One of the advantages of needlework is that it does not require huge expenses, and the necessary tools and raw materials for the work can be easily and inexpensively purchased in a specialized store. So, you will need a small kit:

Before creating curtains for the kitchen, it is better to practice on less voluminous products, such as napkins. Try using different sized tools and threads to see the difference in results. Having knitted a napkin from a certain material, measure it and wash it - this way you can determine how much shrinkage the finished fabric gives and whether it sheds after washing. Beautiful light curtains are a combined solution of a linen base and openwork lace in the form of a wide border with floral motifs. The color of the lace and background can be changed, focusing on the design of the surrounding interior. The dimensions of the parts knitted using the fillet lace technique are 13.5 cm x 80 cm. For two curtains you will need 4 parts - two inserts and two lower borders. The amount of yarn for the indicated sizes is 2 pcs. 100 g each (one skein is enough for 85 cm of border and 70 cm of insert), it is better to choose cotton threads in standard skeins of 387 m/50 g. Tool size - No. 1.

For a product with dimensions of 32 cm x 58 cm, you will need white cotton yarn (330 m/50 g - 1 skein) and a hook No. 1.25 or No. 1.5. The width can be adjusted to individual sizes, each subsequent repeat is plus a chain of 40 chain stitches.

(1 ch inc instead of the first dc of the first row, 7 ch for the ruck of the first row), and then continue according to the pattern. 1. Bruges (Vologda lace) – crocheted lace is a combination of striped braid, background mesh and decorative motifs. 1. Sirloin. This is a skillful imitation of fillet lace, in which the empty cells of a pre-made mesh are filled with threads. With crochet, this effect is recreated using empty and filled columns, the alternation of which gives the intended pattern. This is the most canonical sound of a knitted curtain. Filet knitting patterns are similar to cross stitch patterns, making them easy to read. This method is quite simple and great for beginners as the work progresses very quickly.

1. Bruges. Also an imitation of lace, only from Bruges, in Russia it is known as Vologda. First, a braid is knitted, the bends of which are subsequently folded into a pattern, tying them with various motifs. Each pattern in this type of knitting is unique and unrepeatable. This knitting method is good for people with good imagination; they will be able to create their own patterns. Patterns for Bruges are more difficult to understand, the knitting process takes longer, but the finished product will be akin to a work of art.

1. Irish. All elements are first knitted separately and only then connected with a large mesh. The motifs of this knitting are all kinds of leaves and flowers, obtained by tying thicker threads with thinner ones. Then, on an openwork basis, the motifs are folded into the final pattern. This knitting method is best chosen by more experienced knitters; it is quite complicated. It is unique in that until now it has not been possible to create such a knitting by machine, so every piece of Irish lace is most likely created by human hands.

1. Broomstick. Peruvian knitting that uses a very thick wooden needle. First, we knit columns with it, between which, thanks to the large gaps, we can wedge various patterns.

As you can see, if you set a goal to knit unique curtains for the kitchen, you will definitely succeed. Of course, they won’t fit in every room and it takes a lot of time to knit them, but it’s quite possible to knit curtains for the kitchen.

It turned out by chance. I was asked to make a tutorial on knitting some kind of motif for a curtain. I selected several options from the Internet, I must say that this task was not easy, because there weren’t many such ideas.

I collected all the photos in one video in order to consult with my subscribers. So what would you think? Everyone liked it so much that many put knitting curtains in their top priorities, while others started knitting immediately with the release of the first MK.

These models are different: elegant, light, airy, from motifs, mesh, with flowing threads, I made a description for them and a master class for some videos.

Knitted curtains will create a special coziness in the kitchen. And their owner will be proud of her unique work.

To knit curtains, of course, you need to use a thin cotton thread. Ideally, it would be spool threads for sewing and a hook, respectively, numbered 0.5. But such work is very delicate, not everyone can do it.

You can try taking “snowflake” or “iris” threads from the Kirov factory. The hook number 0.9 - 1.25 will suit them.

Unfortunately, I can’t say exactly how many threads will be needed. This depends on the length of the threads in the skein, the size of the window, and the density of knitting.

Perhaps for a window-sill-length curtain on a standard window you will need 12-15 skeins of yarn, 100 grams each.

