Knitted children's scarf with pompoms. How to knit and crochet a snood: patterns for beginners and scarf patterns with descriptions for girls and boys

March 8

In the wardrobe of any child, both boys and girls, there are always various scarves. They are simply necessary for children because they provide reliable protection from the cold.

An ordinary scarf covers the baby's neck, perfectly complementing the high collar or raised hood of the jacket. In addition, a beautiful scarf makes a child look like an adult, stylish and elegant, which brings children a lot of joy and pleasure.

To knit a beautiful scarf, let’s make a choice, because there are many models, patterns and colors of fashionable children’s scarves. It is necessary to choose the right yarn, as well as the necessary knitting needles, which will be used for children’s handicrafts. For beginners, simple patterns such as garter stitch, tangle stitch, 1x1 rib stitch or checkerboard stitch are suitable.

This pink elegant scarf for a girl is very simple to make.
A regular chess pattern is used for knitting it, so even a novice craftswoman can make the model. Knit a children's accessory according to the pattern. The diagram, like the pattern itself, is not difficult to work with and is located here.

Knitting a soft scarf with strawberries

The attractiveness and highlight of the children's model is that it is made of unusual yarn with an uneven voluminous texture. As a result, the children's canvas visually resembles grass, and pretty red strawberries adorn it very appropriately. We recommend yarn (160 grams) of Atelimo poli type, light green shade, and knitting needles No. 7.

We cast on 18 loops (P) with knitting needles and continue knitting. The work does not require a pattern, because the fabric is knitted with garter stitch, that is, from facial loops.

The accessory is suitable for both boys and girls. Bright strawberries will delight any child. Knit red strawberries with green leaves and embroider white dots on them. At the end of the needlework, sew them in the end zones of the children's accessory.

Knitting a scarf with a loop

Another children's scarf in addition to the strawberry hat, which has a hole on one side. It is convenient for the baby precisely because it is easy to tighten it without forming a thick, uncomfortable knot on the neck.

  1. Cast on 32 stitches using size 3 knitting needles and knit 12 rows with a cross elastic. The result is two rollers, as in the photo.
  2. Then we knit twenty rows (P), and close twenty middle Ps to form a hole. This hole is necessary to thread the second end of the children's scarf into it.
  3. In the next P, the missing loops must be cast on again and knitting of an arbitrary length must be continued. At the end of the fabric we again knit the same rollers as at the beginning.

If you want to knit a colorful and fun children's scarf, then pay attention to models depicting different animals.

We knit a children's “Koto-scarf”

To knit a cheerful children's scarf, you will need three hundred grams of gray and one hundred grams of white yarn, as well as knitting needles No. 3.5.

If desired, this technique can be used as a basis to make a children's scarf of a bear, bunny or other animal. It is enough to make another face, and now the bear is ready for the child.

Scarf with voluminous braids

To make such a children's scarf with braids, we use knitting needles No. 6 to twenty-six P, and knit 4 cm with a 2x2 elastic band. The pattern for knitting braids is in the photo.

This pattern is knitted along the entire row, between the outer edge loops. You will get two complete repeats of the Braid pattern, plus two edge loops. The total length of the “Braid” pattern is one hundred thirty-six cm, after which we knit again four cm with an elastic band and close the loops.

Snood for children

Modern kids really like the now fashionable children's snood scarves, collars, and headscarves. Such children's products look especially stylish if they are knitted from thick threads with coarse knitting. Even the most primitive garter stitch allows you to create an extremely impressive children's snood, as shown here in the photo.

This model, the so-called snood collar, is knitted for children from mixed yarn, which includes wool and acrylic.

For a child from 5 to 10 years old, the size of the snood is 22 in width and 70 cm in length. The full gauge is nine stitches and 19 rows in a 10x10 cm pattern. We will need 200 grams of yarn, size 8 knitting needles, large buttons and snaps.

Warm snood collar

This original version of the scarf combines both a snood and a collar.

The diagram shows that the snood pattern consists of alternating knit loops (KL) and purl loops (IP).

As can be seen from this photo, the width of the snood is 26 cm x 2 = 52 cm.

