DIY New Year's toys. Christmas ball-web

For children

It’s already December, time flies so quickly, very soon New Year. There's only a little time left before that have a wonderful holiday and we are starting to slowly prepare for it. Let's start with toys for the Christmas tree.

Materials and tools

To make a Christmas tree ball-web with your own hands we need the following:

  • Regular spool of thread;
  • Silicate office glue in a plastic bottle;
  • A balloon, fingertip or disposable rubber glove (available at the pharmacy);
  • Needle;
  • Jar for spools of thread;
  • Scissors;
  • Glue for gluing decorations;
  • And the decorations themselves are beads, braid, ribbon, in general, everything that can be used to decorate our Christmas tree ball.

Detailed description of how the toy is made

So let's get started...
First, let's prepare everything for work:

1. Place the spool in a jar so that the thread unwinds easily and freely;
2. We will thread the thread into the needle and pierce the bottle of office glue, remove the needle, and pull the thread into different sides and check that it easily passes through the punctures in the bottle;
3. Let's cheat balloon or a fingertip, or we cut off a finger from a glove and inflate it until required size, tie it with thread.
Now take the inflated ball and begin to wrap it with thread, evenly moistened with glue, slowly, carefully, to form a cocoon. It took me about half a spool of thread to make one ball. The wet cocoon should be left to dry for about 2-4 hours. When the cocoon dries, we pierce the ball with a needle and carefully pull it out. The Christmas ball-web is ready (Fig. 3).
Now we decorate: you can glue beads, multi-colored circles, braid, pictures, in general, decorate it the way you like.
But there is something in all of this unpleasant moments: sometimes the balls don’t turn out - they shrink after the ball bursts 🙁 (Fig. 4). This happens for several reasons: either the cocoon has not dried yet, or there is not enough glue (the hole in the bottle is too small), or there is so much glue that the threads stick to the ball. We also tried to wind the cocoon with a thread dipped in PVA glue, but the ball did not turn out at all.

When making a ball, you can use yarn (threads) of any color or paint it with any paint or glitter (spray). Especially for the New Year, you can decorate this thread ball with tinsel and stars. Hang small balls on the Christmas tree, decorate the room with large ones. Fantasize boldly!

If you are unable to wind glue-soaked thread onto a ball, you can wind dry thread and then thoroughly soak it in glue using a brush or sponge.

You can use it instead of glue sugar syrup or starch paste. To prepare the paste, take 3 teaspoons of starch per glass cold water, mix thoroughly and bring to a boil. Instead of thread, you can take a thin one copper wire and also wrap it around the ball.

We also made a ball of pink thread, but haven't decorated it yet. And we wound one around a ball elongated shape, and after drying, painted it using a spray spray with acrylic paint. This is what they look like:

Balls made from threads look very attractive and do not require any special skills or money. Many did them at school during labor lessons. And the use of these web balls is limitless: simply as a decorative element, as a lampshade, and as a New Year's toys. From several of these balls of thread you can make all kinds of toys: snowmen, birds, fish. In general, everything that is enough for your imagination.

Helpful advice. When they took out the balloon, the threads managed to stick to it in places and the balloon shrank. I straightened the shape of the balloon with my hands and fixed it with hairspray. The bow remained from the gift, some of the petals were inserted inside, the ball is held under its own weight without glue. Photo below. (Natalia Petrovskaya)

Using this principle, for Easter you can make cobwebs in the shape of an egg, also decorating them as you wish 😉

P O P U L A R N O E:

    Many people have bicycles. I want it to be always reliable and beautiful! Without special costs and extra wires, using magnets and LEDs, you can create beautiful effect. When moving, especially in dark time day there will be a multi-colored glow inside the bicycle wheel.

It’s already December, time flies so quickly, New Year is very soon. There is little time left before this wonderful holiday and we are slowly starting to prepare for it. Let's start with toys for the Christmas tree.

Now we decorate: you can glue beads, multi-colored circles, braid, pictures, in general, decorate it the way you like.
But there are unpleasant moments in all this: sometimes the balls don’t turn out - they shrink after the ball bursts

(Fig. 4). This happens for several reasons: either the cocoon has not dried yet, or there is not enough glue (the hole in the bottle is too small), or there is so much glue that the threads stick to the ball. We also tried to wind the cocoon with a thread dipped in PVA glue, but the ball did not turn out at all.

