Dorm New Year

Concerns about the session interrupted all other thoughts. People, students, New Year is just around the corner! There is no need to relax, but you can think about in advance where, with whom and when the holiday will be celebrated. My classmates, who are staying to celebrate the arrival of 2011 in the dorm, were upset. But this is not a reason to be sad! Quite the contrary - this is a chance to organize a program that will be remembered for a lifetime.

New Year's mood, if it does not come on its own, you need to create it yourself. Start in your dorm room. Usually from 2 to 8 people live together, so buying a small artificial Christmas tree, streamers, “rain” and decorations for it should not be a problem. Everyone can donate money together, but one person can choose and buy New Year’s little things. You can cut costs by crossing off an artificial Christmas tree from your shopping list. In the nearest forest you can pick up a couple of small pine branches - it’s not at all necessary to run around with a saw, because the dorm rooms are small in size.

Take the initiative into your own hands - decorate the corridor, kitchen, dorm hall. This will lift your New Year's mood and earn praise (and maybe a bonus) from the commandant. You can organize other students who live in the dorm with you to do this. Distribute responsibilities. The main thing is that everything is in moderation and with taste.

The next step is to ask who is still staying at the hostel for New Year and what they are planning to do. You can go to a cafe together. They usually organize entertainment programs and special New Year's cuisine. Thus, for the holiday you only need a beautiful outfit and a certain amount.

If celebrating in a cafe or club is expensive for you, you should take care of the entertainment program yourself. Unless, of course, you plan to celebrate the New Year alone in front of the TV. The holiday script can be downloaded on the Internet and supplemented and corrected. And if you have a good imagination, you can write completely in an original style (again, the collective mind decides).

The script can be based on a specific theme. Most often this is an animal whose year is next. 2011 is the year of the white/metal rabbit. You can think of appropriate costumes for everyone and warn in advance who should dress how or what masks and accessories to take with them.

Creating a mini concert program is as easy as shelling pears. Find out from those with whom you are going to celebrate - maybe they can do something that others cannot. For example, oriental dancing, capoera, magic tricks, songs, playing musical instruments. Let them demonstrate their skills. The presence of several competitions in the script will diversify the evening. You can hold a competition for the most original story about how one of the previous New Year holidays went. Prizes can be provided based on the total budget, having previously collected money from everyone.

Important: how you celebrate the New Year is how you want it. It turns out that you have nothing to lose by organizing the holiday yourself. I’ll probably write about the best scenarios later. So follow my articles ;)

With wishes for a happy New Year, Victoria Lyubimenko

The New Year holidays are a favorite time for many, when a lot of usual worries and the burden of everyday work fade into the background. In their duration, they resemble a small vacation, and it is customary to spend them with great fun in the circle of close and dear people. An abundance of colorful toys, garlands and decorated Christmas trees envelops all cities, turning into a real fairy tale for children. And if you have not yet decided where and how to spend these wonderful days, then a trip to Moscow will turn out to be a real adventure with a lot of new emotions.

However, Moscow is a very expensive city, especially in terms of accommodation, even if you stay in a hotel far from the center. Wouldn’t it be better to spend it on gifts or entertainment, because is it worth sitting in your comfortable room at such moments?

Not everyone knows that you can stay in Moscow for the holidays for a small fee by choosing a hostel. What is a hostel? At its core, it resembles a hostel, only the word itself comes from Germany. It is used largely because Russian people now strongly associate hostels with student “dorms,” but hostels, of course, are different from them. You shouldn’t imagine a room with torn walls, cockroaches and one socket, and even that one is straight out of the fifties and does not support modern plugs, no! Modern hostels are much more comfortable and therefore people of all ages and social status stay in them.

The peculiarity of the hostel is its population density; as a rule, the rooms accommodate from 2 to 16 people. Not everyone likes to live with strangers, but if you are going to Moscow for the New Year with a large group or family with children, then why not rent one room for everyone, because it will cost much less than living in a hotel? How much cheaper exactly?

The price of staying in a hostel depends on the distance from the center, the capacity of the rooms, and can vary from a little over a hundred rubles to almost several thousand. The road to the hostel may not be difficult. So, if you are traveling to Moscow for the winter holidays with a group and don’t know where to stay, the Labyrinth network of hostels and dormitories will save your finances by providing comfort and homeliness.

The key to a good New Year's Eve is not only a decorated tree and a cheerful company, but also a well-designed menu. Since food has begun to play such a significant role in our lives, you cannot celebrate the New Year with a pack of chips or oatmeal; you need to take care of the products and the method of preparing them in advance, because the technical equipment of the kitchens in the dorms of our country leaves much to be desired.

We present to you a selection of recipes for a festive dinner in Spartan conditions.

We've selected a few recipes for those who have a slow cooker, an oven, or neither.

As easy as pie

When everything is really bad, the oven doesn’t work and the multicooker doesn’t work, then it’s not the end of the world. There are a number of dishes that can be prepared without them.

