Snowflake from ribbons in the technique of kanzashi. Brilliant and delicate kanzashi snowflake for a bandage or hairpin with your own hands

halloween

The New Year is not only a Christmas tree, Santa Claus, sweet gifts ... All mothers prepare especially carefully for the New Year, choosing outfits and accessories for their children for matinees and Christmas trees. If you have already chosen an elegant dress, but you don’t have accessories for it yet, then I suggest you see how easy it is to make a snowflake from ribbons using the kanzashi technique. , bezel or brooch. And most importantly, such decoration can be made in any color that will be in harmony with the chosen outfit. And also making your own jewelry will be much cheaper than buying it in a store. And you can’t buy such accessories in a regular store.

Carved snowflake from satin ribbons

To create a snowflake, you will need the following consumables:

  1. Rhinestones,
  2. Middle stud/cabochon earring,
  3. Tools: tweezers, torch/lighter, heat gun.

Let's start creating thin sharp kanzashi petals, which we will turn into curls. We use a piece of satin ribbon 5x5 cm, fold it into a triangle and bend it again into a triangle. We turn it into a sharp petal and clamp it with tweezers at the very edge.

We cut off the excess. We melt the place of the cut over the fire and while it is still hot, we turn the tape into a tube with tweezers. We hold a little so that the petal has time to curl. If the first time did not work out, you can again heat the cut on the tape and wrap it again.

One branch will require curls turned left and right. And also make one and two slightly tilted to the left and right. Such details can be made by heating the edge of the petal and slightly bending it with your fingers in the right direction. Let's start assembling the branch. Glue the two parts, tilted to the left and right.

Glue a straight petal between them, and place glued curls to the left and right of it. Such branches will need 5 pieces. Let's get some more details ready. From segments of a satin ribbon 2.5x2.5 cm we will make sharp petals and glue them in three pieces. You will need 10 of these petals.

Let's start creating a kanzashi flower, which will become the basis of our snowflake. From a solid satin ribbon 5 cm wide, we will make a triangle, bend the remaining ribbon back.

Insert a piece of brocade 5x5 cm and bend both ribbons so that the top of the triangle is above the bend.

Bend the corners inward on both sides. Fold the petal, cut the ribbon and melt the edges. We make 5 petals.

Glue a blank of triple sharp petals into the resulting petal. We glue all the details into a flower, and glue triple branches between the petals. Glue branches of sharp thin petals under them.

Glue another blue decorative element and glue them between the white twigs. I note that the blue parts should be slightly higher than the white ones.

We glue rhinestones and the middle on the snowflake. As a base, I used a felt snowflake bought in a store. Before gluing the base, we will make two cuts on it so that the decoration can be put on a headband or hairpin.

Kanzashi snowflake on a universal basis

This snowflake is also in kanzashi style, but different from the previous one. It is easier to assemble and takes less time to create.

  1. Consumables:
  2. Ribbons: brocade (silver), satin (white, blue, gray) 5 cm wide and brocade (silver) 10 mm,
  3. Middle: rhinestone, cabochon or stud earring,
  4. headband,
  5. Tools: soldering iron (optional), tweezers, heat gun…

Let's assemble a multilayer kanzashi petal. Overlay the white triangle with gray and move it to the right, overlay it with blue and move it to the left, and place the brocade triangle in the center. Let's put a sharp petal.

Glue a flower from 6 petals. Prepare sharp petals of white, gray and blue.

We glue the branch, glue the blue one on the white part so that it is a little higher, on the blue one we also glue the gray one a little higher than the previous one. Cut off the base and process over the fire. Glue these blanks between the petals of the main flower. From the brocade we will make thin, sharp, straight petals, as well as curved ones: some to the left, others to the right. For 1 branch You will need 4 bent parts and 1 straight. Branches only 6 pieces.

From thin blanks we will make branches. Glue them between the white and blue sharp petals.

Let's take care of the base to close the unsightly parts of our snowflake, we will make leaves from blue satin and narrow brocade ribbon. Take a piece of blue color 5x10 cm, put a brocade ribbon on the front side, fold it in half and cut it with a soldering iron or a burner. You can do without them: clamp the ribbons with tweezers, cut and melt the cut with fire.

We glue the leaves to the base of the snowflake in two rows of 5 or 6 petals. I note that the leaves serve as a decor for the back of the jewelry, so they should not be very visible from the front. We cut out a circle from felt, cut holes in it for a headband or hairpins. My snowflake, made of satin and brocade ribbon, is ready.

