The most expensive things! Which pencils are better: we test and choose the best pencils The most expensive pencil.

Other reasons

I will tell you about the most expensive things!

1) The most expensive pencil in the world.

If you have already reached Abramovich's level or you simply have nowhere to put your money, then these pencils were probably invented for people like you. After all, each of the pencils is packed in its original packaging in the form of a gold bar, and this is not without reason. Each pencil is coated with the thinnest layer of real 24 Karat gold. All you have to do is consider the cost of money when you sharpen it.

2) The most expensive bicycle in the world.
Bicycles "Gold byke crystal edition" from the company Aurumania are released in a limited edition of 10 copies. Each bike is made by hand. All visible parts are plated in 24 carat gold and inlaid with more than 600 Swarovski crystals. The price of one such bicycle, which is EUR 80,000, includes a 10-year unconditional warranty and delivery to anywhere in the world. Yeah, for that price all you have to do is hang it in a frame on
wall.

3) The most expensive lighter in the world.
The most expensive lighter in the world S.T. Dupont $74,000

The most expensive lighter in the world, made by the famous French manufacturer of luxury goods S.T. Dupont. The lighter is made of 18-karat white gold and inlaid with 468 brilliant-cut diamonds, which explains the high cost of the gift. For clients who are discerning about their image, Dupont also offers a fountain pen in the same style as a lighter.

4) The most expensive toilet paper in the world.
The most expensive toilet paper in the world Renova $3.5

A roll of toilet paper from Renova, at $3.5, is the most expensive in the world. And if you are already rich enough, then it does not suit you to wipe your loin with cheap white paper. Renova has the solution, with six stylish colors to choose from: green, orange, black, red, blue and pink. The paper has a very pleasant texture to the touch. Restroom paper is already used in high-end clubs and restaurants.

5) the most expensive cell phone.
iPhone 3GS SUPREME $3,150,000

The most expensive iPhone in the world today was made by English jeweler Stuart Hughes.
The phone took 10 months of painstaking work. The iPhone's unibody body weighs 271 grams and is cast from the purest 22-karat gold. The front edges are inlaid with 136 flawless diamonds totaling 68 carats, with a clarity factor of F (highest). The bullseye emblem on the back of the device has fifty-three diamonds weighing 1 carat. The composition is crowned by a navigation button, which features a unique and very rare diamond of 7.1 carats.
Packaged in a 7kg case made from a single piece of granite and lined with gold cashmere and nubuck.
OK it's all over Now!

The first of September is approaching, and I, like most parents, am wondering: what to put in your child's school bag? What to buy so that it is both high quality and inexpensive. Here, for example, are colored pencils: what are the best colored pencils?, and which ones are not so good? What pencils should you buy for your child?, and which ones are better to refuse to buy. Let's try to figure it out.

A long time ago I came to the conclusion that constantly buying boxes with a large number of pencils does not make sense. Typically, pencils of primary colors wear out faster - red, yellow, blue and green. Therefore, it makes sense to buy one large box of pencils (12, 24, 36 colors), and then, as needed, supplement it with pencils from sets of 6 colors. And in school lessons, as my experience shows, pencils of 6 primary colors are usually sufficient.
That's why I decided to test pencils from six-color sets. For this purpose, I purchased many boxes of pencils to find out: what pencils are best to buy for a child??

In total, 14 sets of pencils from 13 manufacturers took part in the test.

Above is a video review, below is a review with photos.

The Staedtler company is represented by two different sets: I bought one specifically for testing, and I already had the other - “Noris Club” pencils I bought for my child for school for the last two years, preferring them because the manufacturer claims that “... white The protective ring around the lead strengthens the lead and increases its impact resistance." Indeed, in two years the pencils have proven themselves well. They sharpen well, the lead does not break, and one box lasted us for the entire school year.

Pencils were evaluated according to several parameters: appearance, drawing softness, brightness, price, ease of sharpening. In my opinion, these are the main parameters for assessing the quality of children's pencils.

Evaluating appearance, I looked at the quality of the lead, the wood, the coloring - what I liked and what I didn’t. I tried to be extremely objective. Rated on a five-point scale. The photo shows a clear result:

And a closer look at the pencils and grades:

Softness assessed by how the pencil glides across the paper. Does it go “like clockwork” or does it stick?

