Knit a round yoke with a collar collar. Openwork pullover with cowl neck

Collar - a collar that sags in the front
First way:

It is done in a circular pattern, but the neck of the product should be knitted a little wider than, for example, on a GOLF collar, i.e. it should not fit tightly to the neck.
Let the conditional number of loops around the circumference be 92 loops. (50 for the front of the collar and 42 for the back of the collar.
Having knitted half of the collar up, for example 10 cm, we will add a few loops along the front part, i.e. where there are 50 loops, we will knit 2 from every fifth loop. Now instead of 50 loops in the front part of the collar there are 60. And on the back part there are also 40 loops. We continue to knit another 10 or 12 cm up on 100 loops. Then we close all the loops in one row.

As a result of the work, the collar seems to “sag” in front.

Cowl collar, like the sweater itself, they are knitted from fine yarn. To expand the collar, having cast the required number of loops along the neck, knit 2-3 cm with a 1x1 elastic band, then switch to relief knitting (or a loose elastic band such as French, English, 3x3) with a height of 20 cm, adding 4 loops evenly every 10-12 rows . Another way to knit a collar with an extension: pick up stitches along the neckline on thin needles, for example, No. 2, gradually moving to No. 3, No. 3.5 and ending with No. 4. There is no need to add loops.

The collar is knitted in a separate fabric. Having cast 149 loops, the first 4 rows are knitted with a double elastic band, then 30 cm with a 4x3 elastic band (starting with 4 knit stitches), knitting 1 edge on both sides. After knitting another 6 rows with a double elastic band, close all the loops with a knitted seam. Sew the collar, turn it inside out and sew the top edge of the collar (13 cm) to the middle 13 cm of the back neckline (i.e. the front part of the collar remains unsewn and drapes freely on the chest).
Previously, loops were cast on around the perimeter of the neckline and 4 rows were knitted with a double elastic band; The loops are closed with a knitted seam.

The collar is an ordinary collar, knitted with an English elastic band (fang) on all needles (without disassembling 1x1) with a change in density from 4\4 to 1\1... from two halves, finished by knitting in a “pocket”. Height is approximately 30-32.

Before describing the procedure for knitting a collar, it is necessary to clarify a few details. Firstly, a collar collar can be either a separate part of the wardrobe or part of a sweater, dress and other clothing. Secondly, you can knit a collar either on circular knitting needles or simply on two knitting needles. Thirdly, this collar can be knitted lengthwise or crosswise.

Another important detail is that knitting a cowl collar can be compared to knitting elastic for socks, but only with a larger number of loops. By the way, a collar collar for a sweater and a detachable collar collar are knitted according to the same principle. So let's start knitting the collar. There are two options for this type of collar. The first option is a gradually expanding collar. It is used in cases where it is intended to be used as a headdress or to obtain voluminous folds. In other cases, it has a straight cut. We start knitting a collar collar with knitting needles by choosing the yarn and the thickness of the knitting needles. At the same time, the thicker the knitting needles, the more prominent the collar will be. Garter stitch, stockinette stitch or ribbed stitch are perfect as a pattern. Other patterns will prevent the collar from fitting smoothly around the neck. Let's move on to the set of loops. How to knit a straight collar is clear; you can knit it in the form of a regular rectangle, and then sew the sides. Another option is regular circular knitting. For us, the more interesting option is in the form of a trapezoid.

Cowl collar as a separate item of clothing

In this case, knitting begins with the widest edge, which will then cover your shoulders. The number of loops is determined according to the sample. Although you can measure the diameter of the bottom edge with a thread. Double this length and start casting on. To make the process easier, we suggest knitting the collar on circular knitting needles. After the loops are cast on, we begin knitting. We knit a circle 20-25 cm high. The exact length depends on the desired depth of the collar. Next, we begin to reduce the number of loops. We reduce the first 5-6 cm in every fourth row by eight loops. On the next 5-6 cm we decrease 8 loops in every second row. As a result, the narrow edge of the collar should be one third smaller than the wide one. After this, close off all the remaining loops. Then we align the edges of the product and crochet them.

