Analysis of the trade and standard classifications showed that the standard classification provides for a more detailed division of the range of tapes into groups according to purpose. In the trade classification, the selected groups more accurately reflect the purpose taken into account by the buyer.

Just recently, only in the production of weaving tapes, fibers such as natural silk, flax, and cotton were used. But today cotton and natural wool do not play a big role in production; cotton yarn is used for production only for some types. Today, chemical threads and yarn are preferred in production. Viscose, acetate, polyamide and polyester, including dyed. Ribbon weaving tapes are made from viscose threads. Such threads are used to make hat, satin, and velvet types. In order to enhance the shine of the surface, acetate threads are used. For strength and abrasion resistance, polyamide (nylon) threads are used.

In general, tape production is a very delicate process. But we can safely say that they do their job very well. And a very large number of different tapes can be presented to the market. They differ in the quality of the material, production technology, and personal originality.

In the manufacture of decorative and finishing types, various polyester threads are used in the form of a rope, textured and complex.

What is the process of making weaving ribbons? The process itself is divided into three separate cycles. Namely: preparation of raw materials for the manufacturing process, strip production, and the third process of finishing finished products.

Preparation of raw materials includes the process of winding yarn for weft onto bobbins and preparing the warp. Spools in ribbon weaving are used in sizes from thirty to eighty millimeters.

Some elastic bands require special attention and more care to produce.

If you consider the assortment, it will take a lot of time, since their number is very large. The assortment is primarily determined by its purpose. Tapes are divided into applied, decorative and finishing, and clothing auxiliary.

In turn, applied tapes are used in the manufacture of clothing for edging seams, for ties, zippers, etc. Most of them are made in main or finely patterned weaves from cotton yarn and viscose threads.

Ribbons in clothing are used as decoration or an integral part of clothing. Thanks to ribbons, you can make a suit or dress more original and exclusive.

Now a little about decorative and finishing tape. This type is used for bows, trimming dresses, suits, linen, weaving into braids, etc. The assortment is very diverse, especially in terms of decoration. Decorative and finishing ribbons are represented by satin, hat, finishing, nylon, varnish and emblems.

The satin look is used for weaving into braids and partially for decorating national costumes. Made from glossy (viscose) and acetate silk in a plain-dyed weave. That's why they have a beautiful shiny side at the end.

Hat hats are made from natural and viscose silk, and come in different colors. Such ribbons serve as decoration and decoration for hats, both women's and men's.

Lacquer ribbons are made of acetate silk with satin weave, plain dyed. Varnish is used for finishing dresses, suits, etc.

Corset tapes are made from viscose or cotton threads with rubber threads or spandex threads.

We looked at several types of tapes, but this is only a small part. Each type has its own characteristics, its own uniqueness in appearance and zest in production. Ribbons serve as a finishing material for clothing; their use adds originality and elegance to the outfit. Manufacturers of all types are trying not to stand still, but to look for new production opportunities. Today's markets are filled with choices. Especially if a person has a hobby of sewing clothes or other fabric items, then ribbons will help them make your creativity more original.

Many fashion designers prefer to decorate costumes with ribbons, because they can be made in any style.

Ribbon weaving products as a group of textile and haberdashery products are represented in a fairly wide range of products according to purpose, composition and other characteristics.

Classification, composition and production processes of ribbon weaving products

Classification of ribbon weaving products. GOST 4.13 - 89 “Textile and haberdashery products for household use. Nomenclature of Indicators" presents a standard classification based on the sign of purpose (Fig. 4). On this basis, the range of tapes is divided into belt, finishing, applied, fabric, elastic, for zippers, wicks, textile fasteners. The said GOST takes into account the recommended area of use of the tapes. For example, belts are used for wristwatches, schoolbag straps, belts, leather goods, camping tents and backpacks.

In the All-Russian Classification of Products OKP-005-93, ribbon weaving products, like other textile and haberdashery products, are presented in the 81st class and are concentrated in the second group of the fifth subclass, subdivided by purpose into ribbons for general consumption, as well as technical and special ones.

In the trade classification, as in the standard one, this subgroup of textile haberdashery is divided by purpose.

According to trade classification, tapes are divided into three groups: decorative and finishing, applied and clothing auxiliary. The group of decorative and finishing ribbons includes the following: hat, nylon, satin, finishing, velvet, Ukrainian, etc.; to the applied group - keeper, lining, trouser, corsage and linen; to the group of clothing accessories - elastic garter, brooch, corset. Tapes for technical purposes are not considered at all in the trade classification.