Brightness. Here, I think, everything is clear from the table. I shaded its cells twice: the first time with normal pressure, the second - barely touching the paper with the stylus. It often happens that children draw without pressing the pencil; It looks like a good pencil, but it turns out very pale. So I decided to check: what will be the brightness of the picture with light pressure?

I was pleasantly surprised that all pencils draw approximately the same. Therefore, the range of ratings turned out to be small - from 5 (the brightest) to 3 (slightly inferior in brightness). The main assessment was based on the yellow color, because it turned out to be the most obvious - it is in the yellow shading that significant differences in brightness are visible.

Price. The test involved sets of pencils costing from 26 to 230 rubles. The price range was divided into three approximately equal segments, it turned out: from 26 to 61 rubles - this is “five” points, from 65 to 80 - “four”, from 94 to 149 - “three”. I made an exception for Faber Castell pencils - their price (230 rubles) is almost 2 times higher than the nearest price competitor, so I gave them two points.
I indicate prices at the time of my purchase. But I must make a reservation - at different times and in different stores, prices can differ significantly: expensive pencils can noticeably lose in price, and cheap pencils can become more expensive.

Sharpening. I devoted a lot of time and attention to this parameter. It happens: the pencil is wonderful, it draws brightly, it goes on paper easily and softly, but it takes the third or even fifth time to sharpen it - and a lot of time is wasted and a lot of nerves are spent (pencils are usually sharpened in a “clump”, not one at a time). And the money, it turns out, is wasted - sometimes a third of the pencil goes into shavings.

I tested the sharpening at least twice: I broke off the pencil lead twice (or more) and immediately sharpened it with a regular manual sharpener. In my opinion, it is a manual sharpener that allows you to objectively evaluate the quality of wood and lead. My sharpener is good, not cheap (look in the labyrinth, my-shop), but it’s old and therefore dull - which created additional difficulties and allowed me to more fully evaluate the quality of the pencil. Additionally, I also used a new inexpensive sharpener - it did a better job.

A little advice: if pencils don’t sharpen well and constantly break, then try sharpening them not with a manual sharpener, but with a mechanical or electric sharpener. Both do a good job - there will be much fewer broken pencils when sharpening.

Until recently, I constantly used a mechanical sharpener (see our sharpener in the labyrinth online store, my-shop). It is more convenient than a regular one, but I wanted something even more convenient, so a couple of months ago I bought an electric sharpener - and I am very pleased with the purchase. As of this year, our family has two schoolchildren, and pencils are constantly needed for drawing at home. You have to sharpen a lot, and an electric sharpener saves a lot of time.

So, back to testing: the pencil sharpens well if I need to turn it in the sharpener only a few times, while the pencil turns smoothly, without jerking, and the shavings are smooth. And, of course, after finishing sharpening, the lead should remain in the pencil and not get stuck in the sharpener.
I sharpened each pencil in a clean and empty sharpener.

Pencils received five points; I had no complaints about them: they sharpen smoothly and well, and the lead does not break off.

Four points - minor flaws during sharpening, but overall this process does not cause irritation.

Three points - I didn’t manage to sharpen it right away, no pleasure from the process.

Two points - sharpens every other time, the lead often breaks.

Zero points - the pencil was sharpened only with a mechanical or electric sharpener. Three attempts to sharpen a pencil with a manual sharpener ended in failure. I will never buy these pencils again!

For clarity, I photographed the pencils after sharpening. I sharpened the brown pencils and placed the blue ones side by side for comparison - these are the pencils from the box. The top pencil received an "A" for sharpening, the bottom pencil was an outsider, sharpened with a mechanical sharpener (the manual sharpener never did the job).

Pencils stand out especially when sharpened "Wopex. Noris Color" from Staedtler. The wood of these pencils is very dense, and the pencils themselves are significantly heavier than others. Basically, the tested pencils weighed 5 grams, the "Wopex. Noris Color" pencil - 8 grams. Apparently, this is why it takes more effort to sharpen them. I considered this a plus, deciding that such a pencil would last longer.

