Crafts from foam snowflakes. DIY foam snowflakes

Other celebrations

And I will show you an interesting and unusual master class with a photo - how to make a snowflake from foam with your own hands.

What we need to work:

- Styrofoam;
- A template for our future snowflake (you can choose any to your taste);
- Scissors;
- Pen or marker for transferring the pattern to the foam;
- Construction knife;
- PVA glue (it does not corrode the foam);
- Coarse salt for decoration.

1. First, prepare the foam. We cut off all the bumps from it to make a flat surface.

2. Cut off the excess parts of the foam, making the surface even.

6. We begin to cut the snowflake from its rays.

7. Step by step, we free the snowflake from excess foam.

8. Cut out the inner pattern without pressure. The main thing is not to cut off the excess, because then we will not be able to fix anything. We carry the knife without haste. It is better to start removing the foam from small pieces.

9. Let's move on to the contours of our snowflake. We give a more convex look.

10. Remove all sharp corners. Make all edges more rounded. Now it remains for us to remove all the small excesses and roughness.

11. This snowflake is ready to decorate. We apply PVA glue on one side without sparing.

12. And immediately generously sprinkle the surface with coarse salt until the glue has had time to dry.

13. We are waiting for the glue to dry. The main thing is not to rush and let the grains of salt stick well. Turn the snowflake over to the other side and repeat the glue spreading process again. Sprinkling the other side with salt, wait again until completely dry.

14. Salt can be applied in several layers for a greater effect of ice. Everything depends on your desire. I smeared the top layer again with glue and sprinkled with sparkles for beauty. You can decorate your work with sequins or beads.

15. This is the original snowflake after 30 minutes of hard work.

New Year is the most long-awaited holiday, on the eve of which the house is transformed beyond recognition. They put a Christmas tree in the center of the room, decorate it with toys and other tinsel, and glue paper snowflakes on the windows. It is thanks to the snowflakes carved together with the children that the holiday becomes so joyful, and the atmosphere in the house is warm and cozy.

It is thanks to the snowflakes carved with the children that the holiday becomes so joyful.

There is nothing easier than cutting a snowflake, but nevertheless, this must be done according to certain rules. The most important thing is to fold the paper properly. It directly depends on what form it will have.

Four-sided snowflake: how to fold paper

This paper folding scheme is well known to everyone since childhood. The result is simple but beautiful Christmas decorations:

  1. The paper square is folded in half four times.
  2. Fold the sheet again, but now diagonally.
  3. Draw patterns on the resulting design and cut them out.
  4. Unfold paper.

This paper folding scheme is well known to everyone since childhood.

How to fold paper for a six-pointed snowflake: step by step instructions

Unusual paper crafts can be made by folding it as follows:

  1. From an A4 sheet, cut off the excess part to make a square.
  2. Fold the paper diagonally.
  3. Once again, the workpiece is bent according to the same principle.
  4. The widest part of the resulting triangle is divided into three parts with a pencil.
  5. One corner is folded in such a way that its edge ends just at the level of the mark. It will be below the base, but always exactly the floor mark.
  6. Also fold the second part.
  7. Cut off uneven ends.

  • scotch;
  • scissors;

Manufacturing step by step:

  1. Prepare six identical paper squares.
  2. Each sheet is folded diagonally and three cuts are made on it on each side, but so that they do not touch.
  3. Open the sheets and begin to connect the near edges together into a tube, starting from the center. Fix them in this position with tape.
  4. In the same way, connect the following strips, turn over and combine the third row.
  5. All six parts are prepared according to this principle.
  6. All six received parts are connected to each other with a stapler both on the sides and in the center.

Styrofoam snowflakes

A large, original snowflake can even be made from foam. To do this, just look through all the sketches, select the one you like and you can start working, during which you will need:

  • Styrofoam;
  • ball pen;
  • scissors;
  • knife (construction);
  • layout or template;
  • glue;
  • coarse salt.

A large, original snowflake can even be made from foam

Having prepared everything you need, you can get to work:

  1. All irregularities are cut off from the foam so that the contour is perfectly even.
  2. They take a stencil and circle it on the foam itself.
  3. Next is cutting along the contour of the picture.
  4. The internal parts are cut out as accurately as possible, without any effort, the knife is driven smoothly, without hurrying.
  5. The contours are given a more convex appearance, the edges are rounded, roughness and other excesses are removed.
  6. Glue is applied to one side and sprinkled with salt.
  7. Give the glue time to dry, after which the foam is turned over and the same procedure is done, on the other hand.