Scarf shawl for girls

This kind of scarf, knitted with long stripes, is now at the peak of fashion and popularity, even among children and teenagers.

The stripes can be of different lengths and widths, and are connected to the scarf at the end of the work. As a rule, these strips should have fluffy pompoms or tassels at the end, as in the photo. To make lush tassels for such a scarf, you need to prepare rectangular-shaped cardboard and wind yarn on it in this sequence.

Scarf with pompoms

To conclude the lesson, we’ll look at knitting a simple but elegant scarf for a girl. We make a light scarf with stripes in garter stitch. This classic model is made from mixed yarn, which should include wool and cotton. If you purchased thick yarn, then you need to knit it with needles No. 8. The density of the fabric will be 13 loops and 16 rows in a 10x10 cm pattern.

Today we will learn how to make with our own hands such a popular, cute and very easy to make decorative element as pompon. I made pompoms to decorate a new scarf for my daughter. But made from a different yarn, a different size, it can decorate anything you want.

If you don’t need a scarf right now, immediately read below,

And yet, despite the fact that winter will soon end, I offer you today description of knitting a children's scarf with pompoms. It’s not for nothing that they say that it’s better to prepare a sleigh in the summer

I knitted this scarf to replace the previous one - with snails (see detailed description). It is knitted in the same way, but this time I made a few changes:

1) I took a different yarn (turquoise plain, 70% acrylic, 30% wool)

2) knitting needles No. 4

3) I made the scarf wider - I knitted the repeat with the braid not 3, but 4 times. By the way, it’s very convenient: in cold windy weather you can tie a scarf over a child’s nose and mouth (it’s wide enough and doesn’t slip), and in good weather it rolls up and looks narrow and neat.

4) Instead of snails at the ends of the scarf, I made one fluffy pom-pom.

5) Well, I made the length longer - after all, the child has grown.

In general, if you compare both scarves, they look completely different, although they are connected by the same pattern!

So, if the process of knitting the scarf itself is described in detail, then in this article I just have to tell you.

To make one pompom we will need:

* 2 pieces of cardboard

*pencil or pen

* scissors

* a compass and a ruler or any available round objects of the required diameter (for example, it was easier for me to find children’s toy plates and Kinder Surprise eggs in the house than a compass)

* a small ball of thread of the desired color (I took the remainder of the same yarn from which I knitted the scarf)

To correctly choose the diameter of round objects (or circles), you need to decide for yourself what the diameter of the finished pompom should be.

Important: the diameter of the finished pompom will always be less than the diameter of the large circle by approximately the same size as the diameter of the small circle!

We draw a large circle on both pieces of cardboard and find the middle (for example, by measuring the diameter with a ruler and dividing by 2 or by eye).

We draw a small circle in the center and cut it out (you can first make one piece, and then trace the second one along it).

We put both blanks together and begin to carefully wrap them with threads, pushing the ball into the central hole each time (I find this method the most convenient).

When we wrap it in one layer, we continue to carefully and evenly wrap as much as we need (this depends on how dense and fluffy the pom-pom you want to get.

The photo shows that the width of the strip that we wrapped will be the size of the pompom from the middle to the edge, i.e. the hole in the middle will shrink to one point, which is why I wrote that the finished pom-pom will be smaller than the large circle we chose.

We now need to cut the threads along the outer edge. To do this, we hold the scissors between two cardboard circles, carefully cut and hold the already cut threads.

Now you need to carefully pull the threads in the middle so that the inner hole disappears. To do this, stretch the thread between two cardboard circles and tighten the knot. For greater strength, you can wrap it a few times in a circle and tighten the knot further.

The pompom is almost ready, you just need to get rid of the cardboard circles. If the pompom turns out to be very fluffy, you can simply cut the circles and remove them. And if it works, you can simply remove the circles and then fluff the pompom evenly on both sides.

Here's a looser pom-pom:

Now the finished pom-pom can be sewn anywhere using the thread with which we tied it. I made another pompom and sewed it onto the scarf. This is what happened.