Having added up all the points, I received a final grade and built a table with the results, placing the pencils with the maximum score in the highest positions. The points scored in pencil are in the last column.

From "Centrum". If I had not lowered their score for appearance because of the dark wood, and had given them not two, but at least four points, then they would have been in the top three winners. And for the price, these are one of the most inexpensive pencils. Bravo! But here my subjectivity came into play: I don’t like black wood in pencils, they seem untidy to me. But this is my personal perception. For some, dark wood, on the contrary, may be a plus: such pencils, for example, are more noticeable, and it will be easier for the child to find his pencil among strangers. These pencils can be recommended for purchase at children's parties - for art competitions when a lot of inexpensive packaging is required. Yes, and they will find use at home.

Another inexpensive pencil I want to mention is "Kalyaku-Malyaku". At a relatively low cost, the pencils showed good results.

This concludes my review. Glad I did it. And it will come in handy more than once, so as not to have to guess “which pencils to buy?” and point your finger at the sky, focusing only on price and packaging. And I hope this material will be useful to you too. So, don’t forget to bookmark it so you can use it more than once;)

With this I say goodbye, and... see you again!

The most expensive pencil in the world

Count Anton Wolfgang von Faber-Castell heads the family writing instrument business, founded in 1761 by Casper Faber in Germany.
In 1839, Baron Lothar von Faber released the world's first collection of writing instruments under the Faber-Castell brand, and in 2008, Faber-Castell officially became the manufacturer of the world's most expensive pencils.

The limited edition Graf von Faber-Castell Perfect Pencil included pencils made from 240-year-old wood and 18-karat gold. The upper end of the pencil was decorated with three diamonds.

The Graf von Faber-Castell Perfect Pencil collection includes only 99 handmade pencils, each of which cost a record 9 thousand euros.

Longest pencil

Several companies competed to create the world's longest pencil.
The world's first longest pencil was manufactured by Cumberland Pencil (UK) in May 2001. Its length is 7 meters 91 centimeters and it weighs 446 kg and 36 grams.

And in November 2002, the 2001 record was broken - the longest pencil at that time was made by Faber-Castell (Selangor, Malaysia). Pencil length - 19.75 meters, diameter 80 centimeters; The diameter of the stylus is 15 centimeters.

In August 2007, enthusiast Ashrita Furman from the USA created the world's largest pencil, 23 meters long. The weight of the giant was about 10 tons. The creation of the pencil took 8 thousand boards, inside it was a graphite rod with a diameter of 25 cm. At the end of the pencil, the creator installed an eraser weighing 90 kg.

The only drawback of these monsters was that they were simply impossible to use. A The largest pencil that writes has a length of “only” 40 cm. This is an enlarged copy of a well-known stationery item. You can use it in the same way as a regular pencil.

Golden pencil

Designer Daisung Kim decided to expand the range of luxury stationery items. Not long ago he presented an exclusive pencil “24K pencil”, which he made by hand.

The pencil has a unique surface - it is coated with a thin layer of 999.96 pure gold. And even the box of this difficult pencil is made in the form of a gold bar.

Chocolate pencil dessert

Japanese designers have distinguished themselves again - they created pencils from chocolate. The company did this project together with confectioner Tsujiguchi Hironobu, who owns many famous confectionery shops. And they came out with a package of pencils made from real chocolate in different shades.

You can probably try drawing with them... but they are better suited for something else. Chocolate pencils will be extremely useful for making desserts: by sharpening the pencil with the included sharpener, you get beautiful shavings with which to sprinkle the cake. The pencils are made from different types of chocolate and are suitable for all lovers of sweets.

Flexible pencil

This pencil will calm any capricious child and relieve stress from an adult.

Pencil clothespin

Creative pencil by Yuta Watanabe. has an undeniable advantage - it does not need to be sharpened. Simply replace the lead

The largest set of colored pencils

The collection produced by the Felissimo company can rightfully be considered the largest set of colored pencils in the world. She produces packs of colored pencils of 500 pieces - and that's 500 shades! Moreover, each pencil in the package has its own story and even a name.

