Snowman made of cotton swabs

If your child wants to create a craft from cotton swabs for the New Year 2019 with his own hands in the form of a snowman, then help him by using our master class. There is nothing complicated or incomprehensible about it; on the contrary, the ease of action will amaze you. Let's get started working at home.

For creativity you will need:

  • cotton buds;
  • cardboard;
  • decorative stones;
  • ready-made eyes;
  • compass;
  • orange gouache paints;
  • scissors;
  • glue.

Work process:

  1. In order to make such a cool snowman as in the photo, you will first need to make three circles, varying in size. Then you need to cut them out with scissors.
  2. To get a complete body of a fairy-tale character, we should fasten all three circles with glue, from smallest to largest. On top of that, don’t forget about the snowman’s hands.
  3. Having completed this creative stage, we will need to decorate our product with cotton swabs, or rather with their fluffy white tips. Using scissors, we cut off only the head of the sticks and begin to improve our craft. To do this, take glue and lubricate the surface of the cardboard circles, starting from the bottom - the largest. Immediately attach cotton wool blanks around the entire circumference of the circle, as shown in the photo. The number of rows to fill the empty body space depends entirely on the size of your snowman.
  4. Having completed the lower part of the body, we design the middle part in the same way.
  5. The snowman's head is also created using the same scrap material that we used earlier. Only after the main work will we need to decorate the entire character. To do this, we need to glue ready-made plastic eyes, previously purchased at a specialized store.
  6. We highlight the nose using orange gouache paint. Mouth - according to your desire!
  7. The final step will be to attach the buttons on the snowman's clothes. In this case, their role will be played by various decorative stones you have selected. This, in principle, is the whole complexity of creativity. As you can see, it looks easy and quite funny. If you try, you can create an excellent craft for the Christmas tree with your own hands and not only for the New Year 2019. Imagine and thereby make the world more beautiful and pleasant!

Cotton wool and cotton pads are one of the most popular materials for creating New Year's crafts. Obviously, their external resemblance to snow affects them. We have put together some wonderful master classes for you using them: you will learn how to make snowmen, Christmas tree decorations and even snowfall with your own hands!

Snowflakes on a Christmas tree made from cotton pads

This is a very simple and beautiful New Year's decoration. Several of these snowflakes will decorate any Christmas tree.

What do we need?

  • several cotton pads
  • small pieces of colored felt
  • stencil for cutting circles or compasses
  • braid or narrow strips of felt for hanging

Progress

We cut out colored circles from felt, the diameter of which will be slightly smaller than the diameter of the cotton pads.

Divide the cotton pads into two halves. Draw lines crosswise using a pen. Apply them as if you were drawing an eight-pointed snowflake. We poke a hole in the center (you can use an awl). Then we make slits as shown in the photo.

Tip: If the cotton pads are too thin, there is no need to separate them into halves - use them whole.

Then the cut parts need to be carefully pulled together to form the “legs” of a snowflake. When everything is ready, take a whole cotton pad, put a piece of colored felt on it and cover with the prepared base. We sew the craft together with white thread from the front side, placing the future loop inside.

Make several of these snowflakes and decorate the Christmas tree with them.

If you wish, you can connect snowflakes together into a garland - it will turn out very unusual and beautiful.

Christmas tree decoration: angels made from cotton pads

These angels are so weightless and touching! They will definitely not leave anyone indifferent. It will take no more than five minutes to make one angel. And when you get the hang of it, even less.

What do we need?

  • small beads
  • Super glue
  • gold or silver outline paint (optional)

Progress

Take a cotton pad and carefully cut it in half. Place a bead in the center of one of the halves.

We work out the edges of the disk with thinning scissors or make a small pattern using ordinary thin scissors. Then we tighten the disk under the bead using thread.

The upper part of the future angel is ready. Now take the second part of the cotton pad and fold it in half.

Fold in two corners to form a triangle. And then we wrap them inside.

We place a toothpick in the center so that we have something to hold on to when we fasten the two parts of our New Year's craft together.

Directly under the bead head, drip a small drop of glue.

We put our skirt on it. Then we decorate the finished angel using contour paint.

The angel's neck can be wrapped with regular thread or thin gold wire. This will make it very convenient to hang them on the Christmas tree.

Snowfall from cotton wool

This is a very simple to make, but incredibly beautiful looking accessory. A little cotton wool - and a magical snowfall will begin in your room!

What do we need?

  • large pack of cotton wool
  • white thread for sewing

Progress

We insert the thread into the needle. Pour glue into any bowl and immerse the thread in it. We form small balls of cotton wool in our hands. Then we pierce them with a needle and pass the thread through the center. We put on as many balls as we like.

If after some time the thread becomes dry, gently dip it in glue again and continue the process.

In this way you can make very beautiful snow garlands. And if you hang the threads vertically from the ceiling, you will get a very beautiful snowfall. The cotton wool can be additionally decorated with sparkles.

