Master class on dry felting: Valentine heart. Felting a heart for a loved one

Birthday

Master class on felting “Wool heart”.

If you only have one or two needles, don't be discouraged. At first, I also had very few needles. Over time I acquired enough of them. And even then, I think there are a lot of them. In my opinion, a triangular needle is enough for the initial felting, and a star needle for the final stage of felting. Therefore, if you have exactly these needles, then you can immediately start felting.

Having prepared the carded wool and a triangle needle, I first felted the ball.

After the ball has felted a little, I determine the middle of the heart. And I continue to wallow.

When I felt, the needle must be inserted not only along the surface of the heart, but also much deeper. This must be done so that the wool inside the heart also falls off. But don’t be overzealous, otherwise the wool may become matted inside, and a bald spot will form on the outside. All felting, all actions with a needle must be done one by one over the entire surface of the heart.

As soon as I realized that the heart was well felted, it felt hard and dense to the touch, I took a star needle and began the final felting. At this stage, the main thing is to go over the entire surface of the heart many times. Look at the photo, you can see the difference where I touched the star with a needle.

After I thoroughly felted the heart with a star needle, it is almost ready.

Now I need to determine for what purposes this heart will serve me. I decided to make a pendant for my bag. Using a jewelry pin, chain, and glue, I attached the chain to the heart. First I attached a pin to the heart. I just simply glued it on with glue. If someone does not have this glue, you can use regular transparent moment glue. After the glue dried, I attached the chain to a jewelry pin.

Wool heart pendant ready. If you attach a longer chain, the heart can act as a pendant. And if you attach accessories for a phone pendant to it, you can end up with a wonderful phone pendant.

Today we will get acquainted with DRY METHOD felting, with one of a huge number of its options. You have to start somewhere!) In addition, let's consider how the dry method can be combined with the wet one. We'll have fun, I promise!)

And since tomorrow is “Hearts Day”, there is a reason to do a thematic lesson))

Let's start with completely dry felting...

To work you will need:

Sponge (if you don’t have a thick one, like for a shower or washing a car, then take two regular ones, for dishes),

Felting needles (as many as you have, but preferably coarse and fine),

Cookie cutter (I have a heart, but it can be any, preferably a simple shape for the first time),

Place the mold on the sponge, like this:

Then we pinch off the wool, fluff it (as in the previous lesson),

And stuff it into the mold. The wool will try to come out, so we take a coarse needle and pierce the tow several times so that it stops coming out

INTERESTING! During piercing, the notches on the needle pull the hairs deeper into the lower layers, entangling them. Thus, the wool becomes compacted (felt), this is the hidden meaning of the dry felting method.

Now we must be patient (I warned you that this is for the diligent!) and pierce, pierce, pierce, over the entire area, not forgetting about the edges. One side first...

VERY IMPORTANT!!! you need to poke and remove the needle STRICTLY at the same angle, otherwise the needle (especially a thin one) may break. Ring, and no.. Imagine yourself as a sewing machine, just like that, vertically, evenly and.. no, it’s better not to be “fast” yet)) Take care of your fingers!!

Then remove the mold...

Turn it over to the other side and continue piercing. Until you feel that the needle, which previously joyfully and carefreely entered the wool, is now encountering some kind of obstacle and has begun to enter no longer so deeply NO NEED try to apply more force when puncturing!! Otherwise you will bend or break the needle! It's just time to change the needle to a thinner one

We take (if there is) the average one and continue to work. It may be more convenient for you to continue with the mold; it will even be easier to roll the edges. But it’s possible without it. We feel until we get tired of it, or until the product acquires the required density and shape.

Now we will look at one of the “combined” methods. And again we will play the heart)) I warned you, there will be a thematic lesson!)

This time we will need:

Soap solution,

Sponge (or two sponges),

Felting needles,

Well, an oilcloth or a bag for the table.

We start as if we are going to felt a ball:

We take the required amount of wool, fluff it, and roll it up into a ball.

Dip it into a soapy solution and roll it between your fingers until the top layer of wool stops “floating” (as I described in detail in the FIRST LESSON)

Let's roll it just a little between our palms or on the mat, but don't get carried away! We need a soft ball!

Rolling between two fingers, we form a “droplet”

Then take a baby bump (or mat) and start rubbing a drop on it

We make the top of the droplet flat, now our droplet looks more like a strawberry prototype)

The “strawberry prototype” has already been felted enough (but not to death, but still soft!) and you can wash it from soap and squeeze it out.