The “collar” as a single unit with a dress or sweater

In this case, to begin with, loops are picked up along the edge of the product. By the way, in this case we will have an inverted trapezoid, which means that the canvas will expand rather than narrow. We begin adding loops already in the second row. In order for the fabric to expand evenly, add 8-10 loops at once. The increments should be spaced at equal intervals. In order for the increases to be unnoticeable, we make the increase as follows: insert the knitting needle into the weave of the threads between the loops. Then we throw the thread onto the knitting needle and pull it back in the form of a loop. In the next row we knit this loop like the rest. The first 5-6 times we add loops in every second row. Then the next 5-6 times we make increases in every sixth row. As a result, the number of loops should double. Then we knit 15-20 cm straight, without increasing the number of loops.

Having extensive experience in knitting, it turns out that you don’t always know how to knit this or that chosen neck for a sweater. But it is the neck that makes the product complete. The type of product will depend on how it is connected.

If a sweater is knitted with expensive threads and a beautiful pattern, but its neck is knitted somehow, then the thing has a very pitiful appearance.

Knitted cowl collar

There are many types of neck designs for finished products. One of them is the cowl collar, which can also be knitted in several ways. Let's take a closer look at the varieties of such a collar.

A “collar” happens:

  • large, which falls in soft folds;
  • small, close to the neck;
  • “collar” in the form of a hood.

Knitting products

To knit a collar that lags behind the neck, work must begin from the bottom edge of the collar. The shape of the knitted fabric is rectangular. To make the product soft and at the same time voluminous, it is advisable to knit it with thick knitting needles and garter stitch. In garter stitch, the errors of loose knitting are practically invisible.

For this “collar” model, not only garter stitch is used. Recently, the 2x2 elastic band has become popular; but there are 1x1 elastic and stocking stitch.

The cowl collar can come with the product or as a separate item. You can knit it both lengthwise and crosswise using two knitting needles. But if you really want to, you can use 5 knitting needles to knit it. This means that the cast-on loops are distributed onto 4 knitting needles, and the fifth knitting needle is used.

"Collar" as a separate item of clothing

It is best to start knitting such a “collar” from the bottom (wide) edge, which will cover the shoulders. To determine the number of loops, you need to knit the sample with the selected knitting. The height of the finished product can vary from 20 to 30 cm, which depends on the desired depth of the collar.

In the process of knitting the product, decreases are made so that the top of the collar is one third smaller than the bottom. The number of decreases will depend on the thickness of the thread, the knitting density and the number of loops on the knitting needles.

After all the decreases have been made and the product has reached the desired height, all loops can be closed. To give the product a finished look, it can be crocheted. After this tying, the edge of the product will become smoother.

“Clamp” as a single unit with the product

In this case, the loops for the collar are gathered along the edge of the neckline. When finished, it will have the shape of a trapezoid, only upside down. The canvas will not narrow, as in the previous case, but expand. Already in the second row you need to start adding loops. To make it even, you need to add 8-10 loops at equal intervals.

To make the addition unnoticeable, you need to do this: insert the knitting needle between the loops into the weave of the threads, throw the thread over it and pull it back in the form of a loop. In the next row you need to knit a loop like other loops.

Depending on the density of knitting and the thickness of the threads, an increase in loops occurs. It is recommended to do this in every second row 5-6 times, and then in every sixth row 5-6 times. As a result of this increase, the number of loops on the knitting needles should double. Knitting the collar continues, but without increments, to the desired length.

Model No. 1

The shape of the collar collar is trapezoidal. This is an independent product, the lower part of which covers the shoulders (this is the bottom of the trapezoid). The collar is high, to work you need to know its length in advance. By measuring the length of the product along the shoulders and knitting a 2x2 elastic pattern, you can determine the number of loops that need to be cast on for the work. The average length is 30 cm.

During the knitting process, in order to get a trapezoid, you need to make decreases. The first time will be in the 4th row, where you need to decrease 7 loops. Several times after this, you need to make decreases in every fourth row, then in every second row.

As a result, having reached a certain height, the upper edge should be narrower than the lower one by one third. If you get this result, then the remaining stitches on the knitting needles can be closed off.

To prevent the collar from stretching for a long time, you can weave an auxiliary thread while knitting, at the beginning and at the end. This is done not at the very beginning of knitting, but in the 5th row from the beginning and in the 5th row before the end of knitting.