The price is interesting because a small set of 25 pencils of the same tone is produced per month and costs $33. It will take 20 months to complete the entire collection and you can buy a set of pencils for $660. Another distinctive feature is that pencil stands and mounts are specially produced so that they can be conveniently organized and stored.

Expert: Anna Skripnik - artist (18 years of experience)

Pencils are different from pencils: for children, schoolchildren and professional artists, these are completely different tools, differing in the quality of the stroke, the intensity of the pigment, the ability to shade, etc. Thus, most products for young children have a triangular shape for learning the correct grip and a soft lead, For schoolchildren, pencils with different hardnesses and an expanded palette are provided; for professionals, a rich range of colors in the set and various lead textures, preferably soft.

A team of EXPERTOLOGY experts found out which manufacturers offer the best pencils for different tasks and compiled a rating, which we strongly recommend that you read: You will definitely make the right choice and will not be disappointed in it.

The best colored pencils for kids

For preschool children, it is important that the colors are bright and clearly distinguishable, the stroke lays evenly and without much effort, and the shape is convenient for learning the skills of holding a pinch (finger position). Sets usually contain 12 or more pencils in primary colors. As a rule, the thick lead is made of safe materials and pigments that are not dangerous if they get into the mouth, and its frame is made of wood or plastic, coated with an appropriate color. Experts recommend choosing thick pencils with a triangular cross-section - they are difficult to break with strong pressure, and they are much more comfortable to hold as an adult.

The first in the rating, Jovi Maxi, meets all the requirements of the category for kids: they are thickened to 1 cm in triangular section, their lead is soft and richly bright, absolutely safe. The products are certified and comply with European standards, despite their Chinese origin. The package contains 12 pencils that promote the formation of the correct pinch (the position of the fingers for writing), they are suitable for lessons with small children from 1 year.

A distinctive feature of pencils is their durable lead, which does not break in a wooden case even if it falls from a table. Also noteworthy: the strokes are laid out evenly, the colors, if the shading technique is followed, smoothly flow into each other and are mixed and shaded.

The only inconvenience when using Jovi Maxi is the need for a sharpener for thick pencils, as well as some skill. The cost of a set of 12 colors is from 400 rubles.

Advantages

    Bright colors;

    Convenient pencil shape for children's hands;

    Soft but durable lead;

    Safe lead composition.

Flaws

    Relatively high cost;

    You need a special sharpener for thick pencils.

Stabilo Trio colored pencils are available in two versions: full-size thick and shortened for little ones, although both models are suitable for use by children from 1 year. The set includes 12 or 18 pencils of different colors, which leave bright lines on paper with a thickness of 4 mm (this is the diameter of the lead). The triangular shape of the rod, convenient for right-handed and left-handed people, helps to master the correct grip with small fingers.

The Stabilo Trio lead is made using natural wax, the strokes lie softly on the paper, the colors blend with each other.

The cost of the product with a thickened rod is per set of 18 pcs. starts from 600 rubles.

Advantages

    Bright colors;

    Thickened pencil shape with a triangular cross-section;

    Soft touches;

    Safe material.

Flaws

  • Some users noted the fragility of the lead.

Specially created for children under 3 years of age, Crayola Jumbo colored pencils with a thick lead are distinguished by mechanical strength and at the same time ease of application. The wood used allows for effortless sharpening. The set usually contains 8 multi-colored pencils, but they can only be distinguished by the shade of the rod and the applied animal icon - there is no colored wood coating. The round cross-section will force the baby and parents to work hard with the correct grip.

The cost of the Crayola Jumbo set starts from 329 rubles.

Advantages

    Thickened pencil;

    Durable lead with bright pigment;

    Soft wood for turning.

Flaws

    The pencil is not coated with the appropriate paint; the color can be determined only by the pigment of the lead.

    Round cross-section, inconvenient for children.

Thick pencils with a lead of optimal strength and sufficient softness Crayola Mini Kids took fourth place in the category of our rating. Their wooden shell is not covered with color; you will have to choose the desired shade based on the lead and the color image of the animal. The strokes are bright, but not particularly thick. But the manufacturer has provided convenience for small fingers: the cross-section of the pencil, although round, is non-slip, the tool is securely fixed in the grip with a firm grip.