Then we take a sponge, immediately a thin needle (or a medium one, you will feel which one pierces the wool better). And we begin to give the strawberries the shape of a heart ball.

We form a groove and “spice up” the lower part of our heart. Voila!) Now just dry it, and you can hang it as a keychain, or add it to beads/bracelet as one of the elements! Use your imagination!)

So how? Are you tired? Are your fingers still alive and intact?) Then I suggest you continue to try yourself in the “dry field”. But now we will make not a flat (which is easier), but a voluminous heart.

The materials and tools are still the same:

Everything is exactly the same - we take the required amount of wool, fluff the tow, and fill the mold with it. BUT! Now we will stuff it thoroughly so that we have something to create volume from.

Stuffing

stuffing..

Finished stuffing!)

Now remove the mold. We got such a thick and fluffy miracle.

Then it’s difficult to say anything in words, you just need to “shape” it with a needle)) We turn the workpiece, pierce it evenly on all sides. Do not try to immediately give the desired shape to one area, do everything gradually. When we feel that the needle meets resistance, we change it to a thinner one. The result is something like this:

But you can, of course, continue to wallow. At your discretion. The main thing is that it is dense enough and the hairs are not pulled out in large quantities. Then the product will be more reliable.

And for those who have not comprehended Zen and have not experienced Enlightenment in the process of repeatedly piercing wool with a needle, there is a faster and more fun way - combination .

However, now we will play wet after dry.

To work, we need everything the same as for the previous “combination”:

Soap solution,

Pupyrka or bamboo mat,

Sponge (or two sponges),

Felting needles,

Oilcloth or bag.

As in the previous version, we fill the mold with wool and felt the prototype of the heart. We’re not particularly zealous

Now take a soap solution and dip the workpiece in it..

An unusually soft and warm fluffy heart made of felted wool, made with your own hands, will be a wonderful gift for someone. The work is easy to do, even someone who has never done it can handle it.

Material and tools for making a heart:

a bunch of red felting wool; felting sponge; three needles for felting No. 36, No. 38 and No. 38 reverse; a small piece of cord to match the product.

Stages of work execution

1. Take a bundle of bright red wool, approximately three times the volume of the finished product.

2. We tangle the fur by combing it with a cat brush or with our hands, tearing off pieces of yarn and laying them in different directions for better adhesion.

3. Carefully crumple it in your hands and get something like a ball. First, we begin felting using a needle No. 36. The ball must be pierced in different directions until it begins to take on the desired shape. The needle needs to be inserted quite deeply so that the middle also sinks in well.

4. We begin to roll the ball “along the equator” until it looks like a thick wheel.

5. Now we turn the workpiece over and continue felting along the plane, forming a disk.

6. We make a kind of “groove” in the upper part of the future heart, often sticking the needle into the same place.

7. On the opposite side of the workpiece, fold the sides, thus forming the tip of the heart.

8. We continue to felt the heart until the needle begins to enter the product with difficulty. The shape of the heart can always be corrected if an unevenness suddenly appears by adding a little wool to the right place.

9. You can leave the heart in this form, or you can take the reverse needle and walk over the entire surface, fluffing the product.

10. Now all that remains is to sew the cord of the required length and disguise the knot with a piece of wool. Using scissors, carefully trim off the excess fur so that the heart comes out even.

The felted wool heart is ready!

This is the kind of wonderful heart that anyone who takes a creative approach to the process of making a gift with their own hands will get. Such a gift will be especially precious, because it will retain the warmth of your hands and convey the sincerity of your feelings.

You can leave the product as is. It is already very beautiful. And for those who love creativity, you can glue on eyes, make a smiling mouth, or sew on a bow. The main thing is not to be afraid to fantasize.

- the decoration is universal, stylish and fashionable today. It can be small or huge, made of gold and diamonds, polymer clay and wood. It can be used to decorate a jacket and beret, a handbag and a boot. One hundred and two hundred years ago, it was given as a souvenir, purchased in order to secure scarves and headbands.

You can express your mood with a brooch. For example, if the brooch is made in the shape of a heart, then you can easily decorate your outfit with it on Valentine’s Day! The “Cross” master class will teach you how to make such a decoration with your own hands using the technique of dry felting from wool.