To make snowballs more realistic, salt should be applied in several layers. Additionally, you can decorate the top with beads or other decorative elements.

Beautiful schemes of snowflakes from napkins

Paper napkins are an ideal material for making snowflakes, the main thing is to learn how to fold them correctly. This is perhaps the easiest of all crafts. Their production takes place in several stages:

  1. I fold the napkin diagonally, resulting in a triangle.
  2. This geometric figure is once again bent in half.
  3. The right corner of the resulting figure is bent to the left, about a third.
  4. The left corner is bent to the right and covers the other corner.
  5. The upper part is cut straight or in a semicircle if you want to make a round snowflake.
  6. Cut out a pattern from the resulting shape and unfold the napkin.

There are over 100 snowflake patterns and templates, but in order to create a truly unique snowflake, it is not at all necessary to take a laptop or a special book and look for the necessary sketch. Such schemes are needed only if you want to cut out something specific, for example, Elbeix heroes or a ballerina on your craft.

How to glue snowflakes on windows

Beautiful openwork snowflakes should certainly show off in the most visible place - on the window. But at the same time, care must be taken to ensure that these decorative elements hold tightly, and after the holidays it was not difficult to remove them. In this case, it is necessary to take into account what material they are made of.

If thick paper or colored cardboard was used in the manufacturing process, then it is better to glue such products with laundry soap. Just take a bar of soap, turn the snowflakes, a brush and a glass of water, turn the snowflakes to the wrong side and smear, immediately attach to the window.

Beautiful openwork snowflakes should certainly show off in the most visible place - on the window.

Crafts made from napkins are even easier to attach to glass. They simply fill the spray bottle with water and spray snowflakes from it. They should be completely wet, but not excessively so that droplets do not run from them. After that, they are simply applied to the glass and held for a few seconds. In this case, the decor elements can be fixed on the surface absolutely free of charge, and the glass will then be very easy to wash.

Other types of snowflakes, for which foam or fabric were chosen, are a little more difficult to fix on glass. To do this, you can use both ordinary PVA glue and paste. To prepare it, you need to mix water with flour, bring the mixture to a boil and then cool. With the resulting mass, you need to coat the snowflakes and fix them in the desired position.

You can also use boiled potatoes in their skins. It is simply cut and smeared with each snowflake before gluing.

How to make a fluffy snowflake

What kind of snowflakes do not make real needlewomen. They can be both ordinary and made in the shape of a heart, be voluminous or fluffy. Fluffy, colorful decorations look incredibly beautiful near the festive tree.

In order to make them yourself, you need to arm yourself with the following tools and materials:

  • colored paper in three colors;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • pencil;
  • ruler.

The creative process is carried out in several stages:

  1. Take three sheets of colored paper and cut out squares. The sides of the first should be 12 cm, the second - 10 cm, and the third 8 cm.
  2. All squares are folded according to the same principle, ironing each fold. Initially, they are simply bent diagonally.
  3. The resulting figure is also folded in half.
  4. After that, make a couple more folds.
  5. The widest of the sides is cut obliquely, after which it is turned towards itself with a cut and begin to make numerous cuts with scissors. Literally a couple of millimeters do not reach the fold point.
  6. Thus, cuts are made throughout the triangle and the workpiece is unfolded.
  7. The same is then done with the other two sheets of paper.
  8. Layers are glued to one another.

A circle or heart cut out of paper is glued into the middle.

Patterns for snowflakes

Paper snowflakes are cut out according to various sketches, or completely arbitrarily, but in the case of fabric products, you simply cannot do without patterns. There are a huge number of their variations, each is special and unique. In order to sew original snowflakes from felt, you will need:

  • felt of two colors;
  • pen;
  • ruler;
  • cotton threads;
  • sample.

Just a few steps and the snowflake is ready:

  1. Using a pattern, transfer the pattern to the fabric and cut it out.
  2. Separately cut out a strip for a future loop.
  3. Sew all the details, be sure to stitch the loop so that it holds tight.
  4. Cut off excess threads.
  5. Felt is cut along the contour.