The most common dish on every table is salad. Olivier has become boring for a long time, and he requires quite a lot of preparation. Our editors have tried it on themselves and boldly recommend you an alternative and budget-friendly version of the salad.

You will need: 1 can of green peas, 1 can of olives, a pack of crab sticks, 3-4 green cucumbers, dill and mayonnaise - the whole thing is chopped, infused and served. Well, in general, of course, the modern expanses of the Internet are replete with salad recipes for every taste and opportunity, so feel free to choose what you like best and get creative.

Many desserts also do not require baking or other complex manipulations. The “Potato” cake, beloved by everyone since childhood, for example, is prepared extremely simply. All ingredients should be mixed, formed and cooled, and there are a great many recipe options, we will focus on this: 300g of cookies (for example, “Jubilee”, “Baked Milk” or “Comfy”), 0.5 condensed milk, 150g of lubricated butter,
3 tablespoons of cocoa (heaped), 1-2 tablespoons of liqueur or rum.

Soften butter at room temperature

Beat condensed milk with butter

Grind the cookies in a blender or by hand, mix with cocoa

Mix cookies with condensed butter mixture, add alcohol

If you use additives in the form of nuts, dried fruits or candied fruits, then you need to add them to the resulting mass and knead well again

Form the cakes and refrigerate for 2-3 hours...

You can roll the finished cakes in coconut flakes so you don’t get your hands dirty when eating them :)

You can also make jelly or lollipops at home. There are thousands of simple video lessons.

Oven

When things are a little simpler, and the oven is in order, then your imagination and culinary skills have room to expand. Of course, no one expects you to start baking a holiday goose, but you are quite capable of making a roast or your favorite meat in French. So, you will need: chicken breasts, potatoes, mushrooms (canned champignons are fine), tomatoes (some people like it juicier, but not necessarily), cheese, onions (if there are no objections), mayonnaise.

All this needs to be laid out on a baking sheet in layers and baked. It will be both solemn and delicious.

You can cook dessert in the oven; everyone loves holiday cupcakes or gingerbread cookies, for example. And we opted for an English muffin, they say that its recipe is fail-safe and always turns out delicious, we need to check it out.

Filling: 100g raisins, 200-300g various candied fruits (lemon, orange, pineapple, cherry, cranberry, dogwood and whatever your heart desires),
100g of nuts (also absolutely any kind, I always experiment; I add whatever I have), 2 tbsp. rum, 50g. flour.

For the dough: 250g butter, 250g sugar, 4 eggs, 250g flour, 50g starch, 1 tsp (level) baking powder.

Raisins, candied fruits, nuts - mix everything, add rum and sprinkle with flour, mix and leave for a while. Dough - beat butter with sugar until white, without stopping beating, add one egg at a time. Mix flour with starch and baking powder, sift into the dough. Add dried fruits and mix. Pour the dough into a mold, previously greased and sprinkled with flour, bake in an oven preheated to 175 degrees for about 70-75 minutes.

Multicooker

And if the latest technology has reached your corner, and a slow cooker is gathering dust in your dorm room, then feel free to take it out and cook an exquisite holiday dinner with it. You will also save your time.

There are a lot of recipes for this clever girl. Some models even allow you to bake, so you can safely entrust both the main course and dessert to it. We did not take too complex options, we will leave it at your discretion. We liked a rather simple and reasonable option for preparing “Pork with Apples” in a slow cooker.

Necessary ingredients: apples - 2 pcs., pork - 1 kg, vegetable oil, grated cheese - 150 g, lemon juice - 2 tsp, spices (salt, pepper).

Algorithm:

Turn on the multicooker, set the “baking” mode and warm it up for 5 minutes;

Cut the meat into pieces, fry it for 30 minutes. Add spices. After cooling the meat slightly, remove the bowl of meat from the multicooker;

Prepare the apples - cut them into thin slices. Add a little lemon juice to them. Place them on top of the pork and top with butter and grated cheese;

Place the meat in a slow cooker and bake until golden brown.

Everything here is extremely simple, and it must be delicious.

And for dessert you can prepare a wonderful “Curd Cake”, there are a lot of ways to prepare it even in a slow cooker, but one attracted me because of its simplicity of execution, we need: 3 eggs, 1 glass of sugar, 150g butter at room temperature, 250g cottage cheese, 2 tbsp. . sour cream, 1 tsp. baking powder, 2 cups flour.

Let's prepare it like this:

Beat eggs well with sugar, add butter. Rub the cottage cheese through a sieve (or thoroughly mash it with a masher), add sour cream. Add eggs with sugar and butter to the cottage cheese and beat until smooth.

Sift the flour with baking powder and add to the curd mass. Mix well (the dough will be dense), place in a multicooker pan, greased with oil.

Place on “Baking” for 1 hour, then for another 30 minutes. Since multicookers of different sizes heat differently, it may take more or less time

Of course, we do not insist on these particular options, just remember that preparing delicious food and getting a lot of good impressions from the cooking process is not so difficult, and eating a holiday dinner made with your own hands is simply bliss.
