Cake box

A cake box purchased from a well-known store in your city will keep the intrigue until the gift is opened. Because everyone, including the birthday boy, will be sure that the box contains an ordinary cake from the store. When choosing a box, keep in mind that the size of the usable area inside the base must be no less than 200*200 mm. Otherwise, you will have to resize the layout as you see fit.

Calculating the layout is, of course, painstaking and not quick. But we have already made it and are happy to share it with you. You need to print it on plain paper A4 format. When printing in the settings, be sure to select "Real size" or uncheck the box "Fit to page" depending on what program you will be printing from. This is necessary to ensure that the proportions of the parts are correctly preserved.

We printed out the first sheet with the layout of the piece in two copies to practice gluing it together. We advise you to try it too. We got it like this:

Cut and assemble

In the diagram for the arrangement of parts on sheets of cardboard, instead of 10 pieces of pieces, we made 11 specifically so that we could go shopping with this extra box and pick up flowers, ribbons and bows. Our paper cake ik is almost ready, but we decided to just fill it with different delicious sweets It won't be interesting enough. So the idea came to turn this wonderful gift into fun game and put pieces of paper with tasks from craft paper in each piece. To do this, we drew 10 rectangles measuring 10*7 cm and wrote various tasks on them that relate to the hero of the occasion. The sheet was then cut into individual rectangles and rolled into tubes. We came up with tasks that each of those present could do:

In our case, the base of the box from the store was simply gray and white, so the chocolate cake looked nothing like it, and certainly didn’t have the “Wow!” effect. when opening the box. Therefore, the base definitely needs to be covered with craft paper on which the assignments were written. Then you can put the candies with the “scrolls” into boxes, but don’t forget to put ten fresh coffee beans in each box. When opening the cake, the noble smell of coffee will appear and add a romantic note to the delight of the first impression.

We learned through experience that the cake stand needed to be a little larger than originally planned. Due to the thickness of the paper, satin ribbon and sweets inside the boxes, the pieces become larger! This is already taken into account in the layout that you downloaded from our website)

For the cake box we will need:

Template for the box (you can use the one I suggested);
- cardboard;
- satin ribbons, half beads, paper flowers;
- printer, scissors, glue, blade or stationery knife.

First, print out a template on a piece of cardboard and cut it out. We transfer this template to cardboard, which will serve as the basis for your boxes. I have an old, but very good Canon IP1500 printer, this one is no longer on sale, it easily prints everything I need, even on cardboard. Therefore, to make my work easier, I simply printed out a template on each sheet of cardboard and then cut out the finished and lined one.

When you have cut out the template, run it along all the fold lines and fold it. You almost have a piece of cardboard cake, you just need to glue the places indicated on the template. Cut along the line so that you can close this box.

Once your base is ready, let's start decorating it. First, let's make the so-called layers of the cake. This will help us satin ribbon 1cm wide and 0.3cm white and beige colour. Glue the tape one on one around the box. All that remains is to decorate your “piece of cake” on top. I used half beads to separate the edges of the box and the flower (after all, what birthday cake no flowers).

If you make a lot of these boxes, then fold them into a cake shape and only then decorate them. This will help you correctly distribute the decor among all the boxes and in the end you will succeed complete picture, which will resemble a real delicious cake.

Fold the blank and glue it. Our blank will not open, so we also glue the back part. If you want your cake to open, cut a slit along the line indicated on the back.

Once the piece of cake is glued together, you can start decorating. To make fluffy cream, you need to take corrugated paper white or cream color and two handle rods.
Cut a piece of paper 15 cm long and 1.5 times wider than the back of the cake. Visually divide the strip in half, wrap the paper around one paste until it reaches the middle. Do the same on the other side. Without removing, squeeze the paper into an accordion shape. Remove the paper.

Make several accordions, glue them to back wall cake. The top accordion should protrude from the top.
Make single corrugated tubes at the top. Glue them along the edge.

Glue on the sides white stripe paper - a layer of white cream.

Now you can decorate with roses. Cut out a circle with a diameter of 17mm. Make a circular spiral out of it. Roll the rosette from the edge to the middle. Make a petal out of free spiral. Glue the decoration between the corrugated cream.

Cream roses are made from a 5mm wide strip of paper. Bend the strip at an angle of 45° towards you. Twist the strip. Next, fold the paper 45° away from you, twist the rose, fold it again, and so on until the end of the strip. At the end, drop a drop of glue in the middle and hold until all layers of the rose stick to each other.

Glue roses on the corners.