Instead of glue, you can use sugar syrup or starch paste. To prepare the paste, take 3 teaspoons of starch per glass of cold water, mix thoroughly and bring to a boil. Instead of a thread, you can take a thin copper wire and wind it around the ball in the same way.

We also made a ball of pink thread, but haven't decorated it yet. And we wound one around an elongated ball, and after drying, we painted it using a spray bottle with acrylic paint. This is what they look like:

Balls made from threads look very attractive and do not require any special skills or money. Many did them at school during labor lessons. And the use of these web balls is limitless: simply as a decorative element, as a lampshade, and as New Year’s toys. From several of these balls of thread you can make all kinds of toys: snowmen, birds, fish. In general, everything that is enough for your imagination.

Next new year idea: balls made of thread, very simple, even novice needlewomen can handle them :) They can decorate not only the Christmas tree, but the whole house. Also, this not bad idea for a gift. Balloons can be made together with children. To work you will need a balloon and thread.

You need threads (any color, cotton, wool or acrylic), an inflatable ball and PVA glue.

Option 1. Inflate the balloon until the right size, it is important here that it remains round in shape.

Mix 3 tbsp. sugar, 1/2 tbsp. water and about the same amount of PVA glue. Dip the threads into this mixture. I estimated the quantity per ball “by eye”.

We begin to wrap the ball with threads.

It turns out like this. The more layers of thread, the stronger the ball will be, but if you wind too much, it loses its airiness and transparency.

Leave to dry for 1 day.

This method has a number of disadvantages that I encountered during my work. Firstly, it is difficult to calculate the required number of threads. Secondly, threads soaked in glue get tangled and splash when wound. If you make one ball for testing, it's fine. If there are several, you can be tortured.

Therefore, we have in stock option 2:

Pierce a jar of glue or a plastic cup thick needle on both sides.

We thread the thread straight from the skein into the holes, without cutting, and pour glue. Slowly pulling the thread through the cup, we wind it around the ball. It wets itself in the glue, everything turns out much neater. When winding is finished, tie the end of the thread in a knot and hang the ball to dry. It's best to hang it with a string. You should not take risks and dry the ball near heating devices, since rubber does not like this. Hot air may cause the balloon to burst. The ball needs to be dried thoroughly, usually 1 day is enough. There's no need to rush. It is important.

When the balloons are dry, carefully deflate the balloons. If done carefully, they can be used several more times.

Well, the web is ready! These balls can be hung on a Christmas tree, or you can decorate a shelf or table.

Balloons small size easy to adapt as Christmas decorations or for window decoration. You can make a snowman out of them and others funny figures. You can glue something to the surface of the ball, for example, glitter, pictures. From big ball You can even make a cobweb-like lampshade for a lamp by firmly attaching the socket with the light bulb to the ball.

And a few more words about threads. If you are preparing an air structure, then the threads should be thin and light. And if you are doing something substantial, for example, flower pots, then it is better to take thick threads or even ropes and do not skimp on glue. The thread color can be any. True, it depends on the glue used. When the glue is transparent and leaves no traces, you can experiment by wrapping the ball with threads different shades. It will turn out even more interesting.

Homemade garland

To create these balls we need this paper string

Well, if you decide to make these balls for year-round decor, then unleash your imagination as you please :)) Beautiful flower composition it will look very attractive on such a ball :) These balls can be decorated with artificial flowers and green twigs, as well as homemade paper or fabric ones.

Additionally, they can be decorated with any floral material: skeletonized leaves, beads and pearls, feathers, and so on. These balls can be woven in several sizes and hung from larger to smaller, thus creating an original pendant. If you bought long balloons like tubes and inflated them, connected them together, and wound twine on top in this way, you would get another original look decor. And if you inflate a narrow balloon with a ring on one side, tie it, pull it towards the center, then you will get the shape of a heart, here is the basis for your Valentine :))

To make a Christmas ball-web with your own hands we need the following:

An ordinary spool of thread, a balloon or fingertip (they are sold at the pharmacy), thread, glue (PVA or silicate in a plastic bottle), scissors, Vaseline, sunflower oil or any fat cream, various decorations- ribbons, beads, etc.