Children's scarf with knitting needles: unique photo master class

Knitting for children is a great opportunity to show their imagination and experiment with colors and types of yarn. When choosing materials for working with “adult” things, for example, for ourselves or our friends, we rarely opt for non-standard compositions of materials or bright color combinations. Not everyone is lucky enough to work with yarn for knitting children's clothes or toys, so I suggest knitting a bright, very warm and cozy children's scarf. Please your child, or give a nice gift to your friend's young mother.

Knitting a baby scarf

We knit a children's scarf using knitting needles based on a unique master class from Ekaterina Kuryleva.
To begin with, let’s choose a warm, soft “plush” yarn for knitting children’s clothes. Despite the artificial composition, it is absolutely hypoallergenic, does not irritate the skin, does not cause itching, retains heat well, and also, which is very important for children's things, is very simple and unpretentious to care for. Our
made from “Bambi” yarn from the Nazar brand, rich green color. This color is suitable for both boys and girls. The skein is 142m/50g, one is enough for us to knit a scarf for a child.
Also, we will need a tool suitable for the threads, in this case an accessory
№ 4,5.
To decorate in the shape of a strawberry, you will need yarn of any composition in red, white and green colors. These can be small balls that usually remain from knitting large items, the use of which is usually very difficult to find. I think every craftswoman understands what we’re talking about! The template will require cardboard, as well as scissors and a hook.
Our children's scarf has a clasp, so it will fit tightly around the neck and not fall off or twist. You can choose what it will be: hooks, buttons, snaps or Velcro.
The pattern in which this scarf is knitted is called “fur”. The product is not only very original, but also incredibly warm, because each eyelet provides additional volume. A diagram for this pattern is not required, just read the description carefully. We start knitting by casting on 31 stitches. To knit fabric using the fur technique, cast on an odd number of stitches. We knit the entire next row with facial loops.

We turn the fabric over and start knitting “fur” loops. We remove the edge, insert the knitting needle into the next loop behind the front wall and immediately throw the working thread onto it. Now we wrap the thread around the index and middle fingers in two turns and knit the two formed loops with the front one.

Next knit stitch (KL). Next, we continue the pattern and alternating the “fur” element and the LP until the end of the row. In the next row we knit all the LPs behind the front wall. Carefully hold the “fur” loops with your finger and knit the LP. We knit a row with purl stitches (IP). All LP again. Next comes a row of “fur”.

We continue to knit the fabric according to the principle: one row of “fur”, three rows of stockinette stitch. Knit as high as you need to completely cover the baby's neck. As a result, we will fold the fabric to create such a tight-fitting scarf. Now you need to make the clasp. Here you can sew on several buttons, hooks, or, which is even more convenient for an active baby, Velcro.

Let's decorate our scarf with a bright pompom in the shape of a strawberry. This decorative element is more suitable for a girl, but for a boy, using the same principle, you can make a pompom in the shape of a soccer ball. Many needlewomen have had to make pom-poms with their own hands more than once, but not everyone knows that there is a certain pattern, and if you follow the correct alternation of colors, you can get such an accessory. These pom-poms can be used to decorate any children's clothing: hats, mittens, sweaters. You can also make pom-poms with your children; this activity should especially captivate girls.
Let's start by cutting out two pompom templates from cardboard. And here is a diagram of winding yarn. Pass a green thread between the templates; at the end of the work we will fix its pompom. We start with red yarn. We wrap it tightly around the template in two rows.

Now we need white yarn. Make four turns around the template. Now we wrap the red thread tightly in two rows again. We make four more turns with white thread. And once again red yarn.

We wrap green yarn several times on one side of the template. Using a hook, secure the free edges of the threads. The green thread that we placed between the templates at the beginning needs to be pulled towards each other. Using scissors, cut all the threads from the top. We tie a green thread tightly into several knots.

It turns out like this pompom.

Now, using scissors, you need to “cut” the pompom so that its shape begins to resemble a strawberry.

All that remains is to sew the strawberry onto the finished product. You can make several of these strawberries and sew them along the edge.
ready for your baby!

Author: regenbogenj. Most of my products are knitted from Verona yarn from a Turkish manufacturer. She looks like this:

The label indicates the size of the knitting needles and hook No. 2. In fact, the size does not matter, since the knitted loop will stretch exactly as much as the length of the thread between the pumps allows. "Verona" has analogues from different manufacturers. A distinctive feature is the oblong pumppons. Some products (for example, handbags) are knitted from Italian Pin-Pong yarn. It looks like this:

A distinctive feature is that the pumpons are almost round, the length of the thread between them is longer than that of “Verona”.