Simple snowflake for Christmas

A very simple, but no less beautiful snowflake that you can make with your own hands. We will need the same materials for its creation as in the previous master classes. It is based on sharp kanzashi petals.

Let's fold the four-layer petal in the following order: silver-white-silver-white. Glue the petals into a flower.

From brocade 5 cm wide, fold the sharp petals and melt the base so that they are not through. For a snowflake ray, glue 5 such parts.

In total, 6 rays of 5 petals are required, which means you need to make 30 blanks. Each beam is glued into the gap between the petals of the flower.

It remains to glue the middle and the base of felt.

And also a do-it-yourself snowflake made of satin ribbons will be relevant. In this material, we will tell you how to make a snowflake from a satin ribbon, it's not at all difficult.
We will prepare materials for work:
satin ribbon, the width of which is 2.5 cm;
scissors;
ruler;
lighter;
tweezers;
glue gun;
rhinestones.
1. A simple snowflake made of satin ribbons is made from strips 6 cm long, 18 pieces should be made of such blanks.

2. We fold a piece of tape, bending its sides to the center.

3. Then we bend the workpiece in half, cutting off its lower part. After that, the cut edge can be singeed with a lighter.

4. We intercept our workpiece with tweezers and cut it off at a different angle.

5. In this part, the cut turned out to be double, each part of it needs to be singeed separately.

6. This is how one part of our future snowflake should look like.

7. By the same principle, we make 17 more blanks from the tape.

8. And now you can start assembling the snowflake. Let's start with its core, for this we use a glue gun to connect 6 elements.

9. Next, we will attach the rays of the snowflake. To do this, we apply hot glue to a new element, after which we glue it under one of the core modules.

10. So we continue to form our snowflake, adding two new elements to each ray.

11. In the center we fix a large rhinestone.

12. We also decorate the tips of the rays with small rhinestones. Our satin ribbon snowflake is ready.

It can become the main part of the hair ornament if you fix a circle of felt and an elastic band on the back side of it with glue.
Now you know how to make simple, but very beautiful New Year's snowflakes from satin ribbons.

The New Year holidays are coming, and if you have come to this page, it means that you want to come up with something new and original to decorate your interior and you are looking for some special idea for a festive decor.

As a rule, homemade Christmas decorations mean Christmas tree balls, garlands or unusual toys made from improvised materials. But snowflakes are also a traditional element of decorating the New Year's interior, but we just need some special snowflake ...

If you decide to make decorative snowflakes with your own hands, you probably want such decorations not to look too simple and banal. An excellent option in this case would be to create snowflakes using the kanzashi technique.

The peculiarity of such snowflakes is that satin ribbons are used for their manufacture, due to which you do not have to redo such decorations every year, and you can easily make snowflakes from ribbons with your own hands using the Japanese kanzashi technique yourself.

Raw Materials

How to make a kanzashi snowflake and what materials do you need to stock up on? In order to create New Year's kanzashi snowflakes, you will need light-colored fabric, as strong and light as possible. As a rule, such snowflakes are made from satin ribbons.

In the process of making such snowflakes, you will need the following materials:

  • satin ribbons (or other similar fabric, such as satin, silk, organza);
  • cardboard or thick paper;
  • scissors (it is advisable to use small scissors, as it is more convenient to cut small details with their help);
  • thread and needle;
  • glue (note that it must be waterproof and transparent);
  • pencil;
  • ruler;
  • tweezers or clip;
  • lighter (if there is no lighter, you can use regular matches, but a lighter is more convenient);
  • beads or beads to decorate a snowflake.

It is advisable to prepare all the necessary materials in advance, since the process of creating a snowflake from satin ribbons requires perseverance and accuracy, so that you will not be able to constantly be distracted by the search for the necessary items.

You can decorate the Christmas tree not only with ready-made toys: - figurines, stars, balls, little men made of felt will look original and cute and will serve you well when decorating the Christmas tree with your own hands.

How to make a Christmas tree toy with your own hands? Find out at. From improvised materials, you will create toys of different sizes - both large and small, with which you can decorate the house or hang them on the Christmas tree.

Let's start creating

The process of creating a do-it-yourself kanzashi snowflake at first glance does not seem so simple. But in fact, there is nothing complicated in it: you just have to follow the instructions - and you will get an excellent result, no different from snowflakes made by experienced craftsmen. We present you a kanzashi snowflake master class, consisting of several stages.