To work you will need:

  • brooch accessories
  • a little wool fiber (5 - 10 g)
  • needle for felting (best asterisk No. 38 twisted)
  • foam sponge
  • decorative elements (beads, beads, natural stones, etc.)

The heart doesn't have to be red. Whether it turns blue, pink or rainbow depends on the creative idea of the master.

To create this heart, wool of 3 colors was used: red, burgundy and white. The fibers are mixed and a small cloud is formed with your hands.

Using a felting needle, the wool cloud is carefully pierced over the entire surface. Since the needle is long and sharp, and the number of fibers is small, it is better not to do this quickly, so as not to get injured.

The fibers interlock with each other and the wool ball decreases in size. It is given the desired shape using a needle.

From time to time you need to try on the size of the heart and the fittings for the brooch.

In order for the product to be stronger and flatter, its workpiece should be placed on a foam sponge and tapped evenly with a needle over the entire surface.

This master class on dry felting from wool is designed for beginners, so to make it clearer to you exactly how to work with a felting needle, be sure to watch the video from the Vtvorchestve online school:

Since the heart was made of wool of different colors, its sides are not equally colored. It is possible to choose which one will be the front one.

Next, you should try on the base for the brooch and decorative elements. Beads, beads, and buttons can be used to create jewelry. You need to place them on a felt base and make a choice based on your taste.

The brooch fittings will be secured as follows:

The decorative decoration is sewn through, piercing the heart blank.

The fittings must be covered with wool. To do this, place a pinch of fibers on a foam sponge and tap with a felting needle.

This small piece of wool is used to cover a metal pin so that only the clasp remains visible. It falls down carefully.

Heart made of wool - made with love!

Two years ago I made this woolen heart as a gift for my loved one - warm and cozy. Today I will show you in detail the process of creating it. I hope mine felting master class will help beginners master a new technique for decorating felt items. If you are wondering what to give for February 14th, or how to make a Valentine card with your own hands, this simple felting lesson is for you!

For making a heart out of wool we need:

- 20-30 g of white carded wool,
- a small amount of red and pink wool, fine or merino, in the form of a combed ribbon,
- needles for felting - coarse and fine, if available - a holder for several needles.
- your usual felting support - a sponge or mat (not shown in the photo, but required if you value your needles!).

How to make a heart out of wool:

On a sheet of paper folded in half, draw half a heart in the intended size. We cut it out, straighten it - this is our template, using it we will track the symmetry and correctness of the shape of our Valentine.

We roll the white carded card into a plump “cake” and, using a coarse needle, begin to give it a heart shape, periodically checking the template.

While working, sometimes feel the heart - it should be of uniform thickness over the entire area. In “thin” places, add more pieces of wool; carding allows you to do this completely unnoticed. Using a holder for several needles will significantly speed up the felting process.

The finished heart should be hard, evenly dense, with a smooth surface. One side of it can be made convex (front), the second (reverse) – flat.

Let's start decorating the heart. We pull a thin strand from the red merino ribbon, simultaneously twisting it with our fingers. The length of the strand is 7-10 cm; it is difficult to work with a longer one.

Using a thin needle, we begin to pin the resulting red thread to the front surface of the heart, following the schematic sketch drawn on the template. We make sure that the thread is constantly in a slightly twisted state and does not break up into individual fibers.

We simply roll the end of the thread, never cutting it with scissors! We pull out a new thread and continue the element of the pattern, or start the next one.

The thickness of the threads does not have to be the same. On the contrary, unpredictable transitions of threads of different thicknesses give your heart grace and uniqueness J) If the line has come to its logical end, and the thread is still too long, lay it in the opposite direction or roll it into a small ball and felt it as if it was intended.

First of all, we carry out the largest elements of the design; for me these are plant patterns-twigs. Then we proceed to placing smaller parts (flowers, leaves). The easiest way to make flowers is to roll small balls of wool and roll them in the form of petals. In the same way, we get leaves from tiny woolen ovals.

Having finished with the red details, we proceed to the pink decor. Lines, leaves, strings of dots, flower cores are boldly laid on both the white background and the red wool.

Having finished decorating, we examine with a stern gaze the entire resulting composition. In the empty spaces we lightly add color with small dots. But keep in mind that if the composition is overloaded with elements, then it is almost impossible to remove the excess without leaving traces, only by masking it with white color on top (which is also noticeable). Act like a tattoo artist - change the elements you don’t like into others! you can learn how to make them yourself! All the best, don’t be afraid to create!