MK on scarves made from pompoms

We will knit the simplest scarf from Verona yarn or any similar yarn.
ATTENTION! We only tie strings between the pompoms and do not touch the pompoms themselves. The size of the knitting needles is any (I prefer 3.5). There are no edge loops in this knitting, i.e. we DO NOT remove the first loop and DO NOT purl the last one.

SET OF HINGES. It's simple - we make a loop of thread and put it on a knitting needle.

There is a pompom hanging between the loops. We collect the desired quantity, I (usually) knit 5 - 6 pom-poms wide.

Next, we begin the NEXT ROW. Be careful here - the next pompom should remain on the side.

We knit a knit stitch from the thread above it and knit it to the end (all loops are knit).

NEXT, we again leave the pompom on the side (we do this at the beginning of each row! Thanks to this, we get a beautiful wavy edge) and knit with purl loops. Our knitting on the reverse side looks like this:

Then we repeat everything, knit a row of knit stitches, a row of purl stitches. Don't forget to leave a pompom on the side! And we get it like this:

If you knit the entire fabric only with facial loops, the scarf will turn out to be double-sided.

Now we calmly knit to the desired length of the scarf or ALMOST to the end of the skein and proceed to CLOSING THE LOOP. Here you need to be careful, because it’s easy to get confused if you’re not used to it. We will need a No. 4 hook or larger.

We put the free knitting needle aside; we won’t need it anymore. We take the hook, thread it through the first loop on the knitting needle, grab the thread and pull it through this loop (the next pompom, as usual, remains on the side). Remove the loop from the knitting needle.

Now we have a loop on the hook.

Next we knit a chain loop from the next thread and pull a loop from the knitting needle into it:

Then again make an air loop from the next thread and pull a loop from the knitting needle into it. So until the end. This is what the closed row looks like from the front

and the wrong side:

Cut the thread AFTER the next pompom and pull it into the last loop. That's it, our knitting will no longer unravel! To make the scarf look neater, we sew a dangling pompom to the main fabric. This will not be noticeable to the untrained eye. We do the same at the beginning of knitting.

MK on a hat made of pompom yarn

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that hats made from this yarn are quite voluminous. For those who want to knit with Bob yarn (Adelia): you should not knit with this yarn. The pompoms are very large and instead of a charming woman's/child's head you will end up with just a dandelion. Begin. We will need pompom yarn, knitting needles and regular yarn in a contrasting color. (The photo shows straight knitting needles, but you and I will need circular ones).
So, we put on the knitting needles the required number of loops with regular yarn and knit the desired height with an elastic band. In my case, this is 10 rows with a 2 x 2 elastic band. Close the loops. You should end up with something like this:

Now we need to attach our pompoms. To do this, we take a hook, insert it under the elastic loop, hook the thread between the pom-poms and pull it out, forming a loop. Pull out a second loop from the same thread:

That. We pull out TWO loops from ONE thread (between the pompoms). Along the way, we string the resulting loops onto circular knitting needles. And we get it like this:

Next, we knit the required number of rows in height in a circle with WRONG loops. 6 rows before the end of knitting we begin to decrease. Decrease every other row. To do this, we knit together 2 loops to the right of the pom-pom and 2 loops to the left of the pom-pom (that is, one pom-pom is reduced). We knit the next 4 loops as usual, and decrease them again.
It should look like this:
The transition from elastic to pompoms looks like this:

From above (if you pull the line a little) - like this:
Now take a large needle and thread. We make a double thread and thread the needle into the loop.

Do the same in all subsequent loops in a circle.
It is advisable to make 2-3 such circles for strength. Pull the thread and tie a knot.

From the inside out like this. And we get a hat:

In my opinion, it should be decorated with a pompom. Therefore, we arm ourselves with everything necessary.
And we make a pompom.