The cost of a set of 8 pieces of Crayola Mini Kids is about 324 rubles.

Advantages

    Bright strokes and optimal core hardness;

    Pleasant non-slip wood surface.

Flaws

  • The surface is not covered with the appropriate color.

The best colored pencils for schoolchildren

For schoolchildren, it is important to have a variety of colors in a pencil set, and it is necessary to correctly determine the softness of the lead: during a lesson, it is inconvenient for children to constantly sharpen pencils that break when pressed too hard. For primary and secondary students, experts recommend choosing a medium-hard stylus.

The most popular pencils for schoolchildren, Koh-I-Noor Mondeluz, can be purchased in sets of 6, 12, 18, 24 and 32 pieces as needed. Their special feature is a soft watercolor-type lead, that is, the drawing can be blurred with water and get the effect of paint. They are also good for drawing individual lines on paper and underlining in notebooks.

The varnished cedar wood is embossed with gold, and each pencil is colored to match the lead pigment. Koh-I-Noor Mondeluz is suitable for elementary, middle and high school students due to its versatility, ease of sharpening and bright colors.

You can buy Czech products in a set of 6 pieces from 124 rubles.

Advantages

    Watercolor lead with rich pigmentation;

    Convenient sharpening;

    Impact strength of the stylus;

    Variety of sets from 6 to 32 pencils.

Flaws

  • Relatively high cost.

In second place in the ranking are bright American pencils Crayola Twistables. They do not need sharpening - the lead can be unscrewed, which is very convenient for children over 3 years old. In addition, through the plastic casing, the remainder of the colored rod is visible, and the comfort of grip is not affected (unlike sharpening pencils, the length of which decreases after each sharpening).

The lack of sharpening means there is no sharp tip on the lead, so you won't get a fine line with Crayola Twistables; they are more suitable for drawing than for use in workbooks. The rod does not break, it lasts for a really long time.

There are various sets of twist-out pencils: 12, 18, 24 and 30 pieces. A pack of 24 pieces costs an average of 347 rubles.

Advantages

    Soft lead;

    Bright colors and shades;

    Efficient consumption;

    No need to sharpen;

    Various sets.

Flaws

  • Not defined.

Third place in the ranking was taken by Kores “Kolores Duo” pencils with a triangular cross-section for ease of grip and relieving stress on the fingers during long drawing sessions. The lead is extra soft, it does not scratch the paper, and the strokes are bright. Each pencil has two different colors on both sides, which saves space and maintains the ease of holding the tool when sharpening. By the way, the manufacturer included a sharpener in each pack.

A set of 12 pieces (24 colors) can be bought for an average of 250 rubles.

Advantages

    Very soft, yet durable lead;

    Two-color pencils;

    Optimal price;

    Triangular section;

    Sharpener included.

Flaws

  • Not sold everywhere.

Faber-Castell pencils are of the highest quality, with a triangular cross-section and soft lead. The manufacturer supplies large sets of pencils with which you can achieve smooth tonal transitions, which is especially convenient for young artists. Pictures can be blurred with water (watercolor lead), and strokes from fabrics can be easily erased.

Each pencil in the Grip series has a special zone for writing a name, and a non-slip grip zone with massage rubber nubs is created for fingers. The Eco series comes with a sharpener, but there are no anti-slip checkers.

The lead is reliably protected from breakage when dropped by a special gluing technology, the body is made of Californian cedar and is varnished, and the pencil can be sharpened well with ordinary sharpeners.

The cost of the Faber-Castell Eco product is low - 201 rubles for 12 colors, and the Grip series for young artists is about 2349 rubles for 48 pieces.

Advantages

    Watercolor lead;

    Anti-slip coating;

    Triangular section;

    Convenient sharpening;

    Possibility to sign each pencil.

Flaws

  • High price of the Grip series.

Maped Duo Color Peps

The last product in the category of supplies for schoolchildren is Maped – double-sided pencils Duo Color Peps in sets of 12 and 18 pieces (24 and 36 colors, respectively). The body is triangular, so the child’s hand will not get tired during the drawing process, which is especially important for children over 3 years old. Additional convenience is provided by a multi-layer varnish coating that prevents fingers from slipping.