Using patterns, you can make snowflakes for pillowcases, potholders, and even for a baby mobile in a crib. Fabric products can be simple, single-layer, but often they are made voluminous or multi-layered, decorated with beads, ribbons and rhinestones. At the same time, the New Year's atmosphere will completely absorb, there will be a pleasant feeling of a holiday of family happiness.

To decorate a house for the holidays, snowflakes can be made from a variety of materials: paper, cardboard, foam, silicone ... And it's not at all difficult.

The snowflake is an integral symbol of winter. On New Year's holidays, you want to decorate your home somehow in a special way. So why not hang (attach) beautiful snowflakes on the ceiling, chandelier or window? It is not difficult to make them, and you can use any material you like. Thick cardboard, foam or silicone glue will do. Learn the secrets of making snowflakes from these materials from this article.

From cardboard

For work you will need:

  • pieces of foam;
  • thick white cardboard;
  • scissors;
  • pencil;
  • PVA glue;
  • silver tinsel.

First, take a large sheet of white cardboard and draw a snowflake on it. An example is shown in the photo.

Cut out two identical parts and glue them together. This is necessary so that the craft is denser and holds its shape well.

We smear the surface with PVA glue and glue silver tinsel and foam balls on it.

Gorgeous snowflake is ready!

Openwork paper snowflake

For such crafts you need to take:

  • white sheets of paper (can be from an album for drawing);
  • scissors;
  • stapler.

First, the paper should be cut into squares. Each square is folded into a triangle twice. Before reaching the middle fold, we make several cuts along the edge with scissors. Then we will completely open the square, after which we can begin to connect the ends in pairs, alternating sides. It turns out one segment. You need to form 4 more of these and connect them with a stapler into one large snowflake.

Styrofoam

If you take a thin sheet of foam and arm yourself with a clerical knife, then in just a few minutes you can make voluminous white snowflakes.

Only 10 seconds, no more, and you have a ready-made foam snowflake.

The technology is not new, cheap material and fast production is what we need.

The cost of foam in stores is quite acceptable, for a couple of bucks you can buy a square meter of foam with a thickness of 5 - 6 centimeters. A lot of snowflakes will turn out from such a piece. I took styrofoam from old computer packaging. First, the foam must be cut into thin plates of 2 - 4 mm. I chose the simplest drawing for a snowflake, then you will understand why.

I printed this picture on a sheet of paper and bent a contour of nichrome wire along it. The resulting figure was attached with screws to a fireproof plate.

The whole structure needs to be fixed on weight, I just put it on a piece of foam and pressed it with a board. To cut a hole in the center of the snowflake, I made a separate contour of nichrome wire.

Now we connect the power supply to our cutting tool and set the voltage so that the wire heats up to a temperature at which the foam will not burn, but will be easily and quickly cut (melted).

Nichrome heats up very quickly, so after turning it on, you can immediately start producing foam snowflakes. We simply lower a thin sheet of foam plastic onto the figure of a snowflake made of nichrome wire, without pressure, and we get an almost finished snowflake.

To cut a hole in the center, use an additional contour of nichrome.

We cut out the central hole on weight in two passes back and forth.

Everything must be done quickly, without delay, for sure! Otherwise, defective snowflakes may occur.

In finished form, foam plastic snowflakes look pretty decent, they can decorate a Christmas tree or other household items.

Ready-made snowflakes can be painted with colored paints, just keep in mind that the foam plastic will melt from nitro and oil paints, and the foam plastic will melt from solvents, varnishes, glue "moment" and similar toxic materials. The best dye for foam plastic are water-based paints.

Attention! Styrofoam must be kept away from fire and heating devices! When decorating a Christmas tree with Styrofoam snowflakes, keep in mind the fact that modern and old electric garlands, light bulbs, can melt and even ignite Styrofoam!

Volumetric snowflakes- This is a great option for decorating your home on the eve of the New Year. In addition, this is a great craft for the development of fine motor skills in children. That is why we have prepared for you a lot of master classes and schemes that will teach you how to make "snow beauties".

Volumetric paper snowflakes

Paper is the most obvious material for carving snowflakes. Simple sheets of A4 office paper or colored paper can be turned into real winter magic. We bring to your attention a few simple master classes.

