Author: Boltacheva Irina Anatolyevna, teacher of vocational training, MBU "General educational organization boarding school for orphans and children left without parental care, with disabilities in the city of Slobodsky, Kirov region"

The postcard will be a wonderful gift for New Year and Christmas; school-age children can do the work.

Target: making a postcard with your own hands.
Tasks:
- introduce the history of the appearance of the “tunnel book” technique,
- promote the formation of practical skills in making postcards,
- cultivate a kind attitude towards your loved ones and relatives.

I want to start my master class with a children's riddle:
If the forest is covered with snow,
If it smells like pies,
If the Christmas tree goes into the house,
This is a holiday? ...

New Year is white snow and the warmth of candles, colorful garlands on the Christmas tree and the smiles of friends, congratulations and gifts. What to give for the New Year? We ask this question – adults and children. Until now, no one has yet come up with a replacement for a handmade gift.
Today I present to you a New Year card using technology "paper tunnel"

The original English name for this technique is tunnel book.
tunnel- tunnel - through hole book- book
Using this technique, a three-dimensional (volumetric) postcard is created that looks like a book, and there is also a through hole in the middle that conveys the feeling of a tunnel. A combination of cutting and folding paper is used to create this card. The first paper tunnel dates back to the mid-18th century. and depicted theatrical scenes.
Name tunnel book appeared in honor of the construction of the world's first underwater tunnel (459 meters) under the River Thames in London and the connection of the banks in 1840.

So let's look at a sample. The postcard-book consists of 5 layers (2 parts of the cover and 3 book pages), which are connected using an accordion.
To make a postcard using the “Paper Tunnel” technique, we need the following materials:
White paper for book pages and accordion
Colored cardboard or any other paper (velvet, corrugated, holographic) for the cover
PVA glue, napkins for gluing
Tools: scissors, ruler, stationery knife, pencil.

Making a postcard

The first thing we need is to make blanks for the postcard, there are seven of them. This is a cardboard book cover, 3 pages measuring 10*15 cm and two accordion parts for connecting the pages and the cover measuring 10*10 cm.

Making a postcard starts with the cover. To do this, an oval is cut out on the top of the cover.

Next, we begin making the inner pages of the book. There is also an oval on 3 white blanks.

Next we need to select a drawing. Everyone can have their own. A pattern is applied inside the oval, and on the first it should be located on the right, on the second - in the middle, on the third - on the left side, so that when one pattern is superimposed on another, they do not cover each other.

You can use templates.

We cut it out so that each of the drawings is in contact with the outer part of the postcard.

When all the layers of the postcard are cut out, we put them on top of each other and check what we got.

Next we make two accordions. To do this, we cut out the parts 1 cm in length with the blunt ends of scissors, using a line template.

We fold the accordion along the ribs.

Inside the 5 folds of the accordion we apply a thin layer of PVA glue.

Let's start assembling the postcard. We glue 1 piece into each fold of the accordion, starting from the back cover. Next, the pages of the book are glued in.

We finish the work by gluing the top part of the cover.

We do the same on the second side of the postcard, and then press the glued postcard tightly.
The postcard is ready! It remains to decorate it and supplement it with your wishes.

I think that this work is not difficult, and such a card can be made with children of different ages, the only difference will be in the drawing for cutting. For a younger age, the drawing should be easier. It’s so nice to see joy in the eyes, delight, smile and gratitude when you give something from the heart to a dear person.

New Year is literally right around the corner! It's time to prepare gifts and, of course, New Year's cards. Making New Year's cards with your own hands together with your child is not only an exciting game and a wonderful educational activity, it is the best way to teach a child to invest not money, but their soul in a gift.

I would like to end the master class with this wish:

Half of the academic year
And again outside the window of the New Year.
May you be in the next half,
Will definitely take it!

Winter is the favorite time of year for all children. They happily go sledding, make snowmen and have skiing or skating races. But needlewomen find inspiration in winter. You just want to convey delightful snow-white landscapes using some interesting technique. For example, a winter landscape made in the form of a tunnel cube looks very beautiful. The technology of its manufacture is so simple that even a schoolchild can do it.

To work you need to prepare only a few materials:

  • - ruler;
  • - a simple pencil;
  • - scissors;
  • - mock knife;
  • - 4 sheets of landscape paper for drawing;
  • - a tube of PVA glue.
First, on a sheet of paper using a regular ruler and a simple pencil, you need to draw 2 squares with sides of 10 cm and an allowance of 1 cm on each side.

You need to cut out 6 pieces of this kind. It is better to immediately cut the corners and bend all sides along the allowance lines.

Next, on 4 squares, draw a ring in the very center and different winter-themed images. A great option is a snowman. Be sure to draw it so that its lower circle is in contact with the edge of the ring.

On the second square we depict a tree on the right.

On the third paper blank, the tree should be located on the left.

And on top of the fourth square we draw a cloud from the very top.

2 blanks with allowances along the edges remain without a pattern. And you also need to cut out 2 squares with a side of 10 cm. These will be the side parts of the cube.

