Mom

Many people associate New Year's holidays with the smells of tangerines, fresh needles and cinnamon. Today we offer to make cute crafts: do-it-yourself Christmas trees from cinnamon sticks. Handmade Christmas decorations with cinnamon sticks are not only easy to create, but also very beautiful, charming and fragrant. They are great for decorating a Christmas tree and creating fragrant holiday garlands. Window decorations and Christmas wreaths, wall and door decorations with cinnamon Christmas trees enhance the spirit of the beloved winter holiday.

  • cinnamon sticks (can be bought in supermarkets);
  • satin ribbons of different colors and small width (1 cm);
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • iron;
  • starch or hairspray;
  • twine or rope for a loop.

Progress of work: do-it-yourself Christmas trees from cinnamon sticks

⇒ Step 1. Start by cutting 15-20 cm pieces of ribbon. You will need approximately six ribbons for each decoration, depending on the length of the cinnamon stick. Tie 6 pieces of ribbon around the cinnamon stick:

⇒ Step 2. At this stage, you can stiffen the ribbons by spraying them with a starch solution and ironing them. Alternatively, you can simply coat the ribbons with hairspray. Then, using scissors, start at the end you want and cut towards the "bottom" of the tree diagonally, making the tape longer at the base. Repeat on the other side. The ribbons at the base of the tree should be longer than the top.

⇒ Step 3. Cut a piece of twine or twine for a loop. Put a drop of glue on the "top" of your tree and attach the ends of the twine to the cinnamon stick. Tie a small ribbon bow of your desired color and glue it to the bottom of the twine to mask the attachment point. Wait for the glue to dry before hanging the craft on the tree.

Variants of Christmas trees from cinnamon sticks

Instead of ribbons, you can use small coniferous branches of a Christmas tree, arborvitae or pine, both artificial and natural. They can be glued directly to the cinnamon sticks with glue, which will act as a tree trunk. Branches can be decorated with beads, small buttons, ribbon bows.

Also, a New Year's craft can be completely made from cinnamon sticks, that is, stick other sticks perpendicular to the "trunk" of two sticks, which will be branches. To make the branches shorter, the sticks can simply be broken or cut off with a knife (scissors), but carefully so as not to crumble. Christmas trees made entirely of cinnamon sticks can be decorated with dried fruits, candied fruits, cranberries, coffee beans, etc.

Christmas trees from cinnamon sticks in the interior

We wish you all a happy, cozy and fragrant New Year's holidays!

Candles always add cosiness to the interior, and if you add the warm scent of cinnamon to them, they will become even cozier - just what you need for cold autumn and winter evenings. Candles are easy to make and you don't even have to leave your home to buy special scents. If you don't want to melt the wax yourself, you can make a simple cinnamon-scented candle with a table candle and cinnamon sticks (the scent won't be as intense, but you can still smell it).

Steps

Cinnamon scented candle

    Using hot glue, glue the wick to the bottom of an empty 120 ml glass container. Find a wick that already has a metal plate (weight) attached to it and squeeze a drop of hot glue onto the underside of the plate. Quickly press the weight onto the bottom of the glass container.

    Place two pencils on top of the container and pull the wick between them. You can also use pens, markers, chopsticks, or even lollipop sticks to do this. Your goal is to keep the wick upright.

    Melt the wax. Pour the wax into a glass measuring cup, then place the cup in a large saucepan. Fill the pan with water so that the water level reaches the level of the wax in the mug, just keep in mind that water should not get into the mug with wax. Bring the water to a boil over medium heat, then wait until the wax has dissolved, stirring occasionally.

    Remove the wax measuring cup from the pan and stir in 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon with a wooden skewer. For a richer scent, add 15 drops of cinnamon essential oil. If you want a more complex scent, try adding 1 teaspoon of vanillin (vanilla extract) and ½ teaspoon of ground cloves to the wax.

    • Use oven mitts to hold the measuring cup as it will get very hot.
  1. Pour the wax into a candle container. If air bubbles appear, take a wooden skewer and run it along the inner walls of the container - this will push the bubbles to the surface.

    • Be careful not to move the wick to the side: make sure that it is firmly clamped with chopsticks on both sides.
  2. Wait until the wax hardens, then remove the sticks that hold the wick. It may take 4-5 hours for the candle to completely harden. If you are in a hurry, you can put the candle in the refrigerator to speed up the process.

    Trim the wick with scissors, leaving about 6 millimeters on the surface. So you will not only increase the burning time of the candle, but also prevent the candle from smoking and smoking.

    Light a candle. Place the candle on a heat-resistant surface and light the wick. If you made a pumpkin candle, use the candle within a few days, as pumpkin is a perishable product.

Simple cinnamon scented candle

    Find a short, unscented table candle. The candle can be any size you want, but remember that you will be decorating it with cinnamon sticks. Accordingly, the thicker your candle, the more sticks you will need.

    • Take a candle the same height as the cinnamon sticks.
    • Instead, you can take a tea light and put it in a church candle glass.
    • To spice up your creation, try a vanilla-scented candle. The smell of cinnamon goes well with the smell of vanilla.
  1. Put a rubber band on the candle and place it in the center of the candle. If you decide to use a glass for a church candle, put a rubber band on the glass. The rubber band will hold the cinnamon sticks together. Don't worry about how your candle looks now with the elastic in the most visible place - later you will disguise it with decorative elements.

