How to make a bullfinch from cotton pads. DIY bullfinches made from different materials and using different techniques

New Year

The bullfinch is a beautiful winter bird that decorates snow-covered tree branches and delights the eyes of people. Of course, the crafts of this bird belong to the winter season. This article will present master classes on making bullfinches quickly and easily with your own hands.

We make a beautiful bullfinch from felt with our own hands in a step-by-step tutorial

Bullfinches made at home with warmth and love from fabric, such as felt, are perfect for holiday home decoration, a New Year tree, or a souvenir for loved ones.

In order to sew a bullfinch, you need to prepare the following materials:

  • felt in black, white, gray and red;
  • a pair of black beads (small size);
  • padding polyester;
  • threads;
  • needle;
  • scissors;
  • burgundy ribbon or lace.

First of all, you need to prepare a pattern for the future felt bullfinch, which will consist of four different parts, namely the upper part of the craft, the tummy and two parts of the wing.

Now you need to sew the red parts of the pattern to the black ones. Thus, we get two sides of the body of the future felt bullfinch. We sew the two resulting parts together, leaving a small hole in the belly area in order to further fill the toy with padding polyester. After it is filled, we sew up the tummy with red thread. Next, we sew together the white and gray parts of the wings, also fill these parts of the toy with padding poly and carefully sew up the holes. We sew the wings to the body of the bullfinch. You need to make eyes. We make them from white felt and beads. At the final stage, you need to sew a ribbon or lace to the toy.

The bullfinch is ready and can decorate your home. It took very little materials, time and, of course, love.

Making a bullfinch from cotton wool in a step-by-step lesson for beginners

In order to make a bullfinch from cotton wool using the papier-mâché technique, you will need the following materials:

  • cotton wool;
  • PVA glue;
  • wire;
  • acrylic paints;
  • newspaper;
  • toilet paper.

First you need to form a ball with a diameter of 7-10 cm, we make it from newspaper. To make the surface of the ball smoother and more even, wrap it with toilet paper on top of the newspaper. Next, you need to take the wire and make a loop out of it, secure it to the resulting ball.

Let's prepare the cotton wool. It needs to be layered into wide thin plates and well greased on both sides with PVA glue. We wrap the ball with the resulting coated cotton parts, straighten the layers and make sure that there are no uncovered places left; 3-4 layers of cotton wool will be enough. We form wings, a tail and a beak from the remaining cotton wool coated with glue.

We dry the cotton bullfinches for a day and paint the resulting birds with acrylic paints. If desired, you can add glitter or sprinkle with artificial snow; also, it would not be a bad idea to coat the craft with varnish for durability.

A paper bullfinch can be made using the quilling technique. The product will turn out very beautiful and original.

Necessary materials:

  • quilling paper (5 cm included in the set);
  • quilling tool;
  • PVA glue;
  • scissors;
  • paper – A4 (white).

We twist a strip of black paper into a “roll”, remove it from the rolling tool and let it straighten out a little, glue the free edge together, use our fingers to shape it into a triangle - the beak of the future bullfinch is ready.

Let's start making the details for the bird's head. We twist the black “roll” and give the part a crescent shape. The next “roll” should be in the shape of a drop. Next, fold the new strip in half and twist the ends on each side in one direction, using your fingers to form drops. We fix everything with glue. We make the next part of the head according to the same pattern, only we give it an oval shape. The extreme part will be a leaf-shaped part. We glue all the details to the white sheet, forming the bullfinch’s head.

We form the body of the bird from parts in the shape of a crescent and a leaf and also glue it to the leaf. The wings are made of black and white paper. For a red belly, details in the form of a curl, a drop and a leaf are suitable. Glue it to the abdomen on an A4 sheet. The tail of the bullfinch is three pieces of white color in the shape of leaves.

If desired, you can make a branch on which the bullfinch will be located. Green paper must be formed into 20-30 round “rolls”, shaped into leaves and fastened together. Arrange the leaves so that the bullfinch sits on them. That's all, the bullfinch using the quilling technique is ready.

You can make many different toys from yarn. Usually, when creating such products, they use crochet or knitting. But in order to make a bird from yarn, it is not at all necessary to comprehend the science of knitting. We offer you a very easy way to create a toy that does not take much time.