The resulting “collar” can be sewn to the finished product if the neck coincides with the bottom of the “collar”. To do this, you need to pin the collar to the product at four points: front, back and sides. This means: in the center of the front and in the center of the back of the product. Next, using the same pins, make uniform fastenings in other places of the neckline. Having removed all the irregularities, the collar can be sewn to the product.

It’s not at all difficult to knit such a warm “collar” with your own hands. You just need to take the measurements correctly so as not to make a mistake and not to bandage the product. See how it's done.

Model No. 2

In this model, a set of loops is made from neck loops, in a circular manner. To prevent the collar from looking like a golf collar, it needs to be at some distance from the neck.

When casting on loops, you need to have more of them on the front half. The first 10 cm are knitted with the selected pattern, without adding stitches. Next you need to make increases only on the front part of the panel of the product. As an example: from every 5 loops, two loops are knitted.

Knitting continues until the product is a certain height. After this, all loops need to be closed.

The “collar” connected in this way has a slight sag in the front part, which looks very beautiful and impressive.

Another option for knitting a collar is in this video.

Scheme

Below are knitting patterns for a cowl collar. Depending on the chosen model, the diagrams will differ.

For the first model the collar is knitted like a rectangle, the height of which corresponds to the height of the collar, and the width is equal to half the circumference of the neck of the finished product. For knitting, a 1x1 elastic band is used. To keep the collar free, close the loops of the last row as loosely as possible.

In the second model The “collar” hangs beautifully, for which increases are made while knitting it. This is clearly depicted in the collar diagram. To knit the collar in this model, stocking knitting is used, the height of the finished product is 19–20 cm.

In the third model The “collar” turned out to be more spacious than in the first model, and its height is 40–45 cm, and not 32–35, as in the first case. It is knitted horizontally with an English elastic band. The fabric is knitted separately, and after the seam is completed, it is sewn to the product.

Options for knitting products with a cowl collar

These tips will be useful for beginning knitters.

  1. Before knitting a cowl collar as a separate item, you need to buy soft but warm threads.
  2. The color of the chosen threads should suit your face.
  3. Depending on the thickness of the thread, their consumption will also depend.
  4. For knitting, choose knitting needles that are suitable in thickness for your threads.
  5. Select a pattern for the “collar” and knit a sample of it. Calculate the number of loops needed for the job.
  6. To ensure that the product does not lose its original shape during wear, you need to use an auxiliary thread, which must be purchased in advance.

Conclusion

It is very easy to knit a cowl collar with your own hands. Having a clear description and diagram, the task can be completed in one day.

The lesson offered to you provides information, as well as diagrams and descriptions of various methods of knitting collars with knitting needles, using a hook or a shuttle.

We will understand how a very fashionable collar called “” is made, which is permanently sewn to a sweater or jacket. Then we’ll look at how to correctly make removable openwork collars, as well as collars with the unusual and beautiful name tatting. If the “Cowl” collar model, or similar ones, are present only in knitwear for adults, then openwork models are suitable for both adults and children. Thick and warm knitted collars, sewn to sweaters and blouses, are used exclusively for autumn and winter knitwear. They are designed to complement warm knitwear and warm the throat from wind and cold. But openwork models are made mainly from thin cotton or viscose, and are used primarily to decorate clothes. If you knit a warm collar and then decorate its edges with lace from the same threads, then you will get a model that will both warm and decorate your clothes.

There is another description for the second option for making a sagging collar with knitting needles, and it is somewhat different from the first. The difference lies in the separate circular knitting, without casting on the neck loops. In this case, it is necessary to make additions correctly and evenly, which will allow you to create just such a sagging shape of the product. For example, you can increase the quantity using this method. In the fourth row, increase six stitches, evenly distributing these additions. After this, we will complete the next eight rows without changing or adding anything. Then, when knitting the next one, add six pieces again, just as evenly as the first time. And then we perform the next eight rows again without changes or increases in quantity. This knitting order must be repeated two or even three times. The number of repetitions should depend on the width of the product you want to achieve. When the work is finished, the finished circular fabric needs to be sewn to the sweater.