Now, using scissors and a craft knife, we cut out our images so that they are attached to the edge of the ring.

Now let's move on to assembling all the parts. On a square with an allowance we glue 4 blanks with drawings using PVA glue, moving from top to bottom in this order: cloud, snowman, right tree and left tree.

Now we glue another side part.

All that remains is to glue the side parts, that is, those squares without allowance.
The cube is ready!

For decoration, cut out miniature snowflakes from scraps of white paper. Approximately 12-14 pieces.

Glue them in the foreground of the square where the cloud is located.

It turns out to be such a magnificent cube-tunnel with a winter-themed landscape.
  • - To make the picture more colorful, use colored double-sided paper.
  • - Snowflakes can be cut out in blue or silver.
  • - If the middle parts of the cube are made of white paper, then the sides of the cube, made of colored paper, will highlight the image better.
  • - Instead of PVA glue, you can use double-sided tape or a glue stick.

Preparation for work.

The sides of the cube are made of pastel paper or designer cardboard in a cool shade. All internal parts are made of thick white drawing, sketching or white pastel paper. The cube consists of five layers (parts). The first and last layers are cut according to the same pattern. To make the sides of the cube, cut a strip of 5 squares equal to the sides of the cube plus 1 mm to each side.

Make a crease - apply a straight groove to the folds, as shown in the diagram. Creasing is done with an embossing tool or a non-writing ballpoint pen on the back of the paper.
1. Transfer each diagram onto a sheet of tracing paper or thin paper and cut it, leaving 1 cm margins on all sides. Attach the diagrams to the paper
for cutting and cut out the inner design. According to the first scheme, make two identical parts from colored paper in a cold shade.

According to the remaining patterns, the parts are cut out of white paper.

2. Using the tip of a knife, mark the beginning and end of the fold lines on each part (they are indicated by dotted lines in the diagrams).

3. Using a ruler, cut out the parts along the outer contour.

4. Along the intended fold lines on the outside of the parts, make a ribbing - a shallow cut in the top layer of paper.

5. Bend the parts along the drawing lines. Apply glue to the underside of each piece

and glue them sequentially onto the last square of the side strip parallel to each other.

6. Glue the last piece on top of the bottom edge of the fourth
details as shown in the photo.

7. Secure the top sides of the parts by gluing a strip of thin paper. Apply glue on top.

8. Also apply glue to the first square of the side strip.
9. Fold the side strip along the scoring lines and assemble the cube by gluing its top and bottom sides. Tie the product with a transparent nylon or satin ribbon to match the sides of the cube, tie the ends of the ribbon with a bow on the top side of the cube.

Hello friends! In between the pre-New Year's chores, we managed to find time for small experiments. One of them resulted in this souvenir squirrel tunnel, which can become a stylish decoration for your interiors. Moreover, it is not at all difficult to make. They will help you make such a paper souvenir Olya Kachurovskaya and its templates.

Materials and tools:

office paper (for printing templates) and stapler;

thick paper (for example, pastel/watercolor paper), scrap paper;

breadboard or standard knife;

creasing tool;

glue "Moment Crystal".

Download templates for cutting out the details of our New Year's souvenir in the required format here:

If you use a plotter, you can scroll through the description a little before gluing.

When cutting by hand, we start traditionally - print out the templates. This can be done on regular office paper or directly on thick paper from which the tunnel parts will be cut out.

We cut out the inner layers and the base of the product. As usual, we first cut out the inner patterns, and then along the outer contour (along the ruler).

It will look better if the squirrel is cut out of paper in a contrasting color to the inner layers.

We crease the parts along the fold lines and fold them.

Glue the squirrel to the second part of the inner layer 1.

The base of the tunnel consists of 2 parts. Glue them together.

If you have large format paper (A3 or larger), then you can glue together parts of the template printed on office paper, and then cut out the base pattern using the whole template.

Glue a rectangle of paper in a contrasting color onto the inner back surface of the base. This background will highlight the internal carved layers of the composition.

Let's start assembling the tunnel.

On the inner surface of the side face we glue the valve of the internal layer 3, aligning with the fold line, as shown in the photo.

We fold all the layers, turning the flaps inside. And glue the opposite side edge.

Then we glue the front edge of the tunnel to the side flap.

We decorate our souvenir tunnel with contrasting background details made of colored or scrap paper. We give the tunnel a three-dimensional shape.

That's all! New Year's souvenir is ready! You can add it to your own holiday interior decoration or give it to someone as a gift.

By the way, did you recognize the squirrel? This forest guest moved here straight from "" - a new set of window decorations from Olya Kachurovskaya.

Using all these templates, you can create a whole festive decorative ensemble: the window composition will echo the voluminous paper souvenir. That's great!

You can dream up and come up with something else. For example, some carved elements can be decorated with New Year's gifts. Create for your pleasure! :)

In general, how do you like the idea of such souvenir tunnels? Do you want a continuation of the series?

We wish you inspiration!