Analysis of the standard and trade classifications shows that the standard classification provides for a more detailed division of the range of tapes into groups according to purpose. In the trade classification, the selected groups more accurately reflect the purpose taken into account by the buyer.

Composition of ribbon weaving products. Until recently, natural fibers were widely used in the production of ribbon weaving products: cotton, flax, natural silk. However, at present, flax and natural silk are practically not used; cotton yarn is used to produce only some types of ribbons. Increasingly, instead of natural raw materials, chemical threads and yarns are used to improve the aesthetic properties of products: viscose, acetate, polyamide and polyester, including dyed in the mass. Dyeing is very important for viscose threads, since when dyeing, due to the uneven structure of these threads, it is difficult to avoid different shades.

Viscose threads with a linear density from 8 to 29 tex can have different structures: twisted, caned, pneumatically connected. For the production of ribbon weaving products, viscose threads are used, made not only by the widespread centrifugal method, but also by the bobbin method. Viscose threads are used to make satin ribbons, velvet, and hat ribbons.

To enhance the shine of the surface, some tapes are made from acetate threads.

Polyamide (nylon) threads give the tapes increased strength and abrasion resistance. The use of nylon threads of different structures - monofilament, textured, elastic, flat twist of various linear densities - allows you to create ribbon weaving products with high aesthetic properties.

The range of decorative and finishing tapes uses various polyester threads in the form of a rope, complex and textured. To produce clothing auxiliary tapes, rubber and, more recently, elastane threads - spandex and lycra - are used.

Production processes of ribbon weaving products. The tape production process is divided into three independent cycles: preparation of raw materials, strip production and finishing of the finished tape.

The main operations in the preparation of raw materials are winding the weft yarn onto bobbins and preparing the warp.

In ribbon weaving, bobbins measuring 28 - 80 mm are used. The threads come off the bobbin perpendicular to its axis. When winding the bobbin, the thread should be laid correctly, evenly and tightly. Incorrect winding of bobbins causes individual threads to break during weaving, which creates a transverse stripe or tightening of the thread on the tape and its edges in some places are pulled together more than usual.

The base is prepared in several ways, depending on what tape it is intended for. For cotton ribbons, the warp is wound on cylindrical rollers; for silk ribbons - on small beams with sides; For elastic (rubber) tapes, parallel winding of the warp on small beams is used. The warp threads must be evenly and correctly tensioned and laid in parallel, since if the individual threads are unequally tensioned or if they are randomly arranged (in a bundle), slacks, loops and other defects appear in the tape.

To produce some types of elastic tapes, which require greater elasticity, the rubber thread is twisted with cotton yarn before being wound onto the working beam. To do this, the rubber thread is stretched to the limit and in this form is braided with cotton yarn on a twisting machine. After braiding, it shrinks halfway and remains stretched by 100 - 200% compared to the length before wrapping.

The production of ribbon strips is carried out on special ribbon weaving shuttle looms, which have a number of design features in the design of the botans and the shuttle movement system. They simultaneously produce a large number of strips of tape (up to 100). Each tape is produced by its own shuttle and has earned edges.

Ribbons with rubber thread are made with a special weave. In this case, the rubber thread does not seem to be involved in the weaving, but is worked into the middle of the tape by inserting the weft over and under it.

In addition to the rubber base, the production of elastic tapes involves a flat base, which, when weaving, follows along with the rubber thread and gives the tape the required density and a certain elongation limit, and a stitched, interlacing warp, wrapping the weft threads above and below and thereby securing the rubber threads in a tense position. With proper weaving, the elongation of the finished rubber tape with smooth edges is at least 70%, with wavy edges - 80%.

Recently, shuttleless looms have been used to produce strips of tape, providing significant productivity gains. Currently, shuttleless looms make up over 70% of the total fleet of ribbon weaving machines. However, a certain range of ribbons can be produced only on shuttle weaving looms, which makes it possible to produce ribbons with worked edges, smooth and shaped, embossed, such as lace, and corrugated. The edges of nylon tapes can be melted or overlocked.

Finishing of ribbon weaving products gives them a beautiful appearance, smooth surface, softness and shine. Elastic tapes are impregnated with sizing agent, dried and calendered on hot rotating drums. The tape removed from the drum is passed through a softener, where it is steamed. After proper finishing, the rubber band is elastic, soft, smooth and even. Silk and cotton ribbons are finished and smoothed on a hot calender to give them softness and better appearance. These operations are similar to those used in the production of fabrics. Hat ribbons are subjected to finishing, which consists of giving the color greater strength and making them less shrinkable.

