Master class on making a New Year's toy from a plastic bottle “Grandfather Frost. DIY Santa Claus from scrap materials (nylon tights, fabric and cotton wool, plastic bottle and spoons, salt dough)

February 23

Do you want to beautifully decorate the table and interior for New Year's Eve? The traditional hero of the holiday is Father Frost. You can make it with your own hands original souvenir. Read tips, get ideas. They are all very simple and understandable. Even a beginner can make such a product.

Materials and tools

So that you get a beautiful and original craft"Father Frost and the Snow Maiden", just take the available means or buy them. They are inexpensive, but will allow you to make a very decorative, elegant thing. So, you will need the following:

  • A base that can be used as any bottle, glass or plastic. You can use unnecessary empty or which will be served at the table in New Year's Eve. From small bottles or yogurt jars or baby food do Christmas decorations, and from a five-liter water bottle they make full-fledged figures for the interior.
  • Decorative materials. The choice depends on what you have on hand or at your local craft store. It can be: bias tape, fabric, cotton wool, padding polyester, tinsel, sequins, beads, buttons, lace, braid, snowflakes, paper, foil - in a word, everything your imagination desires.
  • Scissors, glue, needle and thread, paints and brushes.

The necessary tools are determined by the method in which you will make the craft.

Santa Claus (do-it-yourself) from a bottle of champagne

You will be making the actual packaging or garment for the base, meaning it should be removable. This offers some benefits:

  • Allows you to use several times (for the next year).
  • Suitable as a separate gift for relatives (they will buy champagne themselves).
  • Such a souvenir can be made for sale.

Do-it-yourself Santa Claus craft from champagne is done in different ways. The methods may be:

  • Creating a costume from ribbons or with subsequent decoration.
  • Sewing or knitting clothes for figures.
  • Painting and surface decoration.

Choose the method that makes the most sense to you. Try a few or use what you have at home.

We sew a suit

Making Santa Claus from a bottle with your own hands is very simple, if you make an outfit separately, and then just put champagne in it. You are not a fashion designer, and comfort of clothing is not required here. The main thing is that she looks beautiful. A coat for Santa Claus can be sewn from two halves (for the front and back).

This is done like this:

  1. Draw an outline like a shirt or robe on a piece of paper or directly on fabric. Make the sleeves one piece with the front or back. It makes no sense to cut out the armhole and sew them in separately. Simplify everything. Make both parts the same.
  2. Sew the resulting parts from the inside out using a machine or by hand.
  3. Turn out and decorate at your discretion with any white trim (lace, braid, ribbon, frill, tinsel).

You don’t have to make sleeves for the costume, but if you want the Santa Claus craft to look more realistic, not only sew them, but also fill them with something (cotton wool, padding polyester or other stuffing). The bottom should be sewn up and something similar to mittens should be made. Make a hat or cap.

We tie the bottle

In this way, Santa Claus can be made from plastic or glass bottles. It is better to do this work with crochet.

The easiest way to create a tight-fitting red suit is to white decor sew on top. It can be either knitted or any other. They do it, of course, by immediately tying in a different color, but it’s more complicated. If you only know how to work with knitting needles and you have them, make a red “tube” on four knitting needles or circular knitting needles according to the principle of a regular sock.

We use ribbons and bias tape

A do-it-yourself elegant Santa Claus is made from a bottle by gluing ribbons to the base or directly to the bottle. It is better to use the first option so that the suit is removable. Why do this was stated above. So, do the following:

The Snow Maiden is made in the same way, only the colors of the ribbons are different, and instead of a hat they make a kokoshnik.

Paint the bottle

If you don't have time at all, use others simple ways. Craft Santa Claus from a bottle can be made using regular coloring surfaces.

To do this, do the following:

  1. If possible, it is better to soak the bottle labels, although this is not necessary. The same applies to degreasing the surface.
  2. Take red paint and a sponge or wide brush. Cover the surface of the bottle with it. In the case of champagne, up to the top golden label. Acrylic fits well. You can buy a can of white paint and tinting (red for Santa Claus, blue for Snow Maiden). You may have to do more than one layer, or even better, first prime it with white or a special compound. In a word, try to achieve an even colored surface.
  3. After drying, you make the decor: glue it white trim from ribbons, lace, tinsel. You can even use elements of decoupage, that is, ready-made napkins with decor, stencils.
  4. Process the finished product clear varnish to add shine and greater durability.