At the first stage, you need to take the prepared fabric and cut out a few small squares. The size of these squares will depend on how big you want the snowflake to be. Standard parameters are 3 by 3 cm. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the process of making standard shaped snowflakes, but that doesn't mean you can't experiment. The number of cut squares should be determined based on the shape of your future snowflake, in our case, you need to cut 42 such blanks.

Photo of kanzashi snowflakes

With cut out squares we will make small petals. Small squares are folded diagonally: this procedure is repeated three times, and in the end you should get a triangle consisting of several layers. The two outer corners of such a triangle must be folded to the center so that your triangle has a rounded shape.

To make folding such figures more convenient, hold the fabric with tweezers or a clip.

After the triangle is complicated, it is necessary to fix the corners. For this, the edges of the future petal must be melted and squeezed together until the fabric cools down. As a result, you will get a finished petal.

These are the petals that form the basis of a snowflake

This procedure must be repeated with 11 squares. The resulting petals will be placed on the inside of your future snowflake.

As for external elements, they are created in a similar way. After carrying out the procedures described by us, you should still have 30 more squares, which must be folded in the same way, but omit the stage of giving the triangles a rounded shape. That is, you will melt triangles with sharp corners.

The next stage is creating the center of a kanzashi snowflake. Take a needle and thread and thread it through the six petals with rounded shapes. At the end, fasten the thread so that these petals form a round flower.

Using the kanzashi technique, you can make not only snowflakes, but also twigs, flowers

To form the rays of the future snowflake emanating from its central part, you will need glue. Take two sharp triangles - and glue them together. If you don't have glue or you're worried about it leaving marks on the fabric, this procedure can be done with a needle and thread. Connect 12 more triangular petals in the same way.

Petals need to be glued not completely, you need to connect only one of the corners.

When the double petals are ready, glue (or sew) the third petal between the two adjacent ones. As a result, you will get an element consisting of three interconnected petals. In the same way, attach the petals to 12 more ready-made elements.

As a result, you got 12 parts, consisting of three petals. Now you need to connect them in pairs: sew one element over the other and repeat this procedure for the remaining ten figures. You can make the rays longer or give them a non-standard shape: it all depends on your imagination.

The next stage is creating the base for the snowflake. To do this, you need to take a thick cardboard (or paper) and cut a small circle out of it. This circle should be slightly smaller than the center flower for your snowflake. Then take the fabric - and cut out a circle from it, the diameter of which coincides with the central flower.

It is not necessary to use these materials: you can choose any fabric and any dense material for fastening, since these elements will be located on the back of the snowflake.

Also, think about how big lace, which will hang your snowflake. Measure out the length you need to hang your snowflake. As a rule, this is done in the form of a loop.

New Year's kanzashi snowflakes will make your Christmas tree irresistible

Put the cardboard circle inside the fabric circle, and then gather it with a thread so that after tightening you get a small bag with a solid base. It is necessary to sew two edges of the lace to it to get snowflake pendant.

Then proceed to assembling kanzashi snowflakes: for this it is necessary to glue its central part and the prepared rays.

You need to glue the rays on the wrong side of the snowflake, so first turn it over to the other side.

After the glue has dried, glue or sew on the same side the prepared part with the loop. As you can see, the process of making these snowflakes is not complicated at all, and even small children will like this procedure, so do not forget to invite them to participate in this process. The resulting snowflake can be decorate using beads, beads or sequins.

By the way, Anastasia Kulikova’s video on creating kanzashi snowflakes will allow you to more clearly study the technology for manufacturing parts and assembling them:

Methods and applications

And now we will reveal to you a little secret: in fact, with the help of these snowflakes it is not necessary to decorate the Christmas tree. There are a large number of options for the use of these original decorations.

The most standard way is room decoration. In addition to the Christmas tree, windows, walls, and ceilings will be an ideal place for kanzashi snowflakes. Attach them to threads or shoelaces - and hang a few snowflakes close to each other. You will get a great winter composition.

Such a snowflake made of ribbons will be a worthy decoration even for a bride.

In addition, from snowflakes you can make beautiful garland. And if you attach a magnet to the back wall of the snowflakes, you can attach them to the refrigerator or give them to your guests as a souvenir.

Kanzashi-style ribbon snowflakes would be lovely hair decoration: just attach them to a hoop, elastic band or hairpin. Your children will love these decorations if you collect them for the New Year's holiday.