To increase shine, strips of varnish are melted on a mirror calender. Some types of decorative tapes are decorated with designs made using blocking methods (applying viscose pile in an electrostatic field along the adhesive contour), partial burning of the design, pleated finishing, etc.

Assortment of tapes

The range of tapes is determined primarily by their purpose. As follows from the trade classification scheme, tapes are divided into applied, decorative and finishing and clothing auxiliary.

Application tapes. Butt tapes are used in garment manufacturing for ties, seam edging, zippers, etc.

Most of these ribbons are made in warp or fine weave from cotton yarn and rayon threads. In side, trouser and grosgrain tapes, nylon threads can be used in one or both systems (warp and weft). In terms of finishing, applied tapes can be bleached, gray or plain-dyed.

The range of applied tapes includes keeper, corsage, trouser, linen and curtain tapes.

The keeper tape is made in the form of a “broken twill” weave, as a result of which the weave pattern has a “herringbone” appearance. It is produced in widths of 9.5-15 mm, bleached and plain-dyed; used for ties to linen or lining of indoor shoes.

A plain weave grosgrain ribbon has a weave pattern of sharply defined recessed tracks along the width of the ribbon; Available in highly finished, plain-painted, 40 wide; 50 and 60 mm and is used for belts (bodices) to skirts. In addition, a grosgrain ribbon with a rubber thread is made. The width of this tape is 26 mm, it is used for trouser belts. The modern range of grosgrain ribbons can also be made in finely patterned or jacquard weave with the image of the manufacturer's logo.

The composition of the trouser tape is usually cotton or using nylon threads. The trouser tape is made plain dyed, twill or plain weave with a thickened edge (side), which increases its resistance to abrasion. A 15mm wide tape is used to reinforce the bottom of the trousers.

Linen tape is made from viscose, nylon filament and textured threads, cotton yarn in various weaves - plain, twill, satin, finely patterned, jacquard. Its width is 5 - 17 mm; for finishing - smoothly painted in light colors and bleached. Varieties of linen tape are: double tape made of viscose threads of two-layer (bag) weave, with one side made of plain weave and the other side of satin weave; a tape based on rubber threads and textured elastic threads, due to which one edge of the tape is smooth; and the second - with ruffle or teeth. Linen tapes are used to make straps.

Curtain tape made from curtain fabric is made in the form of a strip of plain weave. Its width is up to 25 mm. At some distance from the edge, a thickened nylon thread is laid using a running stitch. The tape is sewn along the entire width of the fabric and, using thickened thread, the curtain is assembled into beautiful ruffles. The tape is produced bleached.

Decorative and finishing tapes. Decorative and finishing ribbons are used for bows, weaving into braids, finishing dresses, suits, linen, shoes, hats, so the assortment is very diverse, especially in terms of decoration: weaving, finishing, color design.

The range of decorative and finishing ribbons is represented by satin, finishing, hat, lacquered, nylon and emblem ribbons.

Satin ribbons (liberty) are decorative and are used for weaving into braids and partially for decorating national costumes. They are made from glossy (viscose) and acetate silk, smoothly dyed, with a satin weave, as a result of which they have a shiny front side.

Finishing tapes are made with a carriage pattern imitating geometric embroidery motifs, or a large-patterned (jacquard) weave made from viscose threads in the warp and cotton yarn in the weft, or from viscose threads in both systems. The width of finishing tapes is 30-105 mm. Used for finishing clothes, shoes, and interior items.

Hat ribbons are made from natural and viscose silk of different colors in a combined weave. Depending on the design, these ribbons are divided into two types: with shaped edges (the edge pattern differs from the main strip of the ribbon) and with satin (with a satin stripe in the middle), 25 - 48 mm wide. Hat ribbons are used for finishing men's and women's hats.

Lacquer ribbons are made of acetate silk, satin weave, plain dyed. The belts are polished on hot calenders to increase shine. The width of the varnish tapes is from 10 to 60 mm. These tapes are used for finishing hats, dresses, and women's suits.