Plastic craft bottles: master class

Everyone usually has this material. Depending on the size of the bottle you can do like this Christmas tree toy, and a complete decoration for the interior.

To create such a souvenir, any of the technologies listed above are suitable.

You can try one more quick way. To make a beautiful and neat Santa Claus from plastic bottles, you need to do the following:

  1. Take a bottle and cover it with paper. This makes it easier to work in the future.
  2. Wrap the bottle with cloth or a red bag, together with the lid, and secure it with glue.
  3. Use cotton strands to trim coats and hats.
  4. Draw a face on cardboard and glue it to the base.
  5. Make hands from rectangles of fabric. Decorate the bottom with cotton wool in the form of cuffs. Glue the elements to the bottle.
  6. All that remains is to make the beard and accessories. The gift bag is usually sewn, and the staff is made from a pencil, rod or stick wrapped satin ribbons. A beard is usually made from cotton wool, but it can even be made from plastic spoons.

Using the same technology, you can make any figurine or even create a plot composition. So, the “Father Frost and Snow Maiden” craft will take its rightful place on your holiday table or under the Christmas tree.

Children will do this with great pleasure. If a bottle of champagne is for festive table You may not trust your child, but you will be happy to give away the plastic “waste” for creative research.

So, you have learned how to make a Santa Claus craft with your own hands from scrap materials. All options are very easy to do. Even a child can cope with this task, so you can turn preparing decorations and souvenirs for the home and gifts into an exciting family activity.

Snow Maiden and Santa Claus made of cotton wool and a plastic bottle

How to make Santa Claus with your own hands?
New Year"on the nose", and there is no Santa Claus under your Christmas tree? I propose to make a grandfather out of plastic cup from yogurt (Actimel or Imunele).
We will also need cotton wool, cotton balls, cotton pads and paste. Well, paints, brushes, scissors, glue of course :)

So, where to start making our favorite New Year's guest?

Perhaps first let's cook the paste.
1 tbsp. dissolve a spoonful of starch in small quantity water and pour, stirring continuously, into 250 ml of boiling water. Bring to a boil, but not to a boil, and cool. This is, of course, a job for adults.

We take cotton balls and disks, bathe them one at a time in the paste and place them on a plate. After drying, they separate easily. If you don't want to get your hands dirty, you can use a wooden straw. But you won’t be able to get by completely without getting your hands wet. Sometimes it is necessary to squeeze out excess paste, and some parts from disks need to be formed immediately before drying. For example, we made the sleeves for Santa Claus's fur coat from rolled up disks.

And for children, it’s generally a pleasure to tinker and get dirty in the paste with cotton wool! The paste is very interesting to the touch, slippery, warm and most importantly not harmful! This is not glue for you, apply it to your health :)

This is how we got a head from a cotton ball, two sleeve cones for Santa Claus’s fur coat, and a hat (from half a cotton ball).
Santa Claus himself was made by gluing a glass with cotton pads using paste.

When all the parts have dried (and this happened the next day for us), you can start painting. The colors I chose were gouache. It is easy to apply, opaque and hides minor irregularities on my grandfather's sheepskin coat. This work is quite capable of being done by a child.

When the paint has dried, glue the body, head and hat to each other with PVA glue. And then we decorate Santa Claus’ sheepskin coat with cotton wool. The child liked this activity the most! Collar, sleeves, hat, beard and mustache:) Red nose - made from a ball of cotton wool, black eyes - and voila:)

It would also be nice to embellish our Grandfather. For example, glue snowflakes to his sheepskin coat. They are very easy to make by painting the star pasta with white gouache. When the pasta is dry, it is easy to glue them with PVA glue. Like this:

Santa Claus must have a golden staff in his hand! Let's take a twig (my child and I found it on the street), glue it to one end paper star, and paint it with gold paint.

Well, and most importantly, what can you imagine Santa Claus without? Ask any child about this. Of course, without a bag of gifts!
We have to make a bag out of corrugated paper Red. Please note - it is made from corrugation, because... it is soft, even somewhat reminiscent of fabric.
Cut out a square of paper required size(I took 20x20 cm). We bend 1 cm inward on 3 sides, fold the square in half and glue the bag. (Simply put, imagine that you are sewing a bag out of fabric, you need to add seam allowances, turn them inside out... well, everything is exactly the same, only with glue and no need to turn them inside out)
We fill the bag with GIFTS! (with cotton wool, of course)
We tie it and solemnly present it to Santa Claus!