    Start tucking the cinnamon sticks under the gum. Continue adding sticks until the candle (or candle glass) is completely covered and there are no gaps between the sticks. The final number of cinnamon sticks will depend on the thickness of the candle or glass.

    Align the cinnamon sticks. It's okay if the sticks are of different heights or protrude above the top of the candle, but they should all be at the same level below. Gently tap the bottom of the candle on a flat surface (such as a table) until the cinnamon sticks are level at the base of the candle. So you will make the candle more stable, and it will not stagger.

  2. Hide the elastic by wrapping it with ribbon. To make a rustic candle, you can use a strip of burlap instead of a ribbon. You can also wrap the elastic with food twine or jute thread, and tie the ends with a bow: to hide the elastic, you will need to wrap the candle over it several times.

    • You can use any ribbon or thread you want, but warm colors (burgundy, copper, or brown) work best. You can also use plaid fabric or ribbon to keep the rustic style going, rough fabric ribbon will also look great.
    • If you're using food twine, consider options in white and red or red and cream. So your candle will look more interesting.
  3. As a final touch, you can try adding decorative elements. Such candles themselves look quite rustic, so everything related to autumn, winter or cozy village houses will look win-win. Small twigs are great, especially those with red berries. These twigs and berries do not have to be real; in craft stores, you will find many real-life plastic decorations that will retain their appearance for many years.

    • If you are making candles for the winter, you can use holly leaves and red berries as decor. You can even find miniature artificial branches covered with ice “crystals”.
    • If you are making candles for the fall, you can take something simple - just a bare branch or a branch with red berries.
    • If you used plaid fabric or ribbons, glue a plastic button of a matching color over the bow.
    • If you're making a candle from scratch by melting wax and the scent isn't strong enough for your taste, you can add more cinnamon essential oil. You can also use a special cinnamon scent for candles.
    • Make lots of cinnamon-scented candles to give away as gifts.
    • Mix scents and compose your scents. If you are making a candle with cinnamon sticks, use a scented table candle as the base. A pine or vanilla smell goes great with a cinnamon scent!

And the approach of bright holidays brings everyone a desire to decorate their homes. As usual, there will be a beautiful Christmas tree or pine, all in shiny toys; there will be garlands with many flashing lights; there will be gifts and wishes of happiness. Aroma of cinnamon and coffee

For many, the cold season is associated not only with snow, sledding and the New Year, but also with warm mulled wine, fragrant coffee and delicious gingerbread. When creating a creative candlestick, it is quite possible to use whole coffee beans and cinnamon sticks.

With the help of these simple decorative elements, you will get very effective, attractive and fragrant accessories. This does not require a lot of time or money investments. Coffee beans can be of any variety and at the lowest price point, cinnamon sticks can be found in any spice store or art supplies.

Wood decor often looks impressive and complements the interior with notes of comfort. Of course, to create it with your own hands, you will need some knowledge, skills and materials. Finding great video tutorials and step-by-step master classes is not difficult. Finding the right tools shouldn't be difficult either. You can purchase several birch cuts or stumps, make recesses for candles in them and the candlesticks are ready.

Also, to create cozy accessories, thin sheets of plywood are useful, which can be painted white, green or red. They are especially relevant in winter, besides, it will be possible to place the right color accents in the interior.

Spruce and pine cones

In the cold season, spruce and pine cones are ideal for decorating a home space. They set the New Year mood, bring fashionable eco-notes, and are simply pleasing to the eye. You can simply lay them out near transparent candlesticks or make a composition of several pieces. For example, tie two or three cones together with a jute rope, decorate with artificial snow or glitter glue. This will create a flickering magical effect, the space will clearly come to life, and the interior picture will be filled with a special atmosphere.

Berries to the rescue

Winter berries are also appropriate to use as decoration. Suitable, as individual berries, and whole branches. The options look great when viburnum or mountain ash is immersed in water and surrounded by sprigs of rosemary, and a candle is held on top of the water. Such decorative elements will be a spectacular addition to the festive table.

red ribbon

Jute ropes, satin ribbons, pieces of textile - these details can add a special zest to your decorative composition. For winter decoration of the interior space, use a colorful red color. It is bright and stylish, will dilute the most boring space and help create a New Year's atmosphere. It can be safely combined with green, white, silver.

Knitted "sweaters" for candles

For lovers of knitting, there is a great idea - candles can be dressed in cozy and funny “clothes”. By the way, such “sweaters” are suitable not only for decorating candles, but also for decorating cups. With them, the interior will instantly change, it will really become warmer and filled with a warm haze of comfort.

Composition with Christmas decorations

Even if there is still a little more than a month left before the New Year, this does not interfere with creating a festive mood and enjoying the beauty of your own interior. Decorating is a good way to get rid of the blues that overcomes many in the cold season. You can create an interesting composition of Christmas decorations and scented candles. So the interior will turn out to decorate, and raise the mood on a cold, unfriendly day.