Buying additional threads, in my opinion, should not create any problems now.

Whole cloth knitted curtains

These are perhaps the easiest crocheted curtains - the patterns for them are so simple that even beginners will be able to figure them out. And these are very convenient to knit. By the way, the threads here don’t have to be too thin; any cotton thread will do.

This model uses a simple mesh, along which colored openwork paths run in several places. Decorated with a border of simple flowers. You can come up with some other border here.

Knitting should begin with motifs - flowers, which are immediately connected to each other in a line. You need enough flowers to create a border the width of your curtain.

Then chains of air loops are attached along the upper edge of the petals in the order according to the diagram and then the curtain is knitted upward with a mesh.

It is more convenient to finish with an openwork track, from which you can hang the curtain.

Lightweight mesh curtains

The second model is very similar to the first, the mesh in it is only knitted according to a different pattern with dense inserts.

You should also start knitting from the border, or rather, from a chain of air loops along which to thread the lower border. In this case, you won’t have to make calculations and the border will turn out perfect, otherwise it may end up in incomplete fragments.

And once finished, you will need to knit the border on the side, and from the bottom - this way you can adjust the height of the curtain.

Beautiful crocheted curtains in two parts

The curtain consists of two parts, each of which is knitted from left to right (right to left) in relation to the window, i.e., we will need to cast on the number of loops along the length of the curtain and knit it in width.

What I especially like is that there is no need to do any calculations here.

We proceed as follows: first we must decide how long our knitted curtain will be.

We start crocheting curtains with a set of air loops. The result should be a chain equal to the length of the curtain, maybe a little less, because with further knitting it will stretch. But this doesn’t matter, because we will knit the first row from another skein!

This way you can adjust the size and tie or undo the cast-on chain.

This is how the curtain pattern will be arranged:

To knit the second half of the curtain, you already need to cast on the same number of loops as when knitting the first part, so that they are absolutely the same.

I would also tie the finished curtains at the top and bottom with a row of single crochets. This way the edges will be smoother and neater and it will be more convenient to hang the curtains.

Curtain with cascading waves of threads

Curtains made of threads are fashionable now, and in this knitted version they look especially stylish.

Apparently, the needlewomen themselves came up with patterns for this curtain, which I found on the Internet.

But it seems to me that the pattern could be corrected and the full squares between the arches could be placed not in a checkerboard pattern, but on top of each other, which is exactly how the curtains are seen in the photo.

Then you will need to alternate rows: a row of single crochets and a row of grid (empty and filled cells).

Someone might like the curtain in this color version, it’s very cheerful and bright. A particularly delicate curtain that will suit any interior will be available in white (see photo above).

And it is connected in a slightly different way.

The numbers in the diagram indicate the number of loops in each motif. I only have doubts about 65 VP in the arches, it’s too much, I need to try it on a sample and clarify this figure.

In the pattern you can use single crochets, or double crochets, or three crochets, as you wish.

Before crocheting curtains with such thread waves, you will need to make a calculation.

Knit a small sample measuring 10 - 20 cm and adjust the number of air loops in the arches as you wish.

Iron the sample through a damp cloth and count how many loops there are per 1 cm of pattern. Multiply this amount by the width of the future curtain. Approximately this number of loops will need to be cast on for knitting.

But you also need to take into account that the pattern begins and ends with double crochets. Therefore, to be on the safe side, I also recommend starting knitting the first row with another skein.

Crochet curtains from motifs

Crocheting curtains from motifs is also interesting, one or two motifs at a time and we will quietly arrive at the desired result. And they turn out simply gorgeous!

Curtain made of beautiful round motifs

This is a very beautiful and somewhat unusual motif, framed with openwork mesh. Between the motives for connection there are small simple motives.

First we knit one large motif, and then when knitting the second and each next one in the last row, we connect them together using two toes on each side.

Intermediate motifs can be knitted immediately or after completing the knitting of all large motifs, connecting with them.

There is no border here, the circular motifs themselves create a beautiful edge.

Floral curtain

This very light airy openwork curtain is knitted from simple motifs - flowers.

Similar to the first option, you first need to knit large motifs, and then small ones. The connection is made using two arches.