The most important of the guests

Who is wearing a smart, warm fur coat?
With a long white beard,
Comes to visit on New Year's Day,
Both ruddy and gray-haired?
He plays with us, dances,
It makes the holiday more fun!
- Santa Claus on our Christmas tree
The most important of the guests!

Snow Maiden made of cotton wool and a plastic bottle

Santa Claus is ready and waiting under your Christmas tree New Year's Eve, but the trouble is - he is alone. Isn't it time to think about his granddaughter Snegurka?
How to make it?

From:
- a plastic yogurt cup (Actimel or Imunele)
- cotton wool
- cotton balls
- cotton pads
- wool threads yellow color
- starch
- glue
- paints
- and pasta :)

The basis of the Snow Maiden is a bottle covered with cotton pads using paste.
To work with the paste, you need to cool it and pour it into a plate.
Prepare cotton pads and pads and a clean plastic bottle in advance.
This action can also be performed by a child. Let's take it cotton pads and one by one we drop them into the paste and glue them onto the bottle. I needed 6 disks to cover the entire bottle. The seventh disk was glued on top of the neck. Then it will be very convenient to attach the Snow Maiden’s head to it.
The head and hat are made from a cotton ball dipped in paste, the hands are made from cotton pads rolled into a cone. All cotton elements need to dry thoroughly before they can be worked with further.

When all the parts have dried (and this happened the next day for us), you can start painting. I chose gouache paints, blue color. The gouache is easy to apply, opaque and hides small irregularities in the snow maiden’s fur coat. This work is quite capable of being done by a child.

The paint has dried, which means you can grab your head... snow maidens :)
dried out cotton ball color in pink color, draw the Snow Maiden’s face on it. We braid the braid from yellow threads and glue it to the head with PVA glue, glue a hat on top, which we decorate with cotton wool.

While the head is drying, we work on the body.
We glue the hands with glue, decorate the fur coat with cotton wool and white snowflakes.
Snowflakes are small pasta that was previously painted with white gouache and dried. The pasta sticks perfectly with PVA glue or regular stationery glue.

Now all that remains is to connect the head with the body and here she is, our Snow Maiden:

Snow Maiden

I live with Grandfather, Grandfather Frost
The cheeks are rosy and tender, like roses.
The blizzard braided my brown hair,
The winds made the sled so that it could slide down the mountain.
I congratulate you all on a happy holiday,
Happy and wonderful New Year!

For work we need:

5 liter plastic bottle(they are cylindrical and square - there is no difference);

disposable spoons 50 pcs;

foil (oilcloth) for decorating bouquets of blue or red. (the main thing is not to get wet);

thick white bag;

cover red from bottle 1,5l.

glue and hot gun;

large scissors (I have kitchen ones).

So let's get started. First you need to remove the handle on the lid, if there is one. Wrapping it up bottle in oilcloth and glued with tape (Fig. 1,2.)

Now let's start working with spoons. Carefully cut off the handle of the spoon. Difficulties may arise here - spoons crack. In order to avoid this, I did not cut it to the exact size. "spine", but left 2 cm and slowly cut it to the desired length (Fig. 3) Cut two spoons in half for eyebrows. One will not work - they will crack. If it's not straight, you can sharpen the edges with a nail file.

When all the spoons are cut, we begin to assemble our Santa Claus. Glue the spoons to the bottom bottles, form the hem of the fur coat (Fig. 4) A tip is to warm up the gun in advance so that the glue is liquid.

From a white bag and cut a rectangle, (if the package is wrinkled, it needs to be ironed) and glue it on bottle(Fig. 5) glue on eyes, nose, eyebrows (Fig. 6)

Let's start with the beard. We start from the very bottom, slowly rising to the top (Fig. 7) It doesn’t matter if the package peeks out from under the spoons - it can be cut off with nail scissors. (Fig. 8)

Form a hat with spoons. Before you start making the pompom, unscrew the lid and lower a piece of tinsel or strong thread (for loop) and close the lid.

We pass tinsel along the hem, hat and around the pompom. (Fig. 9) Our grandpa is ready. HAVE FUN NEW YEAR!