For compositions using the kanzashi technique, use contrasting colors of ribbons

By the way, in order for your snowflakes to harmonize with the interior or clothes, you can use fabric of various colors. For example, combine a fabric of white and blue, white and purple, or white and blue. Snowflake elements can be made multi-layered: due to the layers of different colors, your snowflake will look even more original.

We hope these snowflakes will be a great addition to your Christmas decorations. And so that you do not miss the important details of their creation, we offer you a MK (master class) on the kanzashi technique and creating unusual and original snowflakes from Anastasia Kulikova with your own hands:

To make elegant New Year's snowflakes from satin ribbons with your own hands using the kanzashi technique (the same as in the final photo), you need to create 3 types of petals from a white satin ribbon and silver brocade. The diameter of such products will be approximately 12 cm. With such snow-white flowers, you can decorate hair ties (this is demonstrated in the master class), as well as make New Year's kanzashi Christmas tree decorations, an addition to a ball gown for a matinee or crown a hoop (which is very convenient if you girls short hair).

Get the following crafting materials and tools from the chest (based on a couple of snowflakes):

White satin ribbon: 0.5 cm - 48 strips of 8 cm; 2.5 cm - 12 strips of 10 cm; 5 cm - 10 squares with a side of 5 cm;

Sparkling silver brocade 0.5 cm - 16 pieces of 8 cm;

Felt: for attaching the petals-rays of a snowflake, and if you plan to create a hair accessory, then also for attaching and the base of the hairpin;

Festive accessories in the form of sparkling rhinestones 0.4 cm, a hugger and a large half-bead to it;

2 white rubber bands (if your plans include the creation of just such a product);

Scissors, lighter, glue gun, soldering iron.

Snowflakes kanzashi mk:

  1. A thin white satin ribbon and a brocade of the same width will be used to create the same eyelets. Cut 48 satin stripes and 16 brocade stripes. The length of all strips is 8 cm. Bend each strip into a loop, overlapping the ends of the tape. Fix with glue or singe only the tips.

  1. Turn the second portion of the white satin ribbon 2.5 cm wide into sharp rays. To do this, cut 12 strips of 10 cm. Bend each strip to get a double rectangle 2.5 cm by 5 cm. Draw a diagonal in each rectangle with a hot soldering iron. This trick will allow you to melt and separate the blanks into 2 identical pointed parts. At the point of contact with hot metal, parts of the parts will stick together.

  1. Open the cut halves of the former rectangle. One of them will look like a sepal, the second - like a quadrangle. Glue a half-bead to the sharp end of each piece. All kinds of leaves-rays will be needed for decoration.

  1. Cut out a small circle from the felt and glue the first layer of loops (of 8 pieces) at the very edge.

  1. Add a second same layer, but move it relative to the bottom one.

  1. And glue another tier of 8 loops. Thus, for one snowflake you will spend exactly half (24 pieces) of the prepared white loops.

  1. Next, glue the silver layer - it will differ from the previous three only in color.

  1. At the back, glue 6 sharp parts with rhinestones, obtained by burning from a 2.5 cm satin ribbon, around the circumference. The first layer is ordinary quadrangles.

  1. Attach the second layer of sepal halves as well.

  1. For the central part, you need to prepare a small flower from special sharp petals.

  1. Cut out squares with a side of 5 cm. Fold the satin diagonally.

  1. Bend again and close the corners in the resulting triangle to form a sharp kanzashi petal.

  1. Cut the petal a little and turn it inside out by pressing your finger from the bottom up. Sharp petals should be convex.

  1. Prepare 5 identical turned-out petals, a hugger and a half-bead.

  1. Glue the flower with a shiny center.

  1. Glue the snowflake to the center.

  1. Make a felt mount for rubber bands.

  1. Glue the rubber bands on the back by dropping glue and pressing down.

Elegant snowflakes are ready. Two identical parts can even be glued back to back to get a symmetrical product for decorating a Christmas tree or interior. You can repeat the same New Year's kanzashi on a blue ribbon, gently organza, satin, silk. Or use more sparkling rhinestones and brocade, because there is never a lot of silver when it comes to snowflakes. Be sure to experiment.

Preparing for the New Year holidays is always exciting: you need to buy gifts, decorate the room. A very original version is a kanzashi snowflake. It is easy to make and looks like a fabulous souvenir. Such a product can transform the interior or use as a gift, addition to it.