We attach it to the cap and get this beauty:

Since the hat is voluminous, it is good to complement it with the same scarf:

ALL! All that remains is to remind you that knitting with this yarn is easy, pleasant and quick.
P.S. The hat turns out to be warm, for the average winter. If you want to knit in cold weather, it is better to make a lining (from knitwear, fleece or knit from wool).
If you want to knit for the fall, then you knit not 2 loops from one thread, but 1 loop. The fabric turns out to be more loose.
If you want berets, then “plant” the pompoms on the elastic band as tightly as possible. GOOD LUCK!

I have already written that there are now a lot of yarns on sale that are interesting in texture. One of these is pom pom yarn. The yarn is beautiful... But what to do with it? How to knit with pompom yarn? Today we will learn how to knit a scarf from such yarn... And at the same time, we will take a closer look at the techniques of knitting yarn with pom-poms

How to knit with pompom yarn - master class

The main thing is to remember that we are only knitting the thread between the bobbles...

First way: twist the thread with your fingers, creating a loop and put it on the knitting needle Second way: take a hook and make a loop in each stretch between the pompoms, as for crocheting))) and immediately transfer each loop to a knitting needle, or you can transfer it later)))
We cast on the required number of loops... Now,

A guide to knitting yarn with pompoms

  • When knitting yarn with pompoms, the edge loop is not removed, but is always knitted!
  • We only knit the thread between the pompoms!
  1. 1. Option: knit all the loops

When knitted this way, the pompoms seem to “look in both directions”, the knitting is loose, knitted very simply and quickly))) Garter stitch is used between the pompoms.

When knitting in this way, the pompoms seem to “look in one direction”; on one side you will see such braids, but on the other side they will not be visible))

With this knitting, the fabric will be denser than the previous one...

To create a very dense product, you can cast on two loops between the bobbins initially, using the first method, and knit them with stockinette stitch (option 2)
I’ll say right away that I haven’t knitted anything in this way))) But it might be useful for something)))

how to bind off stitches when knitting yarn with pompoms

This is probably the most difficult thing in this process)))

The bottom line is that we knit one loop as usual, with a working thread, then we pull the next loop through it, which we then knit with a working thread, etc. It’s not clear, right?)))

Let's look:
Here you have the last row in which you need to close off the loops.
We take the hook in the right hand))) it will be more convenient... and knit a loop, as if we were just knitting a row... i.e. working thread between the pumps...
you have a loop on your hook... now grab the loop from the left needle and pull it through the loop that is on the hook...
There is a loop on the hook again, we will knit it with a working thread (from the ball) and so we will alternate until we have closed all the loops...

You'll get something like this)))

And one more thing... it happens when the thread runs out and you need to continue it... of course, you can simply tie the threads together, but here it is possible that you will get a different distance between the pumps... and this is “not good”))) I suggest doing this :
I assure you that this thickened pump will not stand out and no one will see it except you)))

I hope that you now understand how to knit from yarn with pom-poms and you can knit a scarf from such yarn, although in my case it’s more like a stole, its size is about 45 cm by 170 cm. Knitted from 250g. Turkish yarn with pom-poms “Verena” with knit stitches))) You probably noticed that my stole has something similar to tassels...

How to make scarf tassels from pom-pom yarn

How to do this... It's simple... when casting on loops, you create a loop not in every broach, but after two, i.e. skip 3 pompoms. Cast on 10 loops.

it looks like this

We knit all subsequent rows loops through one pompom.

We knit until we get tired of it))) to the length we need. Don't forget that edge loops are knitted, not removed!

Knitted?))) Now we need to close the loops so that we get the same “tassels” as when casting on. We proceed as follows: we make loops, as I described above, but when you knit a loop with a working thread, skip three pom-poms)))
When you have closed all the loops, cut the thread so that you have one “extra” pompom left. It needs to be secured, pull it through the last loop (from right to left) and simply sew it to the nearest pompom. Also sew on the pompom that “dangles” at the very beginning of the product (we got it when casting on loops)))

All!!! Yarn scarf with pompoms is ready!!!

Of course, you don’t have to knit a scarf the same size as mine))) Just cast on not 10 stitches when you start knitting, but less, well, for example, 5... and your scarf will be much narrower and it will take half as many threads )))
