not only in pigments, but also in alkaloids, flavonoids, glucose, and vitamins. The oil composition is dominated by linoleic, oleic and stearic acid. This entire set of active substances stimulates cell division of hair follicles.

Usma gives a good effect in combination with burdock or almond oil. The ingredients are taken in equal parts. Eyebrow oil can be prepared from camphor (1 part) and usma (3 parts). Apply the composition according massage lines, leave for an hour, and then wash off warm water. Apply oil once every 3-4 days.