Snowman made of cotton wool

What would New Year be without a snowman? Our favorite winter hero will turn out very cute. You can put it under the tree, on the windowsill, or even next to the New Year's snacks - let it decorate.

What do we need?

  • PVA glue or homemade paste
  • small twigs or straw (for hands)
  • toothpick

Progress

We soap our hands thicker and take cotton wool. We roll two (or three, if you prefer a “three-level” snowman) dense balls of different sizes. This is called the wet felting technique - this is usually how wool is rolled for crafts.

When the balls are ready, carefully place them on a flat surface and let them dry.

Pour glue into a bowl and dilute it with water in a ratio of 2:1 (2 – glue, 1 – water). You can also add dry glitter here - it will be more beautiful.

Dip the dried lumps into a bowl using tweezers. Then we take them out and dry them again.

When the parts of the future snowman are ready, we connect them together using a toothpick. It also needs to be dipped in glue first.

We will make the eyes from small black beads or seed beads. You can simply draw them.

To make a carrot for a snowman, you need to break off a small piece of a toothpick. Let's leave a small edge free so that it can be stuck into the head. Wrap the rest tightly with a thin layer of cotton wool. Then the carrots also need to be moistened in the glue mixture. When it dries, paint it orange.

We stick twig handles into the snowman's body on the sides. You can put a paper bucket on our handsome guy’s head or add some other traditional accessories.

As you can see, working with cotton wool and cotton pads is easy and pleasant. The result is simply wonderful. Try repeating any of the proposed ideas to see for yourself.

Larisa Semikolennykh

Snowflake Masha did it on her own, I took photographs, then we created a presentation together.

You will need: Plate, plasticine, cotton buds, a sheet of cardboard, scissors, a stack, a felt-tip pen or pencil

1. To get an even circle, you need to place the plate on the cardboard and carefully trace it with a felt-tip pen

You should end up with a circle like this

2. Cut out a circle

Like this

3. Remove the cotton wool from one side of 8 cotton swabs and put them aside

4. The rest cut cotton swabs in half, approximately 20 pieces

5. Then cut each half in half again

Each the stick is divided like this

You should succeed:1- socket with long with chopsticks and cotton wool at one end. 2- socket with short with chopsticks with cotton wool at the end 3- socket with short chopsticks without cotton

6. Find the middle of the circle and mark it with a dot

7. Roll a medium-sized ball from plasticine and place it in the middle of the circle

8. Press the lump of plasticine with your finger so that you get a thick cake

9. Stick 2 sticks/where there is no cotton wool/ into a flat cake, first at the top and bottom, then along the sides

10. You need to plug in 4 more sticks between them. You should have 8 rays

11. Roll out the rest of the plasticine "sausage", length 16 cm

12. Divide "sausage" stack into 16 parts, 1 cm for each part

13. Roll 16 balls

14. Forming rays snowflakes:

1) Raise stick and place the ball approximately in the middle of the beam

2) Press and form a cake

3) Squeeze the cake on both sides at the same time

15. We also attach the next ball to stick, but closer to the end of the beam. We do this on all rays snowflakes.

16. Stick it in the middle snowflakes, between the rays are short sticks without cotton

17. Short sticks stick it with cotton wool into the middle of each ray on both sides

We do this for all the rays. Sticks you need to connect a little to get an 8-pointed star.

18. Decorate the top of the rays: stick short ones sticks with cotton wool, 2 pieces on each side

This is what should happen

19. Decorate the middle snowflakes remaining short sticks with and without cotton wool

Snowflake is ready!

You can cover it with glitter varnish or spray it with glitter hairspray

We offer you a master class on making snowflakes from sticks for the New Year with your own hands. This is a very popular and at the same time unusual New Year's decor. Such accessories look more interesting than standard paper crafts. In addition, they are much stronger.

Depending on the thickness and type of sticks you choose, you will get large and original or small and elegant decorations.

What do we need?

  • sticks
  • Super glue
  • protractor for precise marking of angles
  • paints

As a base, you can choose special wooden sticks for crafts (they always come in a set of one hundred pieces and can be found in any creativity department). Also, popsicle sticks will work (if you really like popsicles, you won't have any problems). You can also take skewers, sushi sticks or toothpicks. Cotton swabs can be a good alternative. And if you want something very original, take ordinary thin branches.

How to do it?

The snowflake can be made standard - eight-pointed. However, it will be much more convenient to make a six-rayed snowflake. In this case, glue the sticks along the protractor at thirty degrees.

Once the six sticks are glued together, place an extra skewer on the end of each stick. This way we will lengthen the rays of the snowflake to make decorating them more interesting.

Then glue several cross sticks and close the central circle. Make crosshairs or “checkmarks” at the ends.

You can glue all the parts of this New Year’s craft separately, or you can glue them on one base at once.

You can also lay out a star on the finished six-pointed base. Diamonds look very nice.

You can make a hole at one end of the snowflake using a drill or glue a metal ring. Through this hole you can pass a fishing line or a thread of rain.
