Having a good pattern, you can sew comfortable slippers with your own hands, because this is a necessary thing in any home.
We will work with existing fabrics, we will not buy anything, we will use material from unnecessary old things, as well as pieces of leather from worn-out handbags or even boot tops.
In any home there will be skirts, jackets, drape coats that you would hate to throw away, but will never wear again. Usually they are lying around in a bag somewhere in the basement. At least that's how it is for me.
Even if you've been happily wearing them for a long time, there are always good pieces there. Let's give unfashionable, but still very good things a second life.
One tip: if you have an old wool sweater lying around, you can felt it in the machine, dry it, iron it - this is an excellent material for sewing homemade slippers! Once felted, it is no longer subject to shedding.
Here are presented, by and large, three patterns for cutting and sewing soft, cozy slippers with your own hands.
There are several more options for soft slippers with knitting patterns; by following the link you will find both crocheted and knitted, as well as varieties, for example, only with crochet trim. Slippers from an appendix to an old magazine, poor quality photo, but I’m convinced that the material is still relevant.
Who doesn’t know, in Soviet times there were magazines for women called Peasant and Rabotnitsa. Frankly speaking, the name is not very good, but at one time they were loved by many. Recipes and patterns were given there. It’s a pity that there were no good color pictures, but we were glad that we had them.
Overall, the materials were very useful and the ideas inspired creativity. Since I recently came into possession of the files of this publication, I present something useful.
Using almost the same pattern, you can sew both regular flip-flops (without backs) and fully closed slippers.
The first model is more open, the second one has an original valve. Size 36-37. If a larger size is needed, then increase the pattern along the entire contour. If the leg is narrow, then increase only in length.
The simplest material will do, perhaps even one that has been collecting dust in the pantry for a long time. For the upper part you need corduroy, drape or soft leather. You can use thin fabrics: fold them in several layers and stitch them for density. It is better to make the sole from the leather of old boots or bags.
Inside the slippers you can put an insole of leather, fur, or drape.
Cutting details (1 piece each - this is for one slipper, without seam allowances, we will take it 0.5 cm):
Sewing order:
Cut out parts from the material. Process the top. Cut a slot along the inside for the leg. We either hem the inner edge or trim it with a beautiful braid or edging. You can also decorate it with fluffy fringe.
Next we work with the bottom detail. We cut out the sole separately and glue it with instant glue. Now you can connect the top and bottom parts. First, we tighten the top piece with thread along the outer edge. We do the same with the bottom part. Both parts must match the points from 1 to 10, which are written in circles.
They will look a little different - more gathers on the back of the top and the nose of the bottom. We sew them from the face.
You can make a decorative seam with leather or thick colored thread or lace. Or treat it with braid. One slipper is ready. Let's move on to the second one. Just remember that the pattern will be reversed in relation to the first one.
If you decide to decorate your slippers with original flaps, then cut out part 3. Finish the edge. You need to sew the valve along line 11-12. It is secured with ties attached to the point marked with a cross on the top part and the valve itself. The ties can be a continuation of the braid with which the edge is finished.
The following method of sewing slippers for the house was proposed at one time by the magazine Burda. True, because of the pom-poms and the sharp, upward-looking nose, they look more like little slippers. :)
The pattern is simple, first you just need to measure the length of your foot - it should match the length in the diagram. Enlarge it in a graphics editor to the desired width and print it on a printer.
The black part is the sole, and the red part is the upper.
The picture below briefly shows the operating procedure. Light green indicates the lining - the inner part, and a colored pattern - the outer part.
Increase the pattern of the sole and top to 28 centimeters.
If you like unusual, original things made with your own hands, then soft slippers will be an excellent option for replenishing your home wardrobe. You can sew home slippers from any available materials, it can be an old sheepskin coat, the tops of unnecessary boots, pieces of fur, woolen fabric, drape, leatherette, and so on.
You can sew closed, very warm slippers with your own hands. At the bottom of the page there is a file with life-size patterns that you can copy and print. There are three sizes available: 38, 39, 41. If necessary, the patterns can be reduced by several sizes and sew compact children's slippers.
If you want to make your own slipper pattern, you can take a sheet of paper and trace your foot, or you can trace the outline of regular old slippers, tracing their sole. However, you only need to outline your leg while wearing a sock, so it will be more spacious. To create your own patterns for house slippers, you can use existing patterns shown in the picture, adjusting them to fit your foot.
What material can such cozy slippers be made from? You can choose any available materials. In most cases, the lower parts of the sole are made of artificial leather, leather or split leather. The upper part of the sole is made of suede, split leather, cloth, and there is a gasket between the top and bottom layers. You can use batting and cardboard for this. However, if you wish, you can use any materials by cutting out scraps from old things. The main thing is to show your imagination and put in a little work. You can sew such slippers on a sewing machine or by hand, sewing each seam with a thick thread.