Nylon tapes are made from fabric with a combined weave: a combination of plain weave with narrow strips of satin along the edges or linen with flocking finishing. Tape width 35 - 90 mm. Ribbons are made plain-dyed in both bright and dark colors. Used for bows, woven into braids and in the form of sets - wedding and mourning. Nylon tape is also made from plain weave fabric, 85-150 mm wide and 87-112 cm long. The edges of such tapes are melted or hemmed on an overcasting machine. Ribbons can have a pleated finish.

Emblem ribbons are made from viscose threads with jacquard multi-color thematic designs - anchors, geometric patterns, etc. Ribbons are used for finishing children's, youth and sportswear.

Clothing auxiliary tapes. Clothing and auxiliary tapes are most often made using rubber threads or spandex threads, since their main range includes corset, bandage and garter tapes, which require significant elastic elongation as the main functional property. In addition to high-tensile threads, cotton yarn and viscose threads are used.

Corset and bandage tapes are made from viscose or cotton threads with rubber threads or spandex threads.

Elastic garter tapes are produced in bleached, plain-dyed and variegated varieties with a smooth, corrugated or looped edge, plain or finely patterned combined weave. In the modern assortment, their share is small: these tapes are used for men's, teenage and children's underwear and instead of elastic holding tape in children's and women's underwear, they are used at the same time as an edge trim. The width of the elastic bands is 15 - 40 mm.

Expertise of ribbon weaving goods

Requirements for the quality of ribbon weaving goods. The quality of weaving goods is determined by a set of general and specialized indicators defined by GOST 4.13-89 “Textile and haberdashery products for household use. Nomenclature of indicators".

Quality indicators of ribbon weaving goods are divided into two groups:

purposes - linear dimensions (width, mm), surface density (g/m2), change in linear dimensions during wet processing (%), type and content of raw materials, color fastness (points);

aesthetic, determined by the appearance of the products.

Different types of tapes are subjected to different testing methods depending on their further application. Thus, the keeper tape is tested in a laboratory method for breaking load, degree of whiteness and color fastness to washing and ironing; corsage - for breaking load, elongation, color strength to dry friction and sizing content; finishing, satin, tartan, velvet, trim - for color fastness to washing, light and ironing; hat - for breaking load and shrinkage, upper content and color fastness to water and light; elastic - for tensile elongation, resistance to repeated stretching, sizing content and color fastness to dry friction.

The tapes must comply with the standard and have a durable, uniform color. It is necessary that they are finished and free of gross defects. The maximum stretch of elastic tapes should be (%, not less than): garter tapes, for straps - 70; corset, corsage - 45; shoe - 50.

The height of the pile for velvet cloth is 2 mm, for tapes with glued pile - 1.5 mm; The pile should be applied evenly, without gaps, and firmly glued to the tape.

Defects in the appearance of tapes are divided into widespread and local.

Common defects include different shades, fluffiness of the surface, uneven edges, corrugated edges, stripes on the warp and weft. These defects are determined by comparison with samples.

Local defects include the absence of one or more threads along the warp or weft (undercuts), breakage of warp threads (braided), compaction of threads along the weft (nicks), breakage of a rubber thread, tightening along the edge.

In addition to the listed defects, finished ribbon weaving products may have such defects as uneven coloring, streaks, stains, stripes, blots, dirty edges, oil stains, earned fluff, skew, torn edges, uneven finishing and a number of other defects affecting mainly the external type of products.

The quality of the tapes is determined taking into account defects in appearance, physical and mechanical properties and color fastness.

When determining the quality of tapes based on defects in appearance, a conditional length of a piece is set at 10 m, allowing no more than five different defects per conditional length.

Ribbons are not divided into grades.

The physical and mechanical properties of the tapes (width, weight, density, breaking load, etc.) and the strength of their color are guaranteed quality indicators. To determine them, 3% of the packs, but not less than three, are selected from the incoming batch. From each selected pack, take one or two pieces, skeins or rolls and cut at least five samples of the product across its entire width, 1 m long.

The width of the tape is measured with a ruler with an accuracy of 1 mm in three places - in the middle and at a distance of 20 cm from the ends of the sample. The arithmetic mean of three measurements is taken as the final result. Measurements are taken on tables; the tape should be straightened and not stretched. The mass is determined by weighing a sample of the tape with an accuracy of 0.1 g.

The weft density of the tape is determined by counting the threads over a length of 10 mm. The number of threads on the warp is calculated according to the width of the product. The arithmetic mean of three measurements is taken as the final result.