To create a bullfinch from threads you will need:

  • threads (black, gray, red);
  • padding polyester;
  • cardboard;
  • beads (2 pieces);
  • sunflower seed

We wrap a piece of cardboard measuring 9 by 12 cm along the length 50-55 times with black thread. On one side we cut the threads. We make 45-50 turns along the width of the cardboard with red threads and cut them. We also do this with gray threads. Now we use black and red threads to make the bullfinch’s body, placing red threads across the black ones. We tie the black threads and move the red ones back.

All that remains is to attach the eyes - the beads and the seed - the beak.

Let's look at cross stitch in detail using several techniques.

To cross stitch a bullfinch you will need:

  • canvas;
  • threads;
  • hoop;
  • needle;
  • PVA glue;
  • felt-tip pen.

First, we prepare the canvas by greasing its edges with PVA glue. We divide the fabric into 10 by 10 squares; for ease of work, you can highlight them with a simple pencil. We embroider the bullfinch according to the pattern using one or three threads. Different thicknesses of threads will help highlight the largest parts of the embroidery or add volume where necessary. Be sure to embroider the background using one thread.

Embroidery should start from the darkest color. It is necessary to ensure that the reverse side is neat so that when framing the work in a frame, unwanted knots do not stand out and spoil the entire appearance of the embroidery.

It is important to determine your level of complexity and select the embroidery in relation to it so that the picture turns out correct and beautiful.

BUT so that it only gets wet on top. SO THAT EVERYTHING DOESN'T GET WET! We smooth the body with our hands. We tighten the thread between the tail and the body. We place the workpiece on the lid of a plastic bottle. The tail can be trimmed at your discretion, but only after it has completely dried. If after drying the back or head is not even, you can spread glue and apply a piece cotton wool. You can hold a dry bird by the tail and paint it (it has dried up and will not fall off). In kindergarten, answering children's questions “Why do bullfinches have red breasts?” Educators often use in their stories a fascinating tale about these amazing beautiful birds.

It was summer, the smart birds, who did not fly to warmer climes for the winter, were stocking up on food. And the bullfinch carelessly fluttered from branch to branch, sang songs to the sun and was idle. When winter came, in order to survive, he had no choice but to eat only rowan. Due to the large number of red berries consumed, the breast turned red. Or maybe out of shame, for the fact that, as they say, “I sang through the red summer and didn’t have time to look back...”

But people know another legend about a bird with a red breast. A long time ago, when Christianity was just established in Rus', the dates of holidays and all sorts of rules of behavior on holidays were determined. On the Annunciation, which is celebrated on April 7, a strict ban on any work was introduced. (If anyone doesn’t know, the Annunciation is a holiday when an angel brought the good news to the Virgin Mary that she was destined to give birth to the Son of God). The Slavs believed that from late autumn until the Annunciation the earth sleeps, and on the holiday God wakes it up, blesses all the plants, and one must not disturb him, that is, no work is allowed to be done. But the stupid cuckoo did not listen and one day for a holiday she decided to build herself a nest. Then God punished her - he deprived her of the nest forever. The cuckoo thought and thought and decided to throw eggs into the bullfinch's nest. Naturally, the bullfinch objected. He got into a fight with a male cuckoo and ultimately emerged victorious. But ever since then, there has been a distinct red stain on his chest - traces of the blood of the cuckoo’s defeated husband. And the cuckoo itself remained a widow forever. And he continues to throw eggs at anyone.

However, biologists do not believe in fairy tales and legends. And they claim that the maximum number of melanin cells, which are responsible for the color of feathers, is concentrated in the chest area of bullfinches. And the food consumed by the bullfinch contains a large amount of carotenoids, which are natural dyes.

For work we will need the following materials:
- blue cardboard;
- colored paper;
- red gouache;
- brush;
- cotton pads;
- black felt-tip pen;
- scissors;
- PVA glue.

Cut out two green strips 15 cm long and 5 cm wide.

Bend in half.

Using a simple pencil, draw a line along which we then cut the bent strips.

On the rounded strips, without bending them, we cut the strips not reaching the fold line.