But it is equally important to choose the material for the insoles. It could be:
Between the sole and the insole for strength, place your choice of:
By adding these elements to the model, you will ensure that your slippers last longer. So, we’ve decided on the technical aspects - it’s time to add an original design idea to them.
Experienced craftswomen claim that it is better to start your own production of exclusive house shoes with felt models. This is an easy-to-grip material, and if somewhere a cut or seam is not quite straight, after the first try on the slippers will take the shape of the foot, so the flaw will not be noticeable.
Patterns designed for sewing slippers for adults from felt with your own hands are distinguished by one important feature: they do not require allowances, since the material tends to “adapt” to the shape of the foot. These models are usually sewn without a sole seal.

This master class shows the entire process of making home slippers at virtually no cost. Detailed descriptions and step-by-step photos will help you quickly figure out how to sew slippers with your own hands.
First of all, let's collect all the necessary materials. Let's take pieces of leather as a basis. You can borrow them from an old raincoat, a boot top, a bag, or you can take apart your “grandmother’s” suitcase with unnecessary things. If you have never worked with leather, read ours, they will help you avoid common mistakes.
Next, you need to decide on the material that will play the role of lining and come into contact with the leg. The best is thin felt, but if desired, you can also use a fur base, including faux fur. Let's give preference to felt - affordable, warm, wearable and harmless to health.
Remember our ancestors! They always wore felt boots - the benefits of felt for feet are clear. But, if desired, the inside can also be made of leather.
The third of the main components is threads, the choice of which should be taken seriously. It's not even about their strength. The more elastic and thinner the thread, the better the quality of the product, and the longer the slippers will last. Got this sorted out!
Let's start collecting the tools. If you do handicrafts, then you will definitely find a crochet hook and needles in your closet. You will also need a sharp hole punch to make the holes. You can, of course, find a replacement for it, but this will affect the beauty and quality of the product. Check if you have paper clips, scissors, a ballpoint pen and a bar of soap.
We cut out a pattern for the sole from paper, taking into account the size of the foot. You can use your favorite slippers as a basis, or even better, their insoles. We apply the resulting pattern to the skin and cut in 2 parts, not forgetting that the left and right legs “look” in different directions.
Next, using a previously sharpened piece of soap, we transfer the design twice onto the felt. The resulting insoles are the same size (photo 1). We put them together accordingly and trim the edges. The following photo shows a cut-out measurement for a size 40 slipper top. Size down if you are making slippers for a child or if you are a size smaller than 39.
Using this pattern, we cut out two halves from red leather, two from blue (you can change the colors for variety), and four from felt. Don’t forget to trim them along the edges, but only after you’ve arranged them by color (Figure 3 and Figure 4). Next, we secure the connected parts of the sole with clamps. We take a hole punch in our hands and with feeling, with sense, with spacing, we punch identical holes in a circle, at an equal distance of 1 centimeter (Fig. 5). We do the same with the upper halves.
The next step will be tying the blanks. As shown in photo 6, we do this using the “loop to loop” method. We simply tie the top of the slippers, but you will have to tinker a little with the sole. It will be necessary to make it thicker. To do this, at the end of the binding, we insert inside a lining cut out of linoleum, slightly smaller in size than the sole, but fitting tightly inside.
Next, using a thread and a needle, we assemble the finished parts of the slippers into a single whole. As shown in photo 7, we sew the two upper halves together. At the same stage, we will attach beautiful accessories to them so that the finished product becomes original and unique.
Now you need to sew the upper parts to the sole and admire the resulting result (Fig. 8). You're right, they are simply beautiful!
Instead of jeans, you can take any fabric, as well as other unnecessary items. For example, an old but strong coat. Use decorations to suit your taste and don't be afraid to add your own twist.
Be sure to think about what else a modern woman can choose. And don’t say that you don’t have time for hobbies, we will tell you how and where to find it!
I don’t know about you, but we haven’t installed heating yet, so we have to warm ourselves up with a heater. However, cool floors terrify my inner “yester,” so today I want to talk about how to sew slippers with my own hands for a baby.
Cute slippers will not only warm your baby's feet, but will look pretty cute. A comfortable pattern for home slippers for a child consists of several parts, which can be seen in the picture. You select the sizes of slippers to suit your child’s feet.
We cut out the base from thick cardboard or better material like drapery, then we sheathe it on several sides. We do this with all the details of the slippers to build something like a sole.
The next stage is filling our blanks, try to choose the right material that will not collect condensation from fast children's feet.
We sew ready-made parts for future slippers, the colors of which can be easily chosen according to the baby’s liking. For example, this master class focuses on slippers for boys, but just choose a different fabric and the slippers for a cute little girl are ready.
We connect the parts and begin to sew the future warmers for the child’s feet, do not forget to turn them inside out and carefully sew them from the inside.
Our slippers are almost ready, all that remains is to decorate them a little so that the baby will be happy to put them on his feet.
We make a small pattern for a cute animal and, using our imagination and golden hands, construct the face of a bear. All that remains is to sew the bears' faces onto the front edge of the finished slippers for the baby.