In addition, the tensile strength of the elastic tape, breaking load and elongation at break, resistance to abrasion, repeated bending, shrinkage after locking, as well as color fastness are determined.

Parts of the tape with appearance defects exceeding the standards allowed by GOST must be cut out. In this case, no more than three cuts are allowed per nominal length of the piece, and the minimum cut length is 0.25-1.5 m, depending on

groups of tapes. When the tape length is more than 10 m, the number of allowed defects increases proportionally.

Marking and packaging of ribbon weaving goods. Labeling and packaging of tapes must comply with the requirements of the standard, however, some requirements of the existing GOST are clearly outdated and need significant updating.

The rules for labeling, packaging and storage of tapes are defined by GOST 19411-88 “Textile and haberdashery products woven, braided, knitted, meter and piece. Warehousing, labeling and primary packaging."

The tapes are wound into skeins (loose winding) or rolls (tight winding with one layer over another) with a length of 10; 20; 25; thirty; 40 and 50 m.

Each skein is tied in two places at the ends or girded with a rubber band, and the rolls are tied in one place and placed in boxes or packs (from 4 to 20 pieces), and elastic bands are packed in boxes, bags or packs of 10 pieces.

Metallized tape is one of the most popular in the floristic and culinary markets. We produce it from scratch - from polypropylene granules to the finished product using unique equipment and technologies. The tape has a sanitary and epidemiological certificate confirming the possibility of using it in the food industry. Metallized ribbon is also convenient for holiday decorations - it is often used to decorate weddings, birthdays, corporate events with balloons, and to make various curtains and screens. Metallized tape is also in demand in handicrafts and children's creativity - in preparation for New Year's holidays and graduation parties. Leading manufacturers of cakes and other confectionery products widely use metallized tape to package their products.

Ribbon with a gold stripe is the most diverse in terms of the number of designs. A special feature of this tape is the method of applying a gold stripe to a polypropylene base, which allows it to be used in an aggressive environment without compromising the decorative qualities of the tape with a gold stripe. Weather conditions, various manipulations with the tape - the appearance remains the same. This property of our ribbon with a gold stripe distinguishes it favorably from foreign analogues, be it European manufacturers or China. The ribbon with a gold stripe also has a sanitary and epidemiological certificate confirming the possibility of its use in the food industry. This type of tape is very beautiful when the company logo is applied to it. The range of ribbons with a gold stripe for ritual purposes is wide and is constantly expanding. You can put inscriptions on it using felt-tip pens, the gold stripe does not come off and the letters on the wreaths are not erased in the cold and in the rain.

Openwork ribbon - the production of this type of ribbon is the most technically complex. Two types of film are used here, differing in many respects in technical characteristics. First, a pattern is applied to one type of film, which is then processed in a special way. Then these films are glued together and, using ultrasound, an openwork pattern is knocked out on the tape. At the beginning of the production of openwork ribbon, we purchased Chinese machines, but they did not live up to our hopes for producing a quality product. Currently, ultrasonic machines of our own design are used.

The Aspidistra tape has been a bestseller for several years now. The ribbon imitates the natural leaf of the Aspidistra plant, the greenery that is used in every second bouquet. The use of our ribbon reduces the cost and extends the life of a bouquet or arrangement. In addition, Aspidistra tape is used for technical purposes to decorate structural elements of interior compositions or to disguise floral foam (oasis). The leaves of artificial plants are made from it. In the production of this tape, double-sided embossing and multi-stage dyeing are used.

Plain tape is the most popular on the market. In percentage terms, it is produced the most. Despite its apparent “simplicity,” this is a very delicate production that requires a lot of attention. Currently available in 19 primary colors and over 100 different designs. New shades are constantly being added – the latest of the new products is the color “Champagne”. Ecru color will be released soon. The production has developed its own formulas for each color, and the color match is monitored by the colorist.
A simple tape of our production breaks well along the length, which is important for florists, but does not delaminate. It is available both smooth and embossed, which increases its linearity when torn lengthwise. At the same time, the ribbon holds weight well and does not break across, so cake manufacturers are happy to purchase it and florists use it as a technical tool when tying bouquets.

The guards ribbon has been produced by our company for 10 years. It belongs to the “simple tape” type. Available in widths of 3 and 5 cm. Government orders it in large quantities. structures for decorating festive and memorable events. On the May 9 holiday, many people buy a guards ribbon for their cars, because its cost is only 1 ruble 40 kopecks per meter, which is much cheaper than its woven counterpart.