The cost of a package of 24 Maped Duo Color Peps pencils is about 230 rubles.

Advantages

    Double-sided pencils;

    Impact-resistant stylus;

    Triangular body section for easy grip.

Flaws

  • The sets are insufficiently balanced in terms of gamma (according to buyers).

The Best Colored Pencils for Professionals

For architects, designers and artists working with sketches, it is important that the lines are clear, the shading is harmonious, and the image does not fade. Professional sets often have a wide color palette with shades ranging from bright to muted. The stylus is subject to requirements of moderate softness, strength and ease of sharpening to save working time.

Set of artistic colored pencils Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor 72 pcs.

The most respected pencils among graphic artists and artists are Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor pencils with a smooth, rounded body and varnished surface. Each color is numbered, so when the pencil runs out, you can purchase exactly the required shade or complete the set at your discretion.

Users have virtually no complaints about the quality of the stylus: the strokes are precise, they can be shaded if necessary, and the color is bright and saturated. The set contains active colors and pastel ones, the pencils are packed in a protective case.

Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor set 72 pcs. will be useful to naturalists, landscape painters, portrait artists and simply those who like to draw in their free time. Its cost on average is from 3,900 rubles - relatively low for such professional kits.

Advantages

    Wide range of shades;

    Metal case for convenient storage;

    High-quality lead without glare;

    Pencils can be purchased separately;

    Lack of edges on the pencil body;

    Resistant to water and fading.

Flaws

  • Not defined.

Watercolor pencils ALBRECHT DURER 60 pcs.

ALBRECHT DURER from Faber Castell are highly pigmented pencils with premium watercolor lead, made in Germany. They are specially designed for artists - the optimal softness of the rod allows you to create strokes of different characters (thickness and intensity) with a watercolor effect. Moreover, after the first blur, the image is fixed and the paint does not get wet again, the composition becomes waterproof.

The manufacturer used a special technology for double gluing the lead into a wooden case, which helps maintain its integrity during transportation and in use - the lead does not crumble, does not break, remains intact, and therefore is used effectively without taking a lot of time for sharpening.

The set contains 60 pencils of different shades, grouped by color. It’s convenient to take the kit with you anywhere and not have to worry about its safety in the ergonomic metal case. ALBRECHT DURER takes second place for its very high cost - 60 pieces will cost the artist from 7,900 rubles, although in terms of quality they are similar to the leader in the ranking Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor (only professionals can tell the difference, it’s rather a matter of taste).

Advantages

    Convenient metal case for storage and transportation;

    Waterproof finished image effect;

    Watercolor effect (it is enough to apply it 1-2 times with a damp brush);

    Protected soft lead;

    High pigmentation.

Flaws

  • High price.

Set of colored pencils Faber-Castell Goldfaber 48 colors

Another product from Faber-Castell took third place in the ranking - Goldfaber colored pencils for professionals in a set of 48 pieces. Their specificity is a high level of light fastness, color retention under lamps and the sun. In addition, the highly pigmented lead is thickened to 3.3 mm and extends the life of the pencil, and its softness (B) is optimal for applying different thicknesses of strokes and mixing colors, achieving different visual effects.

Advantages

    Erasable lead;

    Light stability of the finished image;

    Optimal softness B;

    Thickened lead to increase pencil life.

Flaws

  • There is no watercolor effect inherent in professional pencils.

Derwent Coloursoft set 72 colors

Derwent Coloursoft are suitable for drawing in various techniques from still lifes to detailed paintings; the finished images retain color in artificial and natural light conditions in the absence of heavy and dangerous components and acids in the composition of the lead. Velvety softness causes relatively quick consumption of pencils, but it is optimal thanks to the technology used to preserve the integrity of the lead and convenient sharpening.

Derwent Coloursoft set 72 can be purchased from 6,000 rubles.

Advantages

    Full Coloursoft color range in one set;

    Safe composition;

    Increased rod thickness up to 4 mm;

    Soft lead with a “velvet” stroke effect;

    Convenient sharpening.

Flaws

  • High price.