Step 1. Inflate the balloon to the desired size.

Step 2. Lubricate the surface of the ball with Vaseline. This is necessary because we will wind threads soaked in glue around the ball, and we need them to not stick to the ball, and then, when dry, to move away from it well.

Step 3. The threads must be soaked with glue. There are several ways, choose the most convenient for yourself.

Pour the glue into some container that is convenient to work with, and soak the threads in it for 2-3 minutes. PVA glue must be diluted with water before soaking, as it is too thick.
Take a plastic Kinder Surprise egg and make holes in it at the lower and upper ends. Pour glue into the egg. Instead of a Kinder Surprise egg, you can take any small plastic bottle, for example, from a medicine or from the same silicate glue.
You can immediately wrap the thread around the ball (skip step 4 and go straight to step 5), and then thoroughly saturate the thread with glue using a brush or sponge.
Step 4: Before proceeding with this step, we recommend putting on latex gloves and an apron to avoid getting dirty. We take a spool or ball of thread, thread the thread into a needle and pull the needle through the holes made in the plastic bottle. The thread, passing through the bottle, will be evenly wetted with glue.

Step 5. Tie the end of the thread to the ball and begin to wind it evenly, like a ball - each turn in the opposite direction. You can make as many revolutions as you want, but don’t be lazy: if you make too few revolutions, the ball will turn out ugly and will not be able to hold its shape well.

Step 6. Once you have finished winding, secure the end of the thread with a knot.

Step 7. Hang the ball with threads to dry in a warm place. It takes 1-2 days for the glue to completely dry and harden. You should not try to speed up the process by hanging the balloon next to a heating device - the rubber from which the balloons are made does not like this, and the hot air can cause the balloon to burst.

Step 8. When the glue dries, the balloon needs to be removed from our craft. You can carefully pierce it with a needle so that it does not burst, but gradually deflates, you can untie the knot with which it was tied.

Step 9. Carefully remove the balloon, or what's left of it, from the web.

Step 10. The finished ball-web can be decorated with small ribbons, beads, bows, beads, etc.

Greetings, masters and craftswomen!

Materials and toolsthat we need:

— Balloon (for smaller volumes, use finger pads, which are sold in pharmacies; for larger volumes, inflatable balls);

— Threads (any thread is suitable: regular threads for sewing, floss, iris, wool for knitting);

— Glue (PVA, silicate, stationery);

— Needle, scissors;

— Vaseline (you can use thick cream or oil);

— For decoration: beads, feathers, beads, sparkles, semolina or powdered sugar, etc.

Step-by-step instructions on how to make a ball from threads:

1. Inflate the balloon to the desired size. Wrap a thread around the tail of the ball with a reserve of ~10 cm - for the future loop on which the ball will subsequently be hung to dry.

2. Lubricate the surface of the ball with Vaseline to make it easier to detach from the glued threads later.

3. Soak the threads with glue. When using thread different colors, very beautiful weaves are obtained.

There are several ways:

  • Pour the glue into some container that is convenient for you to work with, and soak the threads in it for 5-10 minutes. Dilute PVA glue with water (1:1) before soaking, as it is too thick. Make sure that the threads do not get tangled when soaking.
  • Take a tube of glue and use a hot needle to make two holes in it opposite each other. Thread a thread through the holes using a needle (when pulled through the tube, the thread will be smeared with glue). Instead of a bottle of glue, you can take a Kinder Surprise egg, or another small plastic bottle, for example, a medicine bottle or the same silicate glue, and pour the glue into it.
  • Wind the dry thread around the ball (skip step 4 and go straight to step 5), and then thoroughly saturate it with glue using a brush or sponge.
  • 4. Secure the end of the thread soaked in glue to the ball (to secure the thread to the inflatable ball, you can use adhesive tape, tape, or protective tape). Then randomly wrap the thread around the entire surface of the ball, like a ball - each turn in the opposite direction. If the threads are thick, make fewer turns; if the threads are thin, wind them more tightly. Hold the threads in your hands with a slight tension, and also make sure that the thread is well wetted with glue. If the can runs out of glue, refill it.