Glue the finished branches to the cardboard. Apply glue in the middle of the blanks. Lightly fluff up the strips of needles, lifting the stripes.

Next, glue cotton pads onto the branches - this will be the body of the bullfinch.

Using the templates, cut out 2 black circles, 2 large triangles, and 2 small triangles from yellow paper.

We bend the black circles in half and cut them into 2 parts.

We glue the finished parts onto cotton pads. Glue half of the circle onto a cotton pad - this is the head. Glue a large triangle in place of the tail. Now you can glue the wings, which we glue on top of the tail.
All that remains is to glue on the beak and eyes. We decorate the eyes with a black felt-tip pen.

Let's get started with the most interesting activity that children really enjoy doing. We paint the bird's breast with red gouache; for this purpose, the brush with the paint should be dipped, and not applied as strokes, since moisture will cause the cotton pad to clump.

These are such elegant bullfinches!
Bullfinches are very bright, elegant and, of course, winter birds. I’ll tell you how quite quickly (not counting the drying time) you can make New Year’s bullfinches for the Christmas tree using the cotton papier-mâché technique.

You will need:

PVA glue;

Wire;

Toilet paper;

Acrylic paints.

We crumple up dense balls with a diameter of 7-10 cm from the newspaper.

To soften the contours, crush toilet paper on top

Make a dent on either side with your finger (form a head line)

3

We twist a loop of wire and secure it to our ball by twisting the free ends of the wire under the dent.

We prepare the cotton wool. We layer it into thin but fairly wide plates.

We generously coat each of them with PVA glue on both sides.

Simply wrap our ball and smooth the layer. If there are any uncovered areas, cover with the next layer, starting from there.

Three layers is enough.

Let's add details - tail, wings and beak. We coat the thin plate on both sides and fold it several times, giving it the desired shape (tail and wing). Before coating the wing plates, you must first select two plates of the same size. For the beak, just a small lump is enough.

Well, the birds are ready, it took quite a bit of time.

I put a New Year's cap on the head of one of the birds.

Let it dry for about a day.

All that remains is to paint the birds with acrylic paints or a mixture of gouache and PVA. Here's a simple scheme. Paint the loops the color of the surface from which they come.

Or sprinkle semolina snow on PVA glue and make a nest for them in the interior during the holidays

Who doesn't know handsome bullfinches?!
Their red breasts, like a drop of blood, indicate that they are brave birds. In Ancient Rus', there was a belief that bullfinches saved travelers who got lost in endless snow-covered fields. Bullfinches showed them the way to residential buildings.

There is a sign that the bullfinch tweets when the weather is warm, clear and sunny.

Our panel is made from various materials, almost all of them are waste. If you don’t have exactly these materials, I’ll tell you how you can easily replace them and not spoil the appearance of the product.
Templates

Work sequence
So, let's begin!
First, let's prepare the basis for our composition! Let's take blue or light blue cardboard. If you don’t have cardboard, you can draw a winter sky with paints on white paper or cover the backing with fabric, but this will be more labor-intensive.

From the polyethylene foam that remains from the packaging of various goods, we cut out snow-covered hills of arbitrary shape (depending on the size of the available pieces). It can be replaced with padding polyester or cotton wool. Glue the hills to the base. We begin gluing from the horizon, that is, from the middle of the sheet to the bottom of the picture. The main thing is to avoid any gaps in the background.

We cut out Christmas trees from thinner polyethylene foam using templates.

We glue them in the background of the picture.

The base for the panel is ready. We insert it into a frame without glass.

Glue branches of any shrub to the foreground.

Let's start making bullfinches. To do this, you can use velvet paper or pieces of fabric, such as velor or velvet, but they must first be glued to the paper and dried.
So, we trace the templates from the wrong side of the material and cut them out.

We connect the bullfinch parts using glue. Cut out an eye from paper and glue it to the bird. If it is very difficult to cut out such a small circle, you can draw it with a line corrector or white gouache. Using a black felt-tip pen, draw the pupil.

All that remains is to glue our bullfinches to the branches. Their number in the picture can be any, depending on your desire.

Let's add a foam snowball.
There you go! Creative success to everyone!