Volumetric paper snowflake - diagram

The choice of paper color is up to you - it can be classic white or blue, red or yellow products will look very attractive.

Cut 20 pieces of paper strips 20 by 1 cm. If you want to get a larger craft, you can take strips 30 by 1.5 cm. Start collecting from the center to the edges. Cross a pair of strips at a right angle, glue at the point of contact. Add 2 more on each side to the frame. Laying one under the other, weave. In order to make the design more durable, you can glue at the points of contact. The ends of those strips that are located at an angle of 90 degrees to each other must be grabbed with glue at the very end. But those lanes from which you started should remain free. As a result, you will get half of the craft. To make the second half, repeat all the same manipulations.

The final step will be the assembly of the halves into one whole - for this, glue the remaining free ends together, turn the halves in relation to each other by 45 degrees. If you also glue in the middle, then it will begin to resemble a flower.

Do-it-yourself voluminous paper snowflakes - diagrams

For manufacturing, prepare six identical paper squares, bend each diagonally. The size of the squares will determine the size of the future crafts, a length of 20-30 cm is enough to make an impressive snowflake.

Draw 3 parallel lines using a ruler and a simple pencil. The marks should be on the side of the short edges, note that the spaces between the marks should be equal. By the way, there may be more lines if you are planning to make a large craft.

Make cuts along the lines with scissors, while at the blunt top do not finish about 5 mm. Transform the cut triangle into a square again. The free corners of those figures that were formed after eruption must be fastened together, starting from the middle. You should get the same squares, only they should be small and fastened together with an uncut canvas. Fasten the corners of the squares with glue, tape or a stapler.

After your work is completed on one side, you need to turn the paper blank over to the other side and repeat all these steps. The remaining triangles in the amount of 5 pieces must be cut and fixed in the same way.

You should get 6 diamond-shaped blanks, all of them should be combined into one figure. To do this, first connect 3 blanks in the center, and then 3 more - separately. The finished two parts must be fastened in the center, however, the rest of the contact points of the fragments of the craft cannot be ignored. This will help your "machinery" keep the desired shape.

The decor will complete the handmade process - shiny stickers or sparkles will look very nice. By the way, you can use glue with glitter - in this case, the preparatory work will already be decoration. Ready to become a real decoration of the house.

Volumetric paper snowflakes - templates

Such crafts look just great, but they are made very simply, be sure to attach threads for hanging to them, because it is in the hanging state that they will look most attractive.

Pierce with a needle in the right places, also draw a needle along all the fold lines. Pull the thread through all the holes, excluding the first and last. Wrap one end of the paper over the other and fix with glue or double-sided tape. Tighten the thread by making a knot. How to make a quilling paper snowflake

If you are thinking about using a more original technique, then turn your attention to quilling. We are used to the fact that thanks to this technique, you can create magnificent paintings, but at the same time, with proper creation, you can create crafts in volume.

Prepare special quilling strips or cut them yourself, each should be 5-10 mm wide. It is most convenient to use a clerical knife, a ruler and a board for this purpose. Your products will turn out much more attractive if you use material of various pastel shades.

To twist the stripes, you can use a special quilling tool, or you can use improvised tools, such as an awl or a toothpick. Wind the strip around the tool to make a spiral. To fix the figure, take a drop of glue, this will help the spiral not to unwind.

By the same principle as the spiral, you must make the "drop" and "eye" shapes. For a drop, bend the figure on one side, and for the eye, on two. In order to make hearts, you need to bend the strip in the middle, and then twist the spirals on both sides.

Let the rays of the snowflake be asymmetrical - on the one hand, let there be more turns than on the other (their number is not fundamental, the most important thing is that the blanks turn out to be the same).

Glue the halves of the rays together, after which you can proceed to the assembly of the quilling snowflake itself. First of all, glue the rays at right angles to the spiral, then attach hearts to their lower curls and carefully unwind the spirals to the sides. Glue a drop in the center of the heart and bring the ends of the heart to a drop. Do not forget that all those places where the fragments are in contact must be glued. Do the same on all sides of the snowflake. Glue the details of the "eyes" to the end of the rays.

Your craft will shine very beautifully if you coat it with glue and sprinkle with sparkles. And you can treat it with golden or silver spray paint, and then sprinkle with the same sparkles.