Openwork collar with Chevalier knitting needles

This magnificent openwork collar model is made with knitting needles. This master class offers you its description. The required pattern diagram is also present here. For work, prepare thin knitting needles and simple cotton threads. Let's start working with an initial set of loops in the amount of one hundred and fifty-three. We knit the first three rows with a regular 1x1 elastic band, and we will continue according to the pattern that is attached here. In this diagram, the pattern repeat is highlighted in red. This rapport must be repeated fourteen or thirteen times, depending on the row. We draw your attention to the fact that in this pattern the edges are also part of the pattern. We purl the final row of elastic, and after that we turn the knitting and close all the loops using a hook. We do the closing in parts, three pieces at a time. This is with the exception of the first and last ones, which must be knitted in four pieces together. Air loops are assembled between the parts, from eight to ten pieces. When knitting teeth, air loops are also cast on, but already in three pieces. This must be done so that the product does not form waves.

Openwork collar knitted from cotton threads

Openwork collar with knitting needles

To make such a collar with knitting needles, you will need a pattern diagram, knitting needles No. 2 and No. 2.5, a thin satin ribbon, and simple cotton threads. This model is perfect for both adult fashionistas and children, or rather girls. Let's cast on nine loops on the knitting needles and knit the first row in this way. The first is an edge, then comes a purl, knit, yarn over, another knit and yarn over, then a knit and purl. The edge is knitted from two loops in garter stitch. At the same time, they will be knit in the front rows, and purl in the back rows. You need to finish this row with a knit stitch. All purl rows are performed in the same way as the previous loops, or according to the pattern. In the third row we introduce an increase, which must be done in the following way. To do this, you need to take the thread from the broach with the right knitting needle, turn it over, and then transfer it to the left knitting needle. After this, it must be knitted like a purl.

Next we work according to the pattern and knit eighteen rows. In the next one after that we close off six loops, leaving nine in the work. Now let’s start knitting the pattern again according to the pattern, from the beginning. This order must be repeated until we knit the very last leaf. Having tied it, we close everything. As a result, we only got half of the collar. The second part is also knitted according to the pattern, but in reverse order. Having finished the second half, we sew both along the edge of the first leaves, and put the entire strip on a long knitting needle. On this knitting needle we must knit seven centimeters of a mesh pattern, for which there is a diagram. Next, close everything and thread a thin satin ribbon. After this, you can try on the collar.

Openwork collar using the tatting technique

Few people know what the “Frivolite” technique is. This is a special knotted weave that is used to make a wide variety of laces, distinguished by their unique and original patterns. Very often it is combined with crochet. The main thing in it is the special “Tatting Knot”. It is similar to macrame knots, but it needs to be done differently. In this technique, unlike macrame, knots can be knitted not from two, but from one thread. For tatting, special devices called shuttles are used. They come in classic styles, combined with a hook, and with an extended top plate. The last type of shuttle combines all the good qualities of the previous two, and therefore it is the best. Weaving requires strong threads without thickening, which include iris and garus. In this video you can learn the technique of performing simple elements using a shuttle.

You can also perform this technique using a hook, a needle, or combine them together. Products obtained using this technique have many varieties. These are simply beautiful laces, lace doilies and collars that are perfect for the clothes of adults and children. Now let’s look at a master class on weaving a lace collar using the “Tatting” technique.

This tatting collar model is best woven from threads called “Crochet” (COATS AIDA No. 10). The working tools are hook No. 1, as well as two shuttles, scissors and a needle, which we will need to untie erroneously made knots. The size of this collar is forty-two (this is the circumference of the neck), and its width is about six centimeters. For needlework we use the attached diagram, reading the black numbers on it.

Let's start working with only one shuttle out of two, from zone 1 (Roman numeral in the diagram). This diagram shows fourteen pieces decorating the collar. If you increase their number, the size of the product will be larger, and vice versa. When the first part is completed, we attach the second to it (Roman numeral 2 in the diagram). This part is woven not with one, but with two shuttles. Please pay attention to the areas indicated by an arrow with an "X". To read them, you need to refer to the article entitled “Various methods of weaving tatting lace.” In addition, those parts of the work that are outside the weaving and are performed by the second shuttle are very important. So, we have looked at knitting a tatting collar, and now you can make it yourself.