Christmas snowflake-kanzashi

As you can see from the photos presented in the article, these products look very beautiful and impressive. For their manufacture, only fabric is needed. Due to the volume of the design, the play of light and shadow in the kanzashi elements, the snowflake looks so beautiful. All parts are securely fastened, so you do not have to redo the decor every year, as is the case with paper decorations, which are torn and quickly become unusable. Another advantage of such crafts is ease of manufacture, because making them is no more difficult than paper ones. You can decorate a window, a Christmas tree, a New Year's costume, and even make a garland with decor from satin ribbons.

What will be required

The kanzashi snowflake needs to be done neatly and consistently, so it's best to find everything you need beforehand. During work, do not be distracted by the search for missing materials. So, prepare the following:

  • Satin ribbons of different widths (from 5 mm for decorating the frame to 5 cm for making large items).
  • Fabric of suitable quality, color and texture (nylon, organza).
  • Scissors.
  • Lighter, candle, matches.
  • Tweezers-clamp (for ease of use).
  • Needle with thread.
  • Thermal gun.
  • Cardboard.
  • Wire.
  • Decor (beads, beads, sequins, for example in the form of snowflakes).
  • Braid or for making pendants (optional).

The list is up to the mark. In the minimum set, you can get by with ribbons, scissors, a lighter and tweezers.

How to fold a single petal

How is a kanzashi snowflake made? The master class will teach you how to assemble simple blanks to create it.

Work like this:

  1. Cut the ribbon or other prepared fabric into squares.
  2. Treat the cuts over a candle flame or lighter.
  3. Fold the square in half and then in half again. You can glue the layers with a thermal gun, sew them together with threads, or heat the joint over the lighter and squeeze it properly with tweezers so that the parts fuse.
  4. Trim the bottom corner of the resulting workpiece so that it takes on the form of a petal that looks like a ring.
  5. Having completed many of these details, you can make elements of rays for snowflakes and centers from the required number of parts.

How to make a double petal

To make beautiful ones below), you will need to make double petals.

The technology is like this:

  1. As for singles, cut the ribbons into squares. It is possible to make a double element both from the same and from blanks of different sizes. In the first case, you will have to cut the bottom of the petal additionally. It is better to choose different colors and even textures. This will be more effective.
  2. Fold both squares individually into triangles.
  3. Repeat the previous step one more time.
  4. Superimpose one triangle on another (smaller to larger).
  5. Perform the third addition of both blanks together.
  6. Connect, like a single piece, with a lighter, thread or hot glue.

Kansashi snowflake: master class

If you have mastered the method of making simple elements (single or double), you can start creating a beautiful winter decor. To make the same beautiful kanzashi snowflakes (photo below), you just need to combine the manufactured parts in different versions.

To form the centers of snowflakes, you can make an element consisting of larger double petals with smaller single or the same double blanks glued into the middle. In addition, you can decorate the middle of each petal by inserting and securing a drop-shaped pearl bead. It is easy to create a huge number of options. It all depends on your imagination, perseverance and desire.

The assembly of the snowflake is carried out in two ways:

  1. Without frame.
  2. On a wire and cardboard basis.

The second method is suitable for large products with long rays.

Small snowflakes can be made by the first method. In the version without a frame, the snowflake is simply assembled by gluing the elements together. First, blanks from several petals are assembled, and then large parts are assembled together.

Assembling a snowflake on a frame

If you decide to work with the framework, the sequence will be as follows:

  1. When the required number of petals is ready, cut out a circle from cardboard according to the diameter of the snowflake's turnover to close the joints of the parts. The same circle, only of a larger diameter, is made of fabric.
  2. Put the cardboard blank on the fabric and pull the edges of the fabric along the inner contour of the cardboard circle.
  3. Cut the blanks for the rays from the wire (3 large and the same number of small ones). The size is equal to the diameter of the snowflake (after the wire can be cut in half).
  4. Wrap the wire in corrugated paper (or replace it with tissue paper). Coat with glue.
  5. Glue narrow satin ribbons of a suitable color to the wires (they will be on the back).
  6. Cut the pieces of rays into two parts.
  7. Start assembling. Collect the middle of the snowflake, for example, from 6 petals. Glue the blank to a round cardboard and fabric base.
    Glue the prepared parts of the rays to the frame wire.
  8. Glue all the rays to the circle on the back of the snowflake. This can be finished, but if a neater back side is required, make a second circle of fabric and glue it with the top layer. It is easy to attach a magnet to it. The circle can also be with a cardboard base inside.
  9. Finish the front side: decorate with beads, if desired, treat the corners of each element with glitter gel.

Thus, a kanzashi snowflake is a beautiful decor that is easy to make, and there are many options for its use.