    5. After winding, leave again a long tail for the loop, wind it again around the tail of the ball, cut the thread and hang the ball wrapped in thread to dry. Dry the ball thoroughly for 1-2 days - the finished cocoon should be hard. Do not try to speed up the process by hanging the balloon next to a heating device - the rubber from which balloons are made does not like this, and the hot air may burst the balloon. An indispensable thing for drying is a clothes dryer with clothespins. You can dry several balls on the dryer at once, and they will not stick together.

    6. When the glue has completely dried and hardened, the balloon must be removed from the web craft.

    There are two ways:

    1. Peel the ball off the web using a pencil with an eraser at the end. Carefully pierce the ball with a needle in several places and remove it or what is left of it.

    2. Untie the knot that tied the balloon and it will gradually deflate. This method is mainly practiced when, instead of hot air balloon you used a beach ball as a base for winding.

    7. Glue the finished cobweb balls together with a hot gun, pressing the gluing area slightly inward. The balls can also be sewn together, but this is not easy, because the balls become very strong and hard when dry.

    8. Decorate the resulting design with beads, beads, feathers, braid, ribbons, artificial flowers, or any other available materials. Cover with paint. To do this, take a can of paint and go out onto the balcony or into the yard. With a slight movement of your hand, direct the colorful streams towards the balls awaiting a miraculous transformation. Create a snow effect: moisten the balls with glue and dip them in semolina or powdered sugar. Spray the ball with glitter hairspray. Don't expect much shine, but light sparkles are guaranteed.

    Imagine...

    small BIG tricks:

    To prevent the table from getting dirty during the wrapping process, it is better to lay something plastic on it, not paper - everything will stick to the paper. Will fit plastic coasters under hot. If not, you can use a document corner made of thick plastic. The bottom seam is cut off, the folder is unbent and straightened, and it turns out universal remedy to save the table from glue, paint and other creative deposits. In extreme cases, polyethylene will be suitable to protect the workplace.

    Instead of glue, you can use sugar syrup or paste. Recipe for making paste: 4 teaspoons of starch per glass of cold water, mix thoroughly and bring to a boil.

    Instead of thread, you can take thin copper wire and wind it around the ball in the same way.

    To prevent glue from leaking through the hole in the floss tube, place a thin needle on the end of the floss and poke a piece of tape through it. Pull the thread in the opposite direction and firmly glue this tape to the jar. Thus, through a small hole in the electrical tape, the glue will not wet the thread so abundantly and will stop randomly dripping from the thread onto the table and clothes.

    Be careful when winding the kokan. When dried, a poorly tied cocoon cracks and loses its shape as the ball descends.

    Spider web balls can be not only spherical in shape. You can take a cone-shaped object as a basis for winding (roll it into a cone thick paper or cardboard), heart, etc.

    If you decide to change the color of a thread ball, then it is best to paint the ball before deflating and removing its base - so that the web does not become wrinkled when painting. In addition to aerosols, it is convenient to apply paint with a small sponge, but inconvenient with a brush and takes much longer.

    To make the surface of the ball textured, you can coat the balls with glue and roll them in cereals, for example, millet or coffee beans.

    And a few more words about threads...

    If an air structure is being prepared, then the threads should be thin and light. For flower pots, it is better to take thick threads or even ropes and do not skimp on glue. The thread color can be any. True, it depends on the glue used. When the glue is transparent and leaves no traces, you can experiment by wrapping the ball with threads of different shades. It will turn out even more interesting.

    The use of cobweb balls is limitless: simply as a decorative element, as a lampshade, and as New Year's toys. From several of these balls of thread you can make snowmen, birds, and fish.

    Fantasy is limitless, let's use it!
    Good luck to you and your children in CREATIVITY!

    PS: It is very interesting to look inside the ball through the cracks between the threads, it seems that there is another world inside. No, honestly, it’s impossible to tear yourself away