History repeats itself. This statement applies to modern fashion. What was well worn and advertised in the past is also in great demand today. A cowl collar is a fashionable and popular clothing attribute. This universal product subtly emphasizes the individuality and uniqueness of the chosen image. Such collars can be purchased at the store or knitted yourself. The process of its creation has several features.

A simple DIY collar collar can be used in different interpretations. As a separate, independent knitted product. As a circular scarf. This addition can be knitted in a dense fabric or in a continuous loose knitting. A collar knitted from light silk or cotton threads serves as an excellent decoration for clothing in the warm season. In the cold season, collars made of warm yarn are more in demand and popular.

Such products are found in men's and women's wardrobes. Women prefer to wear knitted collars with beautiful dresses, sweatshirts, pullovers and sweaters.

To create a scarf, different numbers of knitting needles are used. It all depends on the type of knitting and threads used. The thicker the yarn, the clearer the shape of the product. Collars knitted on a single circular needle complement a knitted dress or sweater. It is recommended to use two knitting needles when making a long circular scarf. Working on four knitting needles is appropriate when the collar is a full-fledged part of the product. That is, its creation is the final stage in the process of making a knitted sweater.

There are not only circular, but also rectangular and trapezoidal scarf clamps. It is better for inexperienced needlewomen to start knitting collars with a diagram and description. A pattern may be needed. There are several interesting and at the same time simple options for creating a collar collar.

One simple option is a collar collar with a broken elastic band. To knit such a product, you will need to stock up on yarn of three colors: black (150 g), white (50 g), blue (50 g). You will need circular knitting needles with a fishing line length of at least 90 cm. A broken elastic band is knitted on an even number of loops. The first row must be knitted completely with purl stitches. The second knit and purl. The loops alternate one after another. The third one is knitted like the first one, etc. When knitting, colors should be used correctly. The process of creating a product consists of creating several sections.

Knitting the first section:

Knitting the second section begins with lifting the loops. This is done on the short front (black) side of the first section. New loops are added with blue yarn. Then new rows of the product are knitted one by one:

The final part of knitting a collar collar with knitting needles - diagram and description consists of connecting several sides. You will need black and white threads. The front side is raised to 223 loops. Four rows are knitted in satin stitch, closed with loops. The wrong side is knitted similarly to the front side. Only white yarn.

A circular scarf is a convenient and practical addition to winter clothing. The product protects from cold winds and severe frosts. The collar collar is knitted according to the description over several evenings. To do this, you will need knitting needles with a length of No. 8 and thick yarn (at least 200 g). The number of loops is always a multiple of six. It is better to mark the beginning of the row with a thread of a different color. The knitting pattern for a scarf with a spiral pattern is as follows:

Used in the autumn-winter period as a separate product. Knitting begins with measuring the circumference of the neck, shoulders and the height of the collar. The height of the product can be 20−30 cm. The greater the height, the deeper and more voluminous the product itself can be. Based on the dimensions obtained, the required number of loops is cast on. The scarf should freely cover not only the neck, but also the shoulders.

Knitting is done on two or four circular knitting needles. When creating a collar on two knitting needles, it is possible to make a fastener and decorate the product. On four knitting needles, a row transition is not required (for example, when the first row is completely knitted). Here is a diagram of how to knit a trapezoidal collar with knitting needles:

  • The first four rows are knitted with a pre-selected pattern. Here you can show your imagination and choose a design to suit your taste.
  • When the fourth row is completed, begin to form a trapezoid. Formation consists of decreasing loops.

You need to decrease loops as follows::

  • From every fourth row in the first part of the scarf, remove 7 loops until the middle of the height is reached.
  • On the second half of the product, 7 loops are also removed. There should be three times fewer of them than there were during the first recruitment.
  • Finally, all loops are closed.

If desired, the lower and upper edges of the product can be decorated with pom-poms, cones or a decorative border.

For knitting, you can use English rib, garter stitch, and also create products using stockinette stitch. The first row is knitted with purl stitches. Each of the presented patterns will look good with a dress or sweater. In a simple knit, the scarf has a rectangular shape. Knitted collars with patterns are connected with a clasp, button or button. Sometimes it is one continuous stitched fabric.
